"Compare these two photographs, then tell me you weren't way sluttier with Rock Hudson than I was with Lady Ashley."
Original airdate: 3/6/1985
Episode summary: Alexis travels to Moldavia to try to convince King Galen to allow Prince Michael and Amanda to marry. Blake continues to flirt with Lady Ashley while admonishing Krystle for smooching Rock Hudson.
Amanda arrives at the hospital just as Alexis is about to climb into her limo. Amanda says she just heard that Dex is in the hospital and wants to make sure he's OK - but Alexis fibs that he's not accepting visitors right now 'cause he's fast asleep, then urges her climb into the limo with her and head back to the penthouse.
Blake visits Dominique in her hospital room, where she's listening to an audio tape of herself singing while looking strangely wistful. She tells Blake she's frightened about her health and doesn't know what tomorrow will bring, and Blake assures her that tomorrow will be a great day...and to stop whining so damn much about her health, 'cause the doctors have all agreed that she's going to make a full recovery.
Over an extravagant looking lunch of pigeon and veggies (blech), Amanda calls out Alexis for failing to tell her that Dex was back in Denver and was being hospitalized. Alexis wryly says how touching her concern is - but that it'd be best for everyone if she found a husband of her own to worry about. She then announces that she's about to go somewhere secret for "business", and warns her to not visit Dex in the hospital. Or else.
Jeff arrives at Lady Ashley's suite at La Mirage to smarmily oversee the delivery of five large flower bouquets and then invite her to dinner. When she blushingly accepts, he tells her he'll give her half an hour to get dressed and refresh her ponytail 'do.
Alexis arrives at King Galen's estate in Moldovia, decked out in a fantastic brown suede/fur ensemble, and is given a royal welcome via a red carpet that a manservant rolls out just before she exits her car. She enters the ginormous house, is greeted by Galen, who she promptly curtsies to. He stares at her creepishly while kissing her hand and cooing, "I never thought we'd meet again" ... then keeps her hand clasped in his as he asks her if she ever hoped they would, er, meet again. In lieu of answering, Alexis just stares back at him coquettishly.
"I've missed you so much over the years. Tell me, Alexis, have you missed me?"

While wrapping up a meeting at Denver Carrington, Blake tells Jeff how proud of him he is for ending his sham marriage and having more of a positive 'tude. Jeff beams happily and says he's ready to get on with his life and take on new challenges...and by new challenges, he means he's going to do his damnedest to bone Lady Ashley. Blake's all, "Wuh?" and says he had no idea he was into a May-December hookup with the ponytailed aristocrat...and Jeff smiles goofily and says he finds Lady Ashley to be "interesting and very special" and is pretty sure she's smitten with him too. Blake scrunches his wrinkly face with displeasure as he stares contemplatively into space.
After an extravagant dinner inside the royal dining hall, King Galen coyly tells Alexis he remembers a time when she would not have fended off his passion. Alexis breezily reminds him that that's ancient history, and that now she's coming to him as a parent (and potential briber). She asks about Prince Michael's betrothal to the duchess, specifically what he (Galen) has to gain from the union. When Galen just stares cluelessly into space, Alexis proposes that, in exchange for a marriage between Prince Michael and Amanda, she would offer him a percentage of the profits from ColbyCo's South China Sea oil deal. She adds that that kind of cash could help develop his country's economic resources, and Galen silently mulls over the intriguing prospect.
Steven is slumped in a chair at Luke's apartment, staring morosely into space. Luke correctly assumes that he's still moping about his failed marriage to Claudia, and Steven rolls his eyes and gripes that he doesn't want to hear for the umpteenth time how well adjusted he (Luke) is after his epic coming out that followed his divorce. A slightly miffed Luke asks him if he really truly wants to be here with him right now...and when Steven assures him he does, Luke chirps, "Yay! Let's go to bed!" LOL. Steven's like, "Meh.." and makes it clear he'd much prefer to remain slumped in a chair and continue to be the world's biggest downer.
"Could you possibly try being a happy person?"
"Sorry, that notion doesn't compute."
Over at La Mirage, Adam meets up with his old college buddy - hey it's Russ from The Bionic Woman! When Claudia ambles over to the bar, Russ gives her an appreciative, not-so-subtle once over and tells her he's here to check out the hotel as a prospective venue for a big conference he's hosting. A few seconds later, Steven interrupts the conversation for a brief one-on-one with Claudia to needlessly inform her that he's decided to pursue a full on relationship with Luke. Claudia shrugs and says she used to hope she'd be his first choice of a partner...but now that she couldn't give the tiniest of rat's asses about who he sleeps with, she totally understands, loves him, and wishes him all the best.
In Moldavia, Prince Michael enters the sitting room where Alexis is lounging and getting caught up on her magazine reading. She greets him warmly, then explains that she's here on business, discussing potential oil lease profits with his father. She adds that Amanda sends her regards...and Prince Michael stares dreamily into space at the mention of Amanda and coos about what a lovely English rose she is. Alexis begins to lay it on thick about how much of social butterfly Amanda is being these days - but Prince Michael tells her that underneath it all she's a loving, tender gal who just needs to find the right man. Alexis comes right out and asks him if he could be that man - but Prince Michael looks pained when he says it wouldn't do any good if he were. Alexis implores him to toss the notion of duty aside by dumping the duchess and doing what's right for him.
Claudia meets with Russ to discuss booking his conference at the La Mirage. When he openly propositions her, she makes it clear that their interactions will be strictly business, and that getting her in the sack will not be part of any package deal.
A disgruntled Russ tells Adam he's seriously considering leaving Denver 'cause of how "tough and cold" Claudia is acting towards him - then come right out and says he doesn't take kindly to attractive women turning him down flat. Adam clucks sympathetically and says he figured he'd hit a wall with Claudia and decide to take his business elsewhere, and Russ says he has no qualms about doing that whenever "the cooperation is lacking". [Gross, Russ. I liked you so much better as Oscar's sidekick on The Bionic Woman.]
"I really hate it when the women I want to bone rebuff my attempts to bone them."
"I have a long history of hating that too."
Alexis and Galen are enjoying a game of gin when Alexis once again brings up the marriage issue and says it's pretty clear that Prince Michael has agreed to marry the duchess out of a sense of duty, not love. She reminds Galen that his father had rejected her as a prospective royal bride when they hooked up all those years ago...and that she's now blaming that rejection for the two shitty marriages she has under her belt:
- Blake, who banished her from Denver [after catching her in bed with Roger Grimes]
- Dex, who she's pretty sure is cheating on her [with Amanda, awkwardly enough]
Alexis poutishly implores Galen to reconsider condemning his son to a loveless marriage...and Galen mulls that over before cooing about how much he's thought about her over the years, especially what might have been. He says he'd really like it if they got it on tonight, then gives her a smooch while moaning, "I want you" ... and Alexis relaxes in his arms and gets more into the smoochfest.
When Krystle returns home, Gerard hands her another anonymous envelop that arrived in the mail...and inside she finds a photo of Blake and Ashley kissing in the game room. She marches over to the study to demand an explanation from Blake, and he looks bewildered that a compromising photo was taken from inside the mansion - but insists that it was nothing more than a friendly kiss. Krystle tells him she doesn't buy that and that for some time she's been wondering whassup with the two of them always flirting. Blake instantly gets peeved, pulls out the photo of her and Rock Hudson kissing...then holds the two photos side by side and growls, "Is there any comparison?!!" According to his reasoning, the fact that Rock was laying atop her makes that kiss so much worse than the harmless peck on the lips he got from Lady Ashley...and Krystle looks away shamefully as Blake shoves the photos in her face and barks, "Look!!!" What a fucktarded asshole he is.
"Admit what a shameless hussy you are!"
"I never should have agreed to wedding #2."
Over breakfast, Adam tells Blake that the booking of a big conference that was to be held at the La Mirage fell through, and points out that the hotel won't earn any revenue for the 100+ rooms that Russ was prepared to reserve. Blake's all, "Wuh?" and scrunches his face concernedly.
Blake summons Claudia to his office to ask whassup with the big conference falling through, and she assures him that she did everything she could professionally do to save the deal. Blake's all, "What do you mean professionally?" and Claudia clams up and says she doesn't want to get into Russ's icky sexual harassment. Blake tells her he has confidence in her hotel management skills - but reminds her that she's running the place on behalf of Little Blake...and that if she screws the pooch on the brat's inheritance, he's going to hold her accountable.
Claudia 'fesses up to Adam about how Russ came onto her, and how dickish Blake was to her about the whole thing. Adam smiles with smug satisfaction, says, "I told you so", and gleefully points out that the old goat finally revealed his true self to her. Claudia acknowledges that, yep, he definitely had been right about Blake all this time and feels foolish for not seeing this side of him before now.
Amanda is sitting idly by the penthouse fireplace when a weak looking Dex stumbles off the elevator and staggers toward her. Startled, Amanda asks him what he's doing out of the hospital, and he says he missed the penthouse and was determined to return home to his loving wife. Amanda asks if he's not tired of being bossed around by the shrew, and he's like, "Well d'yuh" and grumbles about how sick he is of all women, then suddenly feels so weakened that he nearly falls over. Amanda rushes over to him, props his arm over her shoulders...and is steering him towards the upper level stairs when Alexis and Prince Michael make an unexpected arrival. As Amanda shoots her mother the stink-eye for bringing the royal dork with her to America, Alexis responds by grinning cheekily and chirping, "Aren't you going to say hello?"

"I didn't tell you we weren't legally married 'cause I figured you probably wouldn't want to continue pretending to be married to someone who conned you into thinking we were married."
Original airdate: 2/27/1985
Episode summary: Dominique undergoes surgery to fix a heart valve. Jeff learns that Nicole conned him into a faux marriage and sends her packing. Dex moans Amanda's name while delirious with malaria.
Nicole whines to Jeff about how much she hates the smell of hospitals...then suggests that, as newlyweds, they should head back to the La Mirage and hit the dance floor. Jeff gives her a funny look and says that after witnessing Dominique's collapse, he's not in the mood to go dancing...and she rolls her eyes, bitches about how booooooring it is to wander the halls of Carrington manor every evening, and snaps, "I'm supposed to give up my entire life because someone I don't even know is sick?!" Jeff says he considers Dominique a family member, snaps, "Remember that!" and storms off, leaving Nicole staring after him unhappily.
Claudia calls Krystle to let her know about Dominique's collapse, then tells Adam that Krystle is on her way to the hospital. Adam winces and says that that's guaranteed to make Blake even more cranky than usual and reminds her that he had ordered everyone (but himself) to go home. Claudia says that Blake has every right to boss everyone around as "the head of the family", but Adam snorts derisively and says that Blake thinks of his family members as subjects who should never disobey him...and that one day soon she too will find herself in his cross-hairs and be on the receiving end of his pissy wrath.
Blake is pacing the length of Dominique's hospital room when Krystle tiptoes in and asks how she's doing. Blake says she's stable and that the doctors are looking into whether the reason for her collapse is her heart valve, then tells her to go home 'cause there's nothing she can do here. Krystle points out that there's nothing he can do here either, and that she'd like to stay so that she can be here for him and Dominique. Blake gives her a weak smile and says he's temporarily suspending his annoyance with her for kissing Rock Hudson in order to soak up her compassion.
Over at the penthouse, Alexis calls Dex's father to see if he has any clue where Dex might have disappeared to, but he tells her he has absolutely no idea. Alexis asks Amanda if Dex might have revealed what he was up to when they hung out in Acapulco, and Amanda says he didn't...but that she had things other than Dex on her mind during that vacay. Alexis grabs a box of chocolates and starts chowing down as she asks Amanda if she's done anything about that situation...and by that situation she means her now dormant relationship with Prince Michael. Amanda says there was no relationship and that he's engaged to a duchess - but Alexis waves her hand dismissively and says, "Engagements are made to be broken." Amanda implores her to focus on her own life and bitchily points out that, for starters, she might want to figure out where her husband fled to...then flounces upstairs, leaving Alexis shooting her the stink-eye.
"I can't pursue Prince Michael 'cause he's engaged to a duchess."
"Yes, but...as with wedding vows, engagements are made to be broken."
Over at the hospital, Dominique regains consciousness and has another coughing fit...and Blake and Krystle hover over her and coo that everything is going to be fine. The doctor informs Dominique that she's suffering from mitral stenosis, aka heart valve damage, and that surgery is required to fix the problem. Dominique looks stricken and moans about how she wants to die with dignity and has no regrets about her life should it suddenly end in this hospital bed - and the doctor gives her a funny look and says that since she's otherwise in good health, she'll likely be A-OK after the surgery.
Alexis reads about Dominique's collapse in the morning paper and instructs her Asian manservant Lin to order an extravagant bouquet of flowers and have it delivered to Dominique's hospital room. She then gets a call from Bolivia and looks intrigued about the info her contact there was able to dig up about Jeff's and Nicole's wedding.
Steven, Adam, and Jeff are at Denver Carrington, discussing their new partnership regarding the South China Sea oil leases. Steven says that ColbyCo really really wants to hire Dex's drilling company to extract the oil - and Adam snarks that Dex International is going to have to submit a formal bid, just like every other prospective drilling company. When Steven nonsensically accuses Adam of being disloyal to their mother (vis-à-vis not wanting to grease the hand of her husband), Jeff settles the dumb argument by firmly stating that if Dex International meets the bid, they'll do business with them. The meeting breaks up just as Lady Ashley in her stupid little ponytail 'do arrives to photograph Blake some more. Jeff explains that Blake is at the hospital, hovering over Dominique after she collapsed during the previous episode. He then gazes at Ashley all smitten-like and says he'd love to have dinner with her some time...and she flirty agrees - just as Jeff gets a call from Alexis, summoning him to ColbyCo.
Krystle asks Dominique if she wants her to call Billy Dee Williams and let him know she's being hospitalized - but Dominique adamantly refuses and says she doesn't want her soon-to-be ex-husband's pity.
Alexis informs Jeff that his marriage to Nicole isn't legal...and that since he showed up drunk to the ceremony, it was easy for Nicole to pay off an innkeeper and his wife to proclaim them husband and wife before shoving a phony marriage certificate at him and hoping to hell he'd buy the lie and never think to look into the legality of the paperwork. Jeff stares sheepishly into space for a few seconds before lamely saying, "Maybe I wanted to buy it" and explains that when he and Nicole were in Bolivia, he was drunk, tired, and didn't want to be alone anymore. Alexis shoots him a WTF? look and says that clearly Nicole took advantage of his grief over Fallon by conning him into installing her in Carrington manor as his new wife. She asks him what he's going to do about it now that he knows the truth, and he mulls that over and mumbles, "I'll do what I have to do."
"So whaddya have to say about this faux marriage bombshell?"
"Well...it wasn't all that bad of a fake marriage, as far as fake marriages go."
Luke arrives at the mansion to ask Steven for a recommendation so he can get a job elsewhere, then admits that he's purely using this as an excuse to drop in on him in person. When he confesses to Steven that he can't stop thinking about him, Steven says he's missed him too and that they need to talk somewhere more private...then ushers him out of the sitting room just as - ack! - Blake and Krystle return home. He introduces them to Luke as his "friend" while nervously hoping that the situation won't degenerate into another Ted Dinard/manslaughter situation - but Blake and Krystle just greet Luke politely, then go upstairs to retire for the night.
Dex staggers into the penthouse in his sweaty, weakened state...and Alexis hears the commotion and is all, "Dex..? Is that you?" She rushes downstairs in time to see Dex keel over in the foyer, and when she asks what in blazes is wrong with him, he starts twitching uncontrollably while moaning, "Chills.."
"I...said...I...have...the...chills."
"Oh thank goodness. I thought you just moaned Amanda's name."
In the next scene, we get some superfluous footage of the surgeons, headed by Dr. Chase, hovering over Dominique in their scrubs and startled by the discovery of a pesky tumor that's blocking her heart valve. Egads!
In the waiting room, Krystle tells Blake it's a shame that the person Dominique was closest to - Billy Dee Williams - is being kept away from her at a time when she needs him the most. She says it shouldn't take a health crisis for two people to realize how much they love each other, and Blake concurs - but then urges her to go home and get some rest. Krystle stares mutely into space for a few seconds before quietly exiting the room.
Alexis arrives at the hospital, finds Blake in the waiting room, and inquires about Dominique. He gruffly says she's in surgery, then grumbles about how she made Dominique's life hell with her attempted takeover of her company. Alexis haughtily replies, "At least I didn't kill Rashid Ahmed!" and Blake angrily reminds her that he had nothing to do with the man's death. Alexis sarcastically retorts, "So I read" and flounces off down the hall.
Alexis hovers over a delirious Dex, who starts moaning, "Alexis...Alexis...Amanda..?" LOL. Alexis looks put out by the unwitting moaning of her daughter's name by her husband and barks at the doctor to do something to help him. The doctor shrugs and says that Dex is just having some kind of malaria relapse - but that, finger's crossed, it doesn't look like his life is in danger. Dex moans, "Amanda...forgive me..." as Alexis poutishly glares at him before storming out of the room.
Blake asks the nurse if she can get him an update about how Dominique's surgery is going, but she tells him to chillax and that a surgeon will be out at some point to talk to him. Steven arrives to check in with Blake, who asks him whassup with him inviting Luke to the mansion last night. Steven says that he's pretty sure he still loves Claudia, but is absolutely certain he loves Luke and is tired of fighting his gay tendencies just so he can be the kind of son he (Blake) wants. Blake stares despondently into space for a few seconds, then says that after losing Fallon, he doesn't want to rehash all the tedious 'I hate having a gay son!' bitching from seasons past. He then steps toward Steven and gives him a really awkward looking hug.
"My gay impulses seem to be kicking in a lot more than usual lately."
"I'm thrilled for you, son."
Adam and Claudia arrive at the hospital to check in on Blake. As Adam ambles off to get some coffee, Blake tells Claudia that he spoke to Steven and knows he's newly hot for Luke. That said, he implores her to not simply abandon her marriage - but Claudia firmly says she's not waiting around for a formerly happily married man who is torn to pieces by his love for another man. Adam returns from his coffee run and overhears that last part, and snarks at Blake that Claudia can't force Steven to be straight. He admonishes Blake for trying to maintain a vision of what he wants everything to be, then hustles Claudia out of the room.
Back at Carrington manor, Jeff tells Krystle he dumped Nicole once he learned that she conned him into a fake marriage. As Krystle stares back at him in pensive shock, he assures her he's OK, and that he was pretty sure the chemistry-free relationship wasn't going to work out anyway. He then looks over at the Fallon portrait, contorts his face into a sad expression, and moans, "When will it stop hurrrrrrting?" Krystle says it'd help if he looked to the future instead of living in the past so damn much.
Lady Ashley drops by the hospital to chat with Blake while flirtily clasping his hands in hers. Krystle stands in the doorway of the waiting room to stare pensively at the cozy moment, then quietly walks off without making her presence known. A few seconds later, Dr. Chase enters the room to tell Blake that Dominique is finally out of surgery and is expected to fully recover.
Lady Ashley heads back to La Mirage, finds Jeff drinking at the bar, and seats herself next to him. When she asks whassup, he glumly tells her his sham marriage is over. She says that drinking won't solve his problems - but rebuffs his flirty proposition to head up to her room, and suggests they have dinner instead.
Dex regains consciousness while a suspicious looking Alexis is - ack! - hovering over him. He tells her he had a dream about her, and she nods and says she heard him calling out her name...then says that being delirious is a little like going to a confessional. When she asks him where he's been for the last two episodes, he murmurs, "It's a long story", then falls back asleep. Alexis shakes her head in dismay before storming out of the room.
Alexis heads back to ColbyCo and calls up King Galen of Moldavia. She reminds him about their romantic history and says that since Prince Michael is handsome and single and Amanda is ravishing and single, why the hell not pressure the two to get married?
Sounds perfectly reasonable.

Dominique's cinematic collapse
Original airdate: 2/20/1985
Episode summary: Krystle suspects Lady Ashley of sending compromising photos to her and Blake. Dominique emerges victorious in her company takeover spat with Alexis...then mysteriously collapses while performing at the La Mirage.
Alexis drops by Dominique's La Mirage suite to ask her if she lost her damn mind when she launched a takeover bid of ColbyCo. Dominique assures her she's of sound mind, and that the only reason she's doing this is 'cause of her attempt to seize control of Deveraux Industries (or whatever her company's called), then gleefully points out that ColbyCo is so vulnerable 'cause of all the available stock that's currently up for grabs. She promises to back off if she (Alexis) agrees to do the same, then defiantly growls, "You won't win this battle." Alexis retorts, "Don't make promises you can't keep" and flounces out of the suite...and Dominique starts coughing uncontrollably before touching her throat and staring worriedly into space about what the coughing fit could mean for the general state of her health.
Claudia is getting dressed after a passionate night with Adam, who has just emerged from the bathroom in nothing but a towel. She tells him that last night was a mistake 'cause technically she's still a married woman - but Adam snorts derisively and reminds her that Steven is a gay man who's in love with another gay man, and that he (Adam) is the only one them who truly cares about her. Claudia mulls that over and agrees that they do need each other - but when they start smooching, she warns against the perils of falling in love and getting hurt. He's like, "Whatever" and strips off her negligee in preparation for another amorous romp.
Blake is in his office, pretending to work while Lady Ashley photographs him. Dominique drops by, warmly greets Lady Ashley as she finishes her photo-ing and departs, and reports to Blake that Alexis somehow got wind of her takeover plans for ColbyCo. She reminisces about all the cat fights she's had in the music industry and how she had to claw her way to the top...then sadly says that Billy Dee Williams was always there to support her. Blake promises to be there for her while she spars with Alexis - but worries that Billy Dee might be persuaded to sell his stock to Alexis, who will then be in a position to "gobble up" her company. Dominique says she highly doubts that Billy Dee would ever turn against her like that, but Blake warns her to find him and be certain 'bout that before Alexis has a chance to sweet talk him into doing otherwise.
"If Alexis were up to a cat fight, I'd totally be game."
"That would definitely inject some life into this dull-as-fuck episode."
Alexis is in her ColbyCo office, trying to track down Dex, when Krystle storms in unannounced. She says that someone has been sending her photos of Blake canoodling with another woman, reminds her of the suntan lotion stunt she pulled in Italy, and demands to know if she's the culprit in this latest mindfuck. Alexis stares back at her blankly and says she has no idea what she's talking about, but advises her to look at "the person behind the camera" ... and/or whoever has the most to gain by breaking up her and Blake. Krystle mulls that over while staring contemplatively into space.
Dominique receives divorce papers from Billy Dee Williams, to which she responds by calling her flunky JJ and wailing into the phone, "What is he trying to dooooooo to us?! I love him! Find him for me!"
Steven drops by the La Mirage to talk to Claudia and remind her that she had wanted to remain friends post-marriage breakup - but she bitchily tells him that their marriage died when she saw him meet up with Luke for lunch. Steven explains that they only had lunch to officially mark the end of their relationship, but Claudia doesn't buy that and says she hopes he won't be a dick about her continuing to spend time with Danny.
That evening, Claudia phones Adam at the mansion to report how mean Steven was to her earlier and that she hopes she can still be in Danny's life. Jeff ambles into the study and overhears Adam tell Claudia to focus on him (not Steven) and their newly developed lust for each other...and when Adam ends the call, Jeff chides him for coming onto Claudia and snarks, "You're trying to steal what isn't yours." Adam smugly retorts that despite his attempts to worm his way into Blake's favor, he's his actual son and will always be of greater importance to the old man. As he strides out of the room, Jeff grabs him by the arm and warns him not to walk out on him...which Adam reacts to by punching him in the face. Blake, who just happens to hear the scuffle while walking down the hall, rushes into the study and finds the two idiots rolling around on the floor, arms and legs flailing. He orders them to stop the unsightly wrestling and demands to know what's going on. Jeff blames Adam for throwing the first punch...and when Blake glares over at Adam, Adam gets irked at his father for never taking his side. After he storms out of the room, Blake presses Jeff for an explanation as to the source of the argument, but Jeff keeps mum and says he can handle Adam on his own.
Jeff, Nicole, and Little Blake (LB) are over at Alexis' penthouse for lunch. Nicole admonishes LB for repeatedly kicking her under the table...and when LB denies it, she snaps, "Are too!" LOL. Alexis suggests the brat go and play with the new toy she just bought for him...and the kid perks up at the mention of his new toy, deliberately knocks a glass of water onto Nicole's lap as he hops out of his seat, and scampers off to play. Nicole leaps up and shrieks that the "spoiled little brat" obviously did that on purpose...then makes a visible effort to cool down and explain to Alexis that even though she was married once before, she never had children and isn't used to being around them. When Alexis stares at Jeff in puzzlement at her mention of a previous marriage, he explains that Nicole is Eurotrash's widow.
Lady Ashley is in the nursery, taking photographs of Blake holding Kristina. Lady Ashley gushes about how Kristina is "very beautiful" and "real Carrington stock" - just as Krystle enters the room and looks dismayed by the cozy vibe between her and Blake. Blake introduces the two, and Ashley explains that she's doing a quick nursery shoot for her new photo essay book. She then suggests that Krystle, Blake, and the baby pose for her...and as she snaps away, Krystle has an audio flashback of Alexis saying "look at the person behind the camera" and glares at her suspiciously.
Alexis asks Jeff whassup with him marrying the widow of the man who Fallon was jetting off somewhere with when she died, and Jeff shrugs sheepishly and says he was too shit-faced at the time of the wedding ceremony to realize that he was slurring legally binding wedding vows. A dismayed Alexis offers to help him get out of this wretched entanglement, but Jeff insists on staying married to Nicole, mostly 'cause she seems to be extremely devoted to him. Alexis stares at him incredulously and urges him to find a woman who's actually worthy of him, and who can be a caring stepmother to his brat - but Jeff stubbornly insists that he wants to make the best of his dysfunctional marriage. After he storms out of the room, Alexis makes a beeline over to the phone and calls up the U.S. embassy in Bolivia.
"Why on earth would you marry an opportunistic slut like Nicole?"
"In a word: liquor."
Dominique meets up with Blake in his office to worriedly wring her hands about the possibility of losing control of her company. Blake tells her to get in touch with Billy Dee asap, and if necessary beg him to keep hold of his stock. Dominique promises to do her best to track him down [I thought JJ was on the case??], then heads out. After that, Blake receives a call from his PI, Tony Nelson, who reports that despite his best efforts he has no usable info on who's been sending him canoodly photos of Krystle and Rock Hudson.
Over dinner, Alexis reminds Amanda once again what a great catch Prince Michael is, and that when one finds a prince, "one should know what to do with him". Amanda shrugs disinterestedly and says she's not the least bit sorry to no longer be seeing the royal dork, then changes the subject and asks what Dex has been up to lately. Alexis breezily says she has no idea and really couldn't give a shit.
Dex is in rustic sleeping quarters in Paraguay, dreaming that Alexis is accusing him of playing games while Amanda lays naked on a fur rug, poutishly declaring, "I want you, Dex". Dex wakes up screaming - LOL - just as a military flunky rushes into his tent and tells him that Rock Hudson needs to see him right away.
Lady Ashley is in her La Mirage suite and has all of the developed photos she's taken of Blake for her photo essay book strewn about. Krystle drops by unexpectedly and wanders around the suite, staring at the photos and asking her if she uses a special lens to shoot from far away, and if she always using the same mailing envelopes...which, she quietly notes, look exactly like the ones the compromising photos were contained in. Lady Ashley tells Krystle she gets the feeling she came here to accuse her of something...and Krystle says she was but now thinks she was mistaken, then awkwardly beats a hasty retreat.
Dominique gets Billy Dee on the phone as she's enjoying a relaxing bubble bath, and tells him she doesn't want a divorce, but won't stand in the way of him obtaining one. She asks him if Alexis has been in touch regarding his stocks, then has another brief coughing fit. She recovers enough to bitchily demand an answer to her question...then stares angrily into space while the scene fades to black for a commercial break.
Lady Ashley drops by Blake's office to tattle to Blake about Krystle's visit to her hotel suite and all the strange questions about photography she was asking. Blake scrunches his wrinkly face confusedly as Ashley adds that it felt to her as though Krystle were accusing her of trying to do damage to her marriage.
Alexis is watching World News in her office...and when the anchorwoman reports that Billy Dee Williams declined to sell any of his stock to Alexis (not sure how that tidbit would get onto the world news airwaves), Alexis gets so enraged that she throws a giant glass cigarette lighter at the TV set, causing a minor explosion. Dominique enters her office at that exact moment and cries, "Bravo!", and Alexis glares over at her and asks her if she's here to gloat. Dominique's like, "Well d'yuh" and says she's also here to give her fair warning to look over her shoulder every time she makes any kind of business deal.
"In obscure oil company related news, Alexis Colby was unable to buy out Billy Dee Williams' shares of his wife's company."
"You bitch!"
At the La Mirage dinner, Blake toasts Dominique - who's decked out in a one poofed sleeve dress - and calls her "the victor" in her latest skirmish with Alexis. Dominique concurs that, as Carringtons, they've beaten Alexis and adds that she's greatly enjoying sharing the victory with her newly accepting family. She coughs for a few seconds before getting on stage to entertain everyone with some lounge music - but in mid-song her coughing gets so bad that she starts retching up blood, then suddenly collapses. Everyone's all, "Wha-a-a-t's happening?!" and crowds around her motionless body, while Blake yells at no one in particular to call an ambulance.

Blake and Alexis form an unholy alliance
Original airdate: 2/13/1985
Episode summary: Rock Hudson declares his love to Krystle, while Blake continues to flirt with Lady Ashley. Prince Michael informs Amanda that he's betrothed to another. After an argument with Alexis, Dex leaves the U.S. to participate in a military mission in Paraguay.
In Acapulco, Amanda declines a dinner invitation with Prince Michael over the phone, then tells Alexis she's not in the mood to see him tonight. Alexis is all, "Wha-a-a?" and reminds her that the royal dork is considered "the catch" of her generation, and that at best she's demonstrating poor judgement by not aggressively trying to sink her hooks into him. She asks Amanda if Dex's negative 'tude about the prince is affecting her desire to want to pursue him, but Amanda haughtily retorts that Dex's opinions don't interest her in the least...and that she has a sneaking suspicion that life in Prince Michael's royal orbit would end up being a dictatorial and chauvinistic cesspool.
Blake calls Krystle to tell her he wasn't happy about how their earlier phone conversation went. He explains that when Alexis was in his hotel suite and answered the phone, Lady Ashley Mitchell and Minister Han were also in the room. Krystle says she's fairly confident that he's not stepping out on her with Alexis, then apologizes for being snippy and explains she's mostly annoyed about being told not to come to Acapulco when it's clear he would have had plenty of down time to hang with her and Kristina. Fair point. Blake's like, "Whatever" and ends the call with a mumbley good night, leaving Krystle staring pensively into space and wondering aloud if things between her and goat daddy will ever be as A-OK as they were in previous seasons.
Alexis has decked herself out in a white dress with scarily ruffled sleeves and tells Dex and Amanda that she ordered room service for dinner...and invited Prince Michael to join them. A few seconds later, the food arrives...along with Prince Michael, who glances around the room and smarmily wishes Alexis, Dex, and Amanda a pleasant evening. As Amanda glares over at Alexis in annoyance, Prince Michael recalls running into Alexis earlier...and when she noticed his long face at the prospect of dining alone, she invited him to drop by her suite for some room service food. He then claps his hands at a couple of loitering manservants, and they hastily carry in several ginormous flower bouquets to serve as a lavish thank you to Alexis for her gracious invitation.
"My poofy sleeves and I would be honored if Your Highness joined us for dinner."
"Even by '80s fashion standards those are some wild looking sleeves."
While dancing, Lady Ashley babbles about the awesome marriage she had with her rich, late husband and coquettishly says that when one thing ends, another begins. Mmm hmm..
Dex asks Alexis why she's working overtime to push Amanda into Prince Michael's arms - and Alexis snarkishly asks if he'd rather she pushed Amanda into his arms. Dex pretends to look appalled by what she's implying and snaps, "What the hell are you talking about?" Alexis shoots him a look of disgust and says she's well acquainted with the male psyche...and that while she has no problem with a little harmless flirting [even between her own husband and daughter, weirdly enough], she's pretty sure his brazen lust for Amanda is grounds for divorce. Dex denies having feelings for Amanda or any other woman except his wife - but Alexis lets out a caustic laugh and says she doesn't buy that for a second. Dex sexily offers to prove how into her - and only her - he is, but she's like, "Nope, not interested" and bitchily announces that she's off to contemplatively walk on the beach by herself.
Jeff hand delivers a large envelop that just arrived for Krystle, and when she opens it she finds a photograph of Blake and Lady Ashley dancing after their after dinner drink in Acapulco. She stares at it pensively for a few seconds and wonders aloud who could possibly be interested enough in her dull-as-fuck marriage to goat daddy to be sending her this shit.
Nicole asks Jeff, who's just returned to their bedroom after a morning jog, if his early start means she'll be eating breakfast alone...and he's like, "Well duh. That's what happens when you sleep in past 9:00am." She asks him whassup with his shitty mood lately...and when he grunts something unintelligible, she chides him for closing himself off and not giving her a chance to prove what an amaaazing wife she can be, and someone who can come to mean as much to him as Fallon did. Jeff snappishly orders her to not utter Fallon's name in his presence, and Nicole sassily reminds him what a slutty dimwit Fallon was, and that she abandoned him on their wedding day and then died alongside her Eurotrash lover. Jeff becomes enraged at the smack talk about his ex-beloved and swings an arm behind him like he's winding up to slug Nicole across the face...and she's all, "Ack!", collapses into his arms, whimpers, "Sorry.." and explains that she has feelings for him that run just as deeply as the feelings he once had for Fallon. She tells him she's not above begging him to get naked and enjoy a morning romp between the sheets, but he coldly says he doesn't have time and needs to get to the office pronto. Ouch.
"I consider myself an upgrade from your slutty she-devil of an ex-wife."
"I shall calmly restrain myself from punching you in the face."
After wrapping up a game of backgammon, Prince Michael tells Amanda he gets the feeling there's someone (besides him) she's romantically interested in. When she weakly denies it, he tells her he's falling in love with her and amorously begs, "Let me love you" before pressing against her for an intense smooch.
Lady Ashley asks Alexis whassup with Dex and his nefariousness in trying to steal oil leases away from Blake by convincing the Chinese to do business with an unnamed company they don't trust, and then taking over the lease deals (that will inevitably be withdrawn) so they'll be under the control of ColbyCo and Dexter International. Alexis calls that accusation slanderous, then accuses Lady Ashley of being openly smitten with Blake. When Lady Ashley hotly insists she has zero interest in goat daddy, Alexis cackles about how she obviously just hit a nerve.
Dex staggers back to the hotel suite after staying out all night...and when Alexis confronts him about his nefarious plot to screw up Blake's oil lease deals, he confesses his guilt and says he figured it'd make her happy to acquire the leases. Alexis angrily retorts that she doesn't approve of him making decisions without discussing them with her first...and he growls about how sick he is of her control issues. Alexis snarks that he did this purely to soothe his guilty conscience for lusting after Amanda...and when he storms out, she screeches, "Don't come baaaaack!!"
Claudia arrives at Carrington manor to take Danny to the park and speak privately with Steven. She tells him she hopes he can get over his pissy attitude towards her so they can be on more friendly terms - but he poutishly says he doubts that's possible, then insists again he's finished with Luke and all things homosexual. He assures her he's committed to leading a normal hetero family life...and that if she refuses to resume their shitty marriage he'll be like, "Next!" and find another woman to settle down with. As Claudia ponders her indifference at being replaced by an unsuspecting new wife-beard, the nanny delivers Danny to the sitting room...and she coos at the tot about all the fun they're going to have in the park.
"If you refuse to fall in line, I will pissily ignore your presence and begin an immediate search for your replacement."
"Sounds like a win-win."
Rock Hudson and a flunky named Pete are opening large wooden boxes filled with weaponry for the upcoming rescue mission in Paraguay when Charles and Dex saunter into the building. Dex tells Rock he's changed his mind about the mission and is eager to play G.I. Joe in Paraguay after all - but Rock warns him it's a dangerous job, and that he needs cool thinkers around him...not a man who's temporarily warm around the collar after arguing with his wife. Dex insists that he's totes dedicated to the mission, understands the risks, and knows that the team needs him...and Rock mulls that over and decides 'ah fuck it, why the hell not?'
"I'm ready to participate in the Paraguay rescue, mostly 'cause I'm currently very mad at my wife."
"That's exactly the kind of grit I'm looking for."
After a night of passionate doinking, Prince Michael joins Amanda in the shower and gives her a long sexy smooch. Later, over breakfast, she tells him she'll probably be heading back to Denver now that the conference is wrapping up...and Michael moans about missing the opportunity to acquire any of Blake's oil leases, and is heartbroken that she's about to leave Mexico. In the next breath, he warns her that when he gets home he prolly won't be calling her 'cause he'll be too busy with the preparations for his duchess fiancee's twenty-first birthday party. Amanda stares woodenly into space as she murmurs, "I see" ... and Michael hastily explains that he only proposed to the duchess 'cause his father ordered him to, and insists that he's not in love with her. He tells Amanda he cares for her very much and would somehow like the chance to prove it, but Amanda just shrugs indifferently and tells him to "save it" before rushing off to get dressed.
"I can't call you anymore 'cause I'm engaged to a duchess."
"I couldn't give any less of a shit if I tried."
Rock Hudson stops by Carrington manor to bid Krystle adieu before flying south. He gives her a number she can call if she needs to get in touch with him - but she tells him it won't be necessary 'cause they've already said everything there is to say. He sadly points out that he's just as rich and powerful as Blake and would never let the ogre separate her from her daughter...but when Krystle responds by staring pensively into space, he kisses her hand and coos, "I love you" before promising to come back for her someday.
Adam arrives downtown to help Claudia with a car problem...and when Claudia happens to look across the street, she notices Steven and Luke meet up on the street and then enter a restaurant together. She angrily mutters, "He promised me.." while she and Adam stare at each other incredulously.
Luke tells Steven he's accepted the fact that their relationship is no more, and that he's planning to resign from ColbyCo and get himself settled elsewhere. Steven tells him that while he totally digs him, he's turning his back on the gay lifestyle in favor of living life as a married straight-gay man in total denial about his sexuality. Luke shrugs and is all, "OK, dude. Good luck with that."
Lady Ashley enters the hotel dining room and joins Blake, who's getting ready to fly back to Denver. She asks him if she can start photographing him for her new book, then accidentally knocks over his briefcase that contains the photograph of Krystle and Rock Hudson. Blake grunts in irritation as he hurriedly gathers his scattered papers.
Over drinks at the La Mirage, Adam tells Claudia it's probably for the best that she saw Steven and Luke covertly meeting at a restaurant, 'cause now she can stop trying to save her hopeless marriage. Claudia grumbles about how much she hates that Steven lied to her about wanting to go hetero - but Adam urges her to chillax and clear her mind by getting some rest. She stares at him longingly, asks him to hold her hand, then says she doesn't want to be alone tonight...and he perks up at that and kisses her hand and cheek.
Krystle is reading by the fireplace when Blake returns to Carrington manor. He grimly tells her he has something to show her, then pulls out the photos he received of her canoodling with and smooching Rock Hudson. Krystle stares at the photos in pensive horror and explains that nothing more happened, then admonishes him for not trusting her. Blake furrows his brows and asks if she wants to remain his wife or run off with Rock Hudson...and, instead of answering, she just stares back at him in mute incredulity.

"I'm just so worried that goat daddy and I are drifting further and further apart."
Original airdate: 2/6/1985
Episode summary: In Acapulco, Amanda meets Prince Michael of Moldavia, while Blake flirtily banters with Lady Ashley Mitchell. Claudia tells Steven she's done being his wife-beard, and Krystle and Rock Hudson share a tender moment after a riding accident.
Alexis drops by Blake's hotel suite in Acapulco...and when Blake demands to know what the hell she's doing here, she tells him she's here to talk business - just like all the other big oil producers who are in attendance at this hastily-put-together auction. Blake excuses himself from the room when His Royal Highness, Prince Michael of Moldavia calls...and naturally Krystle chooses that moment to call Blake on the second line. Alexis answers - but Krystle is so befuddled to hear Alexis answer Blake's phone, that she scrunches her face in bemused irritation before hanging up. When Blake reenters the room, Alexis tells him she wants her fair share of the oil leases, and he's like, "No. Now get the hell out of my hotel suite."
Rock Hudson startles Krystle in the stables as she's brushing out her horse...and when she finishes up with the grooming, she says she needs to head home now. Rock snarks at her for always running off and asks her if she's lost her nerve regarding her horse breeding venture, and says this isn't the type of business she can run half-heartedly. Krystle denies being half-hearted about it and says she intends to stick by her commitment...and he nods his approval and tells her that this was another of his bullshit tests to gauge how strongly she can hold her ground when someone questions how serious she is about raising Arabians. She smiles with relief that she passed his test (?) and somehow refrains from calling him out for always acting like such an obnoxious tool.
Amanda joins Blake in the dining room and tells him how much fun she's having - but that she needs to find herself a tennis partner. A few seconds later, an attractive young man in a white shirt and pants approaches their table...and Amanda assumes he's the waiter and asks him to bring her some water. The man looks amused and grabs the nearest glass of water from an adjacent table...and an equally-as-amused looking Blake introduces him to Amanda as Prince Michael of Moldavia. Amanda looks mortified and chides Blake for not alerting her to his royal status before she made a giant arse of herself - but Prince Michael gazes at her all smitten-like and says he enjoyed being mistaken for a waiter. After Amanda dashes off to play tennis, Lady Ashley Mitchell arrives in the dining room and tells Blake she's in Acapulco mostly to photograph the VIPs, then invites him to the big party she's throwing tonight for all of the oil business bigwigs.
"Bring me a Perrier on the rocks, and don't skimp on the lime."
"Despite my royal station in life, I've always enjoyed being mistaken for a waiter."
Nicole has on the sparkly red dress that Fallon's immortalized in in her portrait, and is admiring herself in the mirror when Jeff enters the room. He immediately gets enraged at the sight of her in Fallon's clothes, tells her she has no right to wear his ex/future wife's dresses, and orders her to take it off. When he tries to forcibly remove it, she smacks him across the face and yells at him to get away from her.
In the La Mirage dining room, Adam laments to Claudia that Blake no longer trusts him, and grumbles about being excluded from the Acapulco trip. He says he still feels like an interloper, even after all these years of trying to make up for lost time on account of his kidnapping...then snaps, "I will have what is mine!" while banging both hands on the table. Claudia looks alarmed by his outburst - but then jokes about how pathetic and self-piteous the two of them currently are. Adam clutches her hands and assures her they'll get through their respective emotional crises.
Alexis and Lady Ashley are sharing a glass of wine on Alexis' terrace. Lady Ashley teasingly asks Alexis if she wants her help with Blake's oil leases...then goes, "Nah nah, you can't have it." Alexis promises to make it worth her while, but Lady Ashley declines...and is coy about what she's really after in Acapulco, then mutely leaves the suite. That was one nonsensical scene...and some cringey wooden acting from Ali McGraw.
Claudia heads over to Carrington manor to tell Steven she spent the entire night thinking about her current wife-beard situation...and came to the conclusion that she has zero desire to wait around while he agonizes ad fucking nauseam over his ever-shifting 'am I gay, straight, or somewhere in-between?' conundrum. She says she won't continue to be "a screen to hide behind" ... and until he can make a firm decision about whether or not he wants to fully function in a hetero marriage, she's outa here.
"I don't want to be your wife-beard anymore."
"I could definitely use some tips on that kind of firm decision-making."
Blake receives an envelop with no return address and inside finds a photograph of Krystle and Rock Hudson, smiling in each other's company. He stares at it, his wrinkly face scrunched in puzzlement.
Dex chats with Minister Han (of the Chinese delegation) about how he once rescued his son from something POW-related and is now ready to call in a favor after performing that heroic deed. A few seconds later, Alexis saunters over and tries to persuade Minister Han to partner with ColbyCo in developing Denver Carrington's oil leases...and he seems mildly intrigued by that prospect.
Prince Michael stands behind Amanda and coos, "Dance with me, Amanda Carrington", and she sassily retorts that she doesn't take orders from anyone. He smarmily says he'd be the saddest of princes if she declines, so she smiles and gives in. Dex, meanwhile, has noticed the two of them pressed together on the dance floor and is creepily staring at them from his table. When the dance ends, he pissily asks Amanda if she enjoyed dancing with his royal highness, and she's all, "Yep. Jealous much?" and he chuckles at the "absurdity" of that and claims he's merely concerned 'cause of what a player Michael is. Amanda shrugs unconcernedly, says she has a date lined up with the prince tomorrow, then flounces back over to him and invites him to continue dancing with her. Alexis appears out of nowhere and remarks to Dex how stunning Amanda and Prince Michael look on the dance floor, and he mumbles something in the affirmative.
The next morning at breakfast, Alexis seats herself at Blake's table and reminds him of what an excellent businesswoman she is, and that Minister Han is open to the idea of all three of them working together. Blake firmly tells Alexis his answer is always going to be a hard no - but Alexis huffily insists she wants the oil leases and refuses to take no for an answer.
Nicole shoots Fallon's portrait the stink-eye and nonsensically accuses, "You're winning again, aren't you?" A few seconds later, Jeff enters the room to apologize for his behavior earlier and presents her with an expensive bracelet...and Nicole gushes at its sparkliness, then assures Jeff she totally gets how much he misses Fallon - but vows to make him love her. When Little Blake (hereafter to be referred to as LB now that Jeff has officially re-nicknamed him) ambles into the room, Jeff proposes they all go for a ride. He's all, "Hurray!" but makes it clear he doesn't want Nicole to come along, 'cause Fallon is the only mommy he'll ever love.
"A phony like you will never hold a candle to my pre-recast portrait."
"You are such an inanimate bitch."
After dinner in the hotel restaurant, Amanda bids Prince Michael goodnight and invites him to call her in the morning. Dex, who continues to creepily watch her interact with the prince, admonishes her wanton behavior and accuses her of unwittingly giving the Chinese delegation the impression that if Prince Michael beds her, it'll vastly increase his chances of acquiring Blake's oil leases. Amanda coquettishly says she'll bed the prince whenever she's ready to be bedded by him, then smugly says good night and flounces off to her room.
The next morning, Amanda hangs with Alexis in her suite and gabbles about how Prince Michael invited her to visit his kingdom of Moldavia - just as Dex returns from playing an invigorating game of tennis. Amanda smugly announces that she's off to go sailing with her new royal boyfriend...and once she's out of earshot, Dex asks Alexis if she approves of Amanda's dalliance with such a brazen playboy. Alexis says she wants Amanda to live her life to the fullest, then asks him why he's so interested in who she dates...and doesn't seem to sense anything amiss when, instead of answering, Dex just stares sullenly into space.
During a private meeting, Minister Han tells Blake he likes the idea of partnering with ColbyCo and Denver Carrington to develop the oil leases - but Blake argues that that particular threesome would lead to nothing but problems. When Blake is called away to take a call from Krystle, Lady Ashley pulls Minister Han aside and diplomatically explains that Blake and Alexis have been divorced for years, run rival companies, and generally hate each other's guts. She says it would be far better if he worked with Blake as a sole partner in this venture, and Minister Han mulls that over and decides 'sure, why the hell not?' After he leaves, Lady Ashley suggests to Blake that they have a drink, relax, and chat about how beautiful Krystle is - but says he'd rather not talk about his wife while they flirtily banter. Lady Ashley chuckles and muses about what "a real catch" he'd be if he were a bachelor on the open dating market, and Blake smiles blushingly in response. LOL. Be still my beating heart.
"Imagine you were a bachelor...my goodness, the ladies would be forming a line around the block."
"Hee...tell me again what a silver fox I am."
As the two ride along the estate, Krystle's demented horse begins galloping out of control. Rock frantically yells, "Rein him in hard!", but a hapless Krystle flies off the horse and rolls down a short ravine. Rock leaps off of his horse and comes running over to where her rolling finally came to a stop...and is relieved that she doesn't appear to be seriously hurt. The two stare longingly at each other as he hovers over her, then leans in and plants her with a giant smooch.

"Would you mind terribly if I rubbed it in Alexis' face that you doinked her husband?"
Original airdate: 1/30/1985
Episode summary: Amanda moves into Carrington manor when the canoodling between Dex and Alexis proves too much for her to handle. Blake rebuffs Krystle's attempts to include him in her passion for horses. Steven attempts to reconcile with Claudia.
Blake and Adam return to the mansion from their Paris trip, and are greeted by Jeff. Blake tells him they approached Lady Ashley Mitchell for some diplomatic smoothing over after a cultural misunderstanding with the Chinese, then shoots Adam a hate-filled stink-eye for being the dumbfuck who caused the cultural misunderstanding. A few seconds later, Nicole ambles over with Little Blake, who's off to the zoo with his nanny...since it doesn't look like either his dad or new stepmom has any interest in spending the afternoon with the tot.
Adam drops by the penthouse and confirms to Alexis that Lady Ashley Mitchell helped Blake reconvene a meeting with the Chinese so they could reach a deal regarding his oil leases. Alexis wonders aloud which bank(s) Blake will approach in order to borrow the funds he'll need to develop the leases, then asks Adam if he knows anything 'bout that. Adam says he has no idea what Blake's plans are, not least 'cause Blake doesn't trust him or anyone else enough to reveal them. Alexis wanks Adam by assuring him that she trusts him, and urges him to jump ship and come work with her at ColbyCo. Adam firmly tells her he has no intention of being disloyal to Blake, regardless of what an insufferable dickwad he's currently being towards him, and says she's going to have to find another source for this kind of intel. After he leaves, Alexis stares contemplatively into space before placing a call to Lady Ashley.
Krystle returns to Carrington manor after a long horseback ride and finds Blake in the nursery, cooing at Kristina. Blake tells her his business trip was a great success and vaguely adds that he got some "outside assistance" ... and a disinterested Krystle's like, "That's nice" and gabbles about how much she's learning about raising horses, and herself in the process. She says that while she expects to make mistakes, she fully intends to succeed at something without his help, guidance, or bossy dickery. Blake glares irritably into space for a few seconds before saying he's done talking about this now...and Krystle accuses him of being dismissive about something that has become a source of deep fulfillment for her. She natters about how much she loooooves watching colts being born and haaaaaates that he never wants to share any of it with her...and Blake points out that she routinely shuts him out of her horse hobby 'cause she's [justifiably] afraid he'll take over the entire operation, and this leaves no real opportunity for him to share any part of it with her. Krystle refrains from acknowledging that that's actually a pretty good point, and just stares silently into space as he bitchily stalks out of the room to make some business calls.
"I'm really bummed that I can't share my new passion with you."
"It's all I can do to give the tiniest rat's ass about your horse fetish."
In the next scene, Amanda has hurriedly packed her bags and raced over to Carrington manor. She whimpers to Blake about how she can't stand living with mummy and Dex anymore, and Blake assures her it's all good and that she doesn't need permission to sponge off of him by living in his mansion rent free...'cause, after all, non-blood relatives like Jeff and his skanky wife Nicole are shamelessly doing it.
The following morning, Alexis barges into Blake's office to haughtily announce that she wants in on the South China Sea oil leases. Blake tells her he's not remotely interested in doing business with her and to go pee up a rope - just as she spots a photograph that Lady Ashley took of Blake in Paris and autographed. She cackles about how beautiful Lady Ashley is before sashaying towards the door.
Back at the mansion, Amanda is sketching in the study when Dex drops by to apologize for his dickish behavior towards her and is sorry he hurt her feelings after his impulsive boning of her. Amanda snarkishly retorts that she doubts he'd change anything about their impromptu doink - just as Blake enters the room to see whassup with Dex being in his house. Amanda says that Dex was just leaving...and once he's out of earshot, Blake asks her if she's OK. She breezily replies that he just came to make peace between her and Alexis, and Blake stares back at her with a skeptical expression etched across his wrinkly face.
Blake heads upstairs, where he finds Steven reading a bedtime story to Danny. After the nanny takes Danny off to bed, Blake tells Steven he's been thinking a lot about "how right" his marriage to Claudia was, and that he shouldn't throw away the chance to be a hetero married man. Steven mulls that over while staring contemplatively into space.
Nicole tells Jeff that she and Little Blake are starting to become pals...and that after a long chat with Krystle, she feels as though they understand each other better. Jeff shrugs indifferently and tells her not to worry so much about what everyone else thinks, then glumly says he doubts he can ever really be happy again. Nicole fondles his bare chest and says she'll take that as a personal challenge, then steers him towards the bed. The two cackle sexily at each other as she takes off her robe...and he carefully lays her on the bed in a way that prevents the cameraman from getting a direct shot of her naughties, then mounts her.
"I'm pretty sure that, henceforth, sadness will be my only emotion."
"Perhaps a naked romp will help."
Blake tells Krystle he plans to host an event in Acapulco to auction off 25% of his South China Sea leases so he can raise the capital he needs in order to continue with his oil drilling...and smugly adds that he's pretty confident there'll be a stampede of business people who want to bid on the leases. Krystle says she's disappointed that he's jetting off again when he just returned from Paris, then gets a call from someone at Delta Rho, informing her that one of her colts is sick. She tells Blake she needs to deal with this crisis pronto, and rushes off.
The veterinarian tells Krystle that the [perfectly healthy looking] colt is far too diseased with colitis to live a fruitful life, and recommends putting it down. Krystle stares back at him in horror, refuses to give up the colt, and orders the vet to do everything in his power to save the poor animal.
At ColbyCo, Steven and Luke are putting the final touches on a press release when Steven wearily says, "We need to talk" and natters some bullcack about how frightened he is about how much he cares for him, while at the same time fears losing a sense of who he is and what he wants out of life. He says that while he loves him, he hates the idea of living the gay lifestyle and would prefer to work things out with Claudia so he can go back to being part of a traditional family unit. He embraces Luke for one last goodbye hug - just as Claudia appears in the doorway with a knowing look on her face. She bitchily says, "One of these days I'll learn to knock", and Steven explains that he was just now saying goodbye to Luke so he could work on resuming their marriage. He assures her that his fling with Luke is over, and promises from now on to be the world's most faithful, awesome husband.
Billy Dee Williams is angry at Dominique for all the globe trotting she's been doing with Blake, and warns her that a phantom company has been making moves to take control of her company...and that he suspects it's Blake. Dominique says that's not possible, and reminds Billy Dee that she just inherited $100 million from Blake's/her father and can use those resources to fight off whatever phantom company is trying to destroy her. Billy Dee nonsensically refuses to consider that option and bitterly accuses her of wanting the spotlight all to herself.
Dominique barges into Alexis' ColbyCo office, immaculately styled in a brown wool coat and matching fur hat, to confront Alexis about being behind the phantom company that's trying to take over her company. Alexis admits, "Yep, that's me all right" - LOL - and agrees to back off if Dominique caves to her demands:
- sign over the 40% share of Denver Carrington she owns
- resign as Tom Carrington's executor
- leave Denver
Dominique warns Alexis that she's pushing her too far, and makes it clear that she has no intention of crawling into the gutter with her, despite being a gritty street fighter herself.
"I propose you give me your company, all of your money, and leave town immediately."
"I propose we both dive into a muddy pond and hash out our differences there."
Billy Dee Williams tells Dominique he found someone to help finance her fight against the takeover attempt - but Dominique turns that down and says she's putting all of her trust in Blake to help her out with the situation. Billy Dee gets enraged and snarks about not being needed in their marriage anymore...and when Dominique implores him to accept her alliance with Blake, he violently shoves her away from him and barks, "We're through!" Dominique stares at him in shock and cries, "Noooooo!!" as he storms out of her suite. Seems like a crazed overreaction to what sounds to me like a sensible business decision, but OK.
Blake cheers up a morose Amanda by inviting her along to his auction in Acapulco, and she perks up and is all, "Hurra!"
Amanda phones Alexis to needlessly report that she's off to Acapulco with Blake, and adds that it's probably a good thing if they don't see each other for awhile. After the call, Alexis scans the newspaper and cries out gleefully when she finds a blurb about Blake's upcoming oil lease auction in Acapulco. Dex overhears her happy squeals and says he plans on going too, and explains that he has some unrelated business with Blake that needs resolving.
"I'm off to Acapulco to bid on Blake's oil leases!"
"I'll be there for an entirely different purpose to monitor your interactions with Blake."
Krystle bursts into the study to happily declare to Blake that she and Kristina are accompanying him to Acapulco. He frowns in response and tells her it's not a vacation, and that he'll be working around the clock. He says he'll only be away a couple of days and promises to arrange a pleasure trip for them after the auction - just as Krystle stares down at his desk and notices the signed photograph of him that was taken by Lady Ashley. She cryptically replies, "So much can happen in a couple of days", then dejectedly wanders out of the room.
Alexis is packing when Lady Ashley returns her call. Alexis informs her about Blake's oil lease auction in Acapulco and invites her to come as her guest, and is thrilled when Ashley's like 'sure, why the hell not?'

Alexis looks fabulous while suffering from a faux migraine
Original airdate: 1/23/1985
Episode summary: Blake turns to a rich widow named Lady Ashley Mitchell when he needs help negotiating with a Chinese delegation. Steven decides 'ah fuck it, I'm gay' and hooks up with Luke. Krystle buys her first Arabian.
Rock Hudson accompanies Krystle to a horse breeder so she can look over the available horses and make her first purchase. He briefly schools her on what to look for in an Arabian...then abruptly says he's gotta go and good luck with that.
After horse shopping, Krystle returns to the mansion and excitedly tells Blake she bought her first Arabian today...and he's like, "Whoopee shit" and sarcastically asks if her "partner" approved of her choice. Krystle shrugs and says she has no idea 'cause she made the purchase on her own, then invites him to come see her pretty new horse - but he declines and says he's too busy preparing for his Paris summit with the Chinese delegation. Krystle pouts as she retorts, "This horse is my Paris", and Blake rolls his eyes and sarcastically tells her how utterly thrilled he is about her newfound hobby. Krystle reminds him he used to have the decency to show regret whenever he was too busy with work to spend time with her, then wonders aloud, "Whatever happened to that time?" before turning around and quietly exiting the study.
"I don't have time for your BS horse hobby."
"Whatever happened to that minute and a half when you acted far less dickish than usual?"
Jeff returns to Carrington manor and introduces Blake and Krystle to his new bride, Nicole. Blake and Krystle stare at the two in shocked bewilderment before congratulating them and extending an invitation to join them for dinner so they can tell them all about their ill-fated quickie wedding.
Alexis calls Lady Ashley Mitchell and gushes about the photos she took of the Queen Mother's birthday, then gets down to business and says she'd like progress reports on the negotiations regarding Blake's South China Sea oil lease proposal. When Lady Ashley asks why she should expend a single ounce of her energy doing that, Alexis reminds her that Maynard and Cecil were friends - plus she would owe her a favor if anything ever came up. Ashley mulls that over, mumbles something unintelligible, and - much to Alexis' annoyance - abruptly ends the call.
Jeff tells Blake that the main purpose of his Bolivia trip was to track down Fallon...and when Blake asks him how in blazes he ended up marrying a tacky gold digger like Nicole, Jeff just shrugs stupidly and mumbles, "I dunno." Blake says that he and his new bride are welcome to live at the mansion...and Jeff wanks him about what a generous man he is before giving him a thank you hug.
Dex arrives at the penthouse after being informed by Alexis' manservant that she has fallen ill with a debilitating migraine. When Alexis - who's lounging atop her bedroom chaise with a well coiffed 'do, full makeup, and decked out in a lacy black teddy - hears Dex come up the stairs, she shoos away her pet Shih Tzu, and pretends to be sickly and asleep. Dex tiptoes over to the chaise, hovers over her, and whispers, "Darling.." and she "wakes up" looking all pretend groggy and poutishly asks him if he's here to pick up his laundry. He tells her he's here to make sure she's OK, and that he's been miserable during their estrangement for the last episode and a half. He proclaims his love for her and insists that he really does want their marriage to work - but that at some point they (though mostly she) will have to make concessions for one another. Alexis makes an ew face at the prospect of any kind of personal sacrifice and says she's in no mood for a marriage counselling session, then pulls him towards her for a smooch. When he gently chides her for luring him to the penthouse on false pretenses, she giggles and points out that he did fall for it...and he laughingly replies, "Yep, you got me there!", then mounts her so that the two can smooch more intensely.
"Alexis darling? Are you dying?"
"It's a miracle! I suddenly feel well enough to knock boots with my sexy husband."
Over at Carrington Manor, Nicole wastes no time adapting to her new role as a wealthy man's haughty wife by admonishing Jeannette for addressing her as Miss Simpson instead of the preferred Your Royal Highness, Mrs. Jeff Colby. She then says she has a shit ton of laundry she would like done immediately - but Jeannette's like, "Sucks to be you" and tells her there's a maid shortage today. When Nicole bitchily asks what the hell she's supposed to lounge around the mansion in, Krystle suddenly appears in the doorway and politely asks Jeannette if she wouldn't mind laundering at least a few of Nicole's outfits so that her immediate "clothing problem" is solved...and Jeannette dutifully obeys before scurrying out of the room. Krystle informs Nicole that half of the servant workforce is currently out with the flu, and so the mansion dwellers have been doing their best to go easy on them. She then half-heartedly welcomes Nicole to the family and says that Jeff deserves to be happy, and Nicole agrees and insists that she really really wants to make him happy...then glares over at the Fallon portrait staring back at her.
Steven is doing a boxing workout in the mansion's gym when Adam wanders in to ask him where he spent the night, assumes the answer is 'in the sack with Luke', and snidely accuses, "You're having an affair with that little fag you work with." Steven's all, "Wha-a-a?!" as he and Adam quickly step aside so that their stunt doubles can punch each other while rolling around on the floor, damaging gym equipment - until Claudia rushes in and yells at them to stop. When she demands to know what's going on, Steven snaps, "I can't deal with you or your questions right now!" and Claudia snaps back, "You never could!" After Steven storms out, Adam tells Claudia he takes back what he told her about doing her best to make her marriage with Steven work, and urges her to unyoke herself from her unhappy life as Steven's wife-beard.
Steven heads straight over to Luke's apartment - but Luke looks less than thrilled to see him and says he has zero desire to help him sort out his 'I can't decide if I'm gay/not gay' impasse. Steven assures him he's finally re-resolved that conundrum and knows for sure where he wants to be. He then steps inside the apartment, and the two stand in the foyer for several long seconds, staring longingly at each other. Mmm hmm..
The head of the Chinese delegation, Mr. Wang, tells Blake and Adam he'll consider Denver Carrington's South China Sea deal proposal, but can't guarantee he'll get around to it any time soon. Blake politely says he'll patiently wait out the decision for as long as it takes...and everyone shakes hands and politely nods at each other. Lady Ashley Mitchell arrives at the hotel and stares into the meeting room, giving Blake an appreciative once-over. She then greets her old pal Mr. Wang, and escorts him out.
Dex drives over to Delta Rho to ask Rock Hudson what he told Alexis about their military missions, and Rock shrugs and says he didn't tell her anything. Dex accuses him of abandoning him in a war zone and snappishly adds, "We're out of business!" - but Rock reminds him he's never been able to turn down a challenge. Dex snarks back that he's turning it down now, then storms back to his car.
Amanda returns to the penthouse after a night out, drunk and stumbling around the foyer in a poofy black and silver gown. When she falls to the floor and starts giggling uncontrollably, Dex is conveniently on hand to help her to her feet...then scoops her into his arms when she proves too drunk to stand upright. She gazes lustfully at Dex, purrs about how appealing he is, and eggs him on to kiss her - just as Alexis appears in the stairway, looking less than pleased about her husband being so tenderly helpful to her beautiful young English rose of a daughter.
"Oh hi, mummy. We're just bonding as step-father and daughter."
"Put that down and come back to bed at once."
- Give her newlywed mother and stepfather/one time lover the privacy they need so they can doink in common living areas of the penthouse
- Stop trying to live out her schoolgirl fantasies starring Dex
- Spend more quality time with Blake so she can eventually figure out what a douchebag of a father he can be
Nicole throws a party at Carrington manor with a group of rowdies...and two stressed out manservants struggle to maintain order and keep enough champagne flowing. One of the partygoers, Bill, remarks to Nicole how unsettling it must be for her to have Fallon's portrait staring down at her all the time...so he drags a chair over and climbs atop it to remove the offending portrait - just as Krystle enters the room and tells him to get down. She snaps, "Party's over!" ... and everyone quietly files out and mutters to one another about what a big downer this party suddenly turned into. Krystle makes it clear to Nicole that Fallon will always be part of this house and that she's going to have to find a way to respect that...and Nicole nods in sheepish agreement. Once Krystle's out of earshot, she stares up at Fallon's portrait and bitterly concedes, "You win again."
Blake gets irked when Adam admits to meeting with the Chinese delegation on his own...which, for some reason, offended Mr. Wang so severely that he abandoned the negotiations and departed Paris. Seems like a weird overreaction, but OK. Adam offers to approach Lady Ashley Mitchell to see if she can coax the Chinese back for another meeting, but Blake snappishly says he'll handle things from now on.
Jeff finishes up a call with Blake about the negotiations debacle when Krystle enters the room and looks irked that Blake didn't ask Jeff to hand the phone over to hear. Jeff shrugs and points out that it was strictly a business call...and after a miffed Krystle stalks out, he places a call to Lady Ashley Mitchell to set up a one-on-one with Blake.
Blake implores Lady Ashley to do whatever she can to bring the Chinese delegation back to the negotiating table...and she chuckles about the high level of confidence he has in the level of influence she has with Mr. Wang. She then gets a dreamy look on her face and recalls seeing him (Blake) for the first time at some rich person event in Vienna six years ago. She explains that at the time she was on assignment as a photographer, and thought to herself that of all the old billionaires in the room, he was by far the most passably attractive silver fox...and Blake blushingly chortles at the compliment and says he's very flattered. She then gets down to business and asks him if he thinks Alexis would approve of a successful negotiation with the Chinese, and Blake says he's pretty sure she would not. She perks up at that and says she has no intention of being a part of Alexis' manipulation and will therefore do whatever it takes to convince Mr. Wang to return with his delegation to Paris.
"When I first saw you, six years ago, I thought you were the belle of the ball."
"Had you considered getting your eyesight checked?"
Back in Paris, Blake and Lady Ashley are standing in front of the fireplace in her swanky apartment, chatting about all the American food she's missed out on while living in France. Blake promises to host a barbecue for her next time she's in Denver so he can serve her the world's tastiest burger, and she happily chirps, "It's a date!" He thanks her for her help in getting the Chinese back to the negotiating table, and she responds by leaning in and giving him a smooch...then explains that she couldn't help herself from giving in to her impulse. Blake grins goofily and says goodbye...and once he's out of earshot, she nonsensically murmurs, "Good..? I'm not so sure about that."

Say hello to your newly wedded wife
Original airdate: 1/16/1985
Episode summary: Krystle and Blake bicker over her dream of raising Arabian horses (with the help of Rock Hudson). Dex is miffed about Alexis' decision to travel to Sumatra to bid Blake's dying father adieu. Jeff and Nicole travel to Bolivia to search for the gold statue.
A few hundred feet away, an unidentified man is crouched in the bushes, snapping in-no-way compromising photographs of Krystle and Rock Hudson as he teaches her the finer points of halter removal. An oblivious Krystle tells Rock she very much enjoyed Lesson #1, but now needs to return to Carrington manor.
As Krystle drives home, the unidentified man who had been photographing her and Rock appears from out of nowhere in an SUV and starts tailgating her and trying to drive her off the road. Krystle's all, "Wha-at's going onnnnn?", then pulls over and takes note of the SUV's license plate number.
Jeff and Nicole are sitting in an outdoor cafe somewhere in Bolivia...and by somewhere in Bolivia, I mean a studio backlot in West Hollywood with a lot of extras milling about in straw hats and colorful peasant-wear. Nicole grumbles that their search for the gold statue has been a colossal waste of time and money - but Jeff disagrees, 'cause word on the street is that a young American woman (who just happens to strongly resemble Fallon) is also scouring Bolivia for the statue. Nicole shoots him the stink-eye before getting up and storming off...and lurking nearby is a young woman with brown hair and very large sunglasses who keeps glancing over at Jeff all furtive and mysterious-like. Pamela Sue..? Is that you?
Krystle returns home and tells Blake about the SUV driver who nearly drove her off the road, and gives him the license plate number so he can look into it. She gushes about how excited she is to go into business with Rock Hudson breeding, raising, and training Arabians...and an irked looking Blake grunts something unintelligible while she dashes upstairs to shower and change.
Alexis returns to her penthouse from last episode's Sumatra travels and is greeted by Amanda, who extends her condolences about her grandfather. Alexis says that since she's continuing to peddle the fiction about her bio dad being a ski instructor, Tom Carringon couldn't possibly have been her grandfather...and Amanda chides her for continuing to perpetuate that nonsense - just as a disgruntled looking Dex enters the room. Alexis asks if he's still mad at her for jetting off to Sumatra without much notice...and he's like, "Well duh" and says he's especially sour about the fact that she went there with Blake. Alexis refrains from pointing out that since Blake hates her with the intensity of a thousand suns, it's unlikely that anything sexual could possibly happen between them, then haughtily reminds him that she's an independent, proudly bitchy woman who does as she pleases. Dex says she can't expect to do that if she wants to stay married to him, then storms off...and Amanda's like, "Awkward" and tells Alexis she recently came across a newspaper article about Dex and Rock Hudson rescuing MIA soldiers in Cambodia. Alexis mulls over that fascinating nugget while muttering, "How heroic", then lights a cigarette and stares contemplatively into space.
"How could I possibly be cheating on you with a man who can't stand the sight of me?"
"Don't you dare bring logic or reason into our nonsensical, toxic relationship."
Blake has summoned Dominique to his Denver Carrington office to apologize for not previously acknowledging her as a Carrington - but then says it's largely her fault for not coming directly to him when she first arrived in Denver. Dominique concedes that, yep, at the time of her arrival, she wasn't sure if she wanted revenge more than she craved being an accepted member of the Carrington clan...and Blake clucks knowingly and said he sensed that she was playing games, and therefore treated her with the level of contempt he reserves for devious women. Speaking of devious women, Blake assures Dominique that Alexis won't stand a chance against them if she contests Tom's will...and Dominique says she's happy to hear that, and is sooooo delighted to finally have had a father in her life - even if this father-daughter relationship only lasted for the last thirty-five seconds of Tom's life.
Alexis calls Dex on his large '80s cell phone while he's in the middle of a business lunch. She purrs about how much she misses him and urges him to come home, then asks whassup with him and Rock Hudson rescuing soldiers in Cambodia. He snaps, "The subject is closed", then abruptly hangs up. Alexis calls her friend George from the State Department and orders him to dig up everything he possibly can about Rock Hudson, in particular his Cambodian exploits.
Krystle tells Rock Hudson she's not sure how to go about raising the money she's going to need for her Arabians project, so he urges her to think her way through the problem solving process. She scrunches her face thoughtfully for a few seconds, then says she could kick-start this venture by putting Allegre out to stud, and reach out to prospective partners to form a syndicate of rich horse lovers who'd be willing to fork over some investment cash to cover stud fees. Rock Hudson nods approvingly and gives her the phone number of someone from Kentucky who can help her out with that. She thanks him and scampers off, leaving him staring after her longingly.
Luke drops by Steven's office to invite him to a football game, but Steven declines 'cause Claudia is due back from D.C. tonight...then gets all prickly when he feels like Luke isn't acting understanding enough about how desperately he wants to patch things up with his unfaithful wife-beard.
Back in Bolivia, Nicole is getting fed up with the fruitless statue search and tells Jeff to burn the treasure map. [Fuuuuuck yes, and amen to that.] He dutifully lights a match - but then stares at the map closely and notices that it references the Church of the Nativity. He furrows his furry brows perplexedly and wonders aloud if it's a clue. I can only assume so, Jeff.
When Blake returns home, he's informed by Gerard that Rock Hudson is waiting for him in the study. When Blake's all, "Wha-a-a?" and goes to investigate, Rock tells him that someone from his Denver Carrington office summoned him to the mansion for a meeting. Blake shakes his head and insists that his staff doesn't make that kind of mistake...and after some boring banter [which I missed 'cause my brain tuned it out, and I couldn't bring myself to hit rewind], Blake warns Rock to quit making a play for Krystle and then snarks that she doesn't need a hobby. Rock says, "I couldn't agree more" and saunters out of the room.
The next day, while looking over horse photos, Rock Hudson tattles to Krystle about what Blake said about her not needing a hobby...and Krystle scrunches her face in annoyance and complains that Blake doesn't take her passion for horses seriously, and that she's irked he would articulate this to Rock. She says she needs to take care of this asap, and rushes out.
Krystle storms over to Denver Carrington to give Blake the what for about his condescending attitude regarding her recent horse fetish. She assures him she has no intention of neglecting Kristina - and, in fact, wants to be the kind of mother who would make her proud. She natters about how she's been way too passive over the last four and a half seasons, aka content to live through everyone else's eyes while everyone else "does". When Blake suggests she fill her leisure time with charity work, she tells him that despite being his trophy wife for the last five years, she's not comfortable hanging around rich people...and that she really really wants to raise Arabians. She declares, "I'm going to go for it, damn it!" and storms out - just as Blake receives a call from his contact at the DMV, who reports that the license plate of the man who nearly drove Krystle off the road is not registered to anyone.
"You need to start taking my horse fetish a lot more seriously!"
"I will regard it as somewhat adorable until further notice."
Claudia and Adam are having dinner at the La Mirage when Steven enters the dining room, sees them enjoying each other's company, and contorts his face into its usual pissy expression. When Claudia spots him, she rushes over to say hey...but he just pouts about how she didn't call him to tell him she was back in town. She explains that she and Adam just got back an hour ago and were really hungry...then points out that the two of them are separated. Steven irritably says he'll call her tomorrow and that they should both keep their fingers crossed he'll be in a better mood. I wouldn't count on that.
Alexis puts on another of her tacky '80s gowns to go out on the town...and when she invites Amanda to come along, Amanda makes a face and says she's not in the mood. Alexis lets that slide and declares that they're both going to the ballet tomorrow night - but Amanda says she has to decline that too 'cause Blake is hosting a family dinner to formally welcome Dominique into the family. Alexis tells her how giant a dickwad Blake can be, and that he's turned his back on his other children at various points: Steven for being gay, Adam when he first arrived in Denver. Amanda gets disproportionately upset over that comment and cries that Alexis only ever cares about getting her own way...then races out of the room and briefly exits the scene while her stunt double takes a tumble down the stairs. Dex, who just happens to be standing at the foot of the stairs, gently helps Amanda back to her feet and asks her several times if she's OK...and a suspicious looking Alexis takes in the unmistakable look of tenderness on Dex's face and snappishly assures him that Amanda's fine. Not least 'cause her stairs are carpeted, and there aren't very many of them.
Nicole and Jeff check out the Church of the Nativity and are about to throw in the towel on their tiresome quest when Nicole spots a grave with the name Luz Maria Montana and cries, "Montaña is Spanish for mountain!" She moves on down the row of grave stones and finds one with the name Carlos del Rio, and cries, "River!" Jeff gets in on that action and finds an urn atop a nearby grave and suggests they come back after dark so they can explore it more secretively.
That evening, Jeff opens the urn, reaches inside, and finds the gold statue wrapped up in a cloth. He hands the prize to Nicole, who shakes it and giddily says that jewels are rumored to be inside of it. The mysterious brunette suddenly appears, points a gun at the two, and says, "I'll take that." Jeff orders Nicole to hand her the statue...and as she does, he wrestles the mysterious brunette to the ground and confirms that she's not Fallon. He demands to know who she is...and when she doesn't immediately reply, he growls, "Damn it, answer me!"
"Cha ching!"
"Soak it up, toots."
Alexis drops by Blake's office to talk about Tom's will - and Blake warns her that if she contests it, she'll be going up against a family who won't yield to her usual tactics. He makes it clear he's giving Dominique his full support, and Alexis snorts derisively and says she'll figure out a different, more effective way of "breaking that saloon singer into little pieces".
That evening, Blake hosts a 'Welcome to the family' dinner for Dominique and, at long last, acknowledges her as his half sister. As the rest of the Carringtons mumble, "Welcome..", she looks touched and thanks them...and that she's dreamed of this night since she was a child.
Alexis returns to the penthouse decked out in a ridiculous furry gown and hat/veil combo and peppers Amanda with questions about Dominique's dinner. Amanda tells her about the fancy food that was on the menu, and Alexis rolls her eyes in disgust and says it all sounds like peasant food. When Amanda gushes about what a beautiful and elegant lady Dominique is, Alexis disdainfully asks, "Do you really think that that thieving parvenu is, in any way, related to you?" ... and Amanda says she does, actually, and that they're getting together for lunch next week. Once Amanda is out of earshot, Alexis makes a beeline over to the nearest phone, calls up one of her investigator flunkies, and asks him to dig up every piece of financial intel he can find on Dominique Deveraux.
"They served foie gras, white truffle, caviar, and wagyu beef."
"Sounds like a shit-stew of tacky peasant food."

Tom Carrington
Season 5, Episode 14
Original airdate: 1/9/1985
Episode summary: Blake, Dominique, and Alexis travel to Sumatra to witness the passing of Tom Carrington.
The next morning, Blake arrives at Denver Carrington and tells his secretary to cancel all his meetings 'cause he's off to Sumatra to sit at his dying father's bedside.. then is all, "Ack!" when he finds Alexis waiting for him in his office. She haughtily tells him she heard, third hand, that Papa (Tom) Carrington is dying and that she intends to see him before he expires. She reminds Blake that Tom always liked her and that he had love for their children, but Blake disagrees and snaps, "He's not capable of love." Alexis refutes that by reminding Blake how kind Tom was to her after Adam was kidnapped, and that his frequent phone calls helped keep her sane during that difficult time. She wants to return this kindness by being there for him now, but Blake snaps back that he doesn't want her there...and Alexis counter-snaps that she's coming along anyway, and if he doesn't like it he can suck on it.
Claudia swings by the mansion to take Danny to his doctor's appointment, but Steven nixes that arrangement and tells her that the tot is all set to go with his nanny, Rita. Claudia says they should probably discuss his near raping of her last night, but Steven weakly explains that his "clumsiness" was a weak, failed attempt to get her back, and that there's nothing left to say. As he shuffles off dejectedly, Adam enters the room and tells Claudia he's off to Washington D.C. to convince the State Department to pressure the Chinese to reopen negotiations with Blake. [LOL, there's far too much to unpack with the implausibility of that unsavory sounding objective.] Claudia says she too is off to D.C. to meet with State Department officials to discuss using La Mirage for a conference. Adam says he'd loooove her company on the flight, and she grins back at him in agreement.
Krystle offers to accompany Blake to Sumatra, but he tells her she should probably hang around Denver 'cause Kristina is due to be released from the hospital soon. Blake gripes about how Tom is his "mortal enemy" and that he was a giant shitbag to his mother on account of all the drinking and brazen sleeping around with other women he frequently indulged in. Krystle shrugs and says that some marriages aren't meant to be, and that people can change and grow apart. Blake assures her that his feelings for her won't ever change, and that he's optimistic that they'll be able to work out their problems. Krystle concurs and says they're going to need to have a loooong talk when he gets back from Sumatra.
"My father was a miserable douchebag of a husband."
"Looks like the apple didn't fall far from the tree."
Luke drops by Steven's office to ask him how he's feeling after making a drunken fool of himself the night before...and Steven chuckles at his arsery, shakes Luke's hand, and thanks him for helping him sober up with all that coffee. Luke asks Steven if he's been acting all distant towards him 'cause he correctly guessed that he's gay and assumed he was coming onto him...and Steven looks fake surprised as he exclaims, "Wuh? You're gay?" and somehow manages to deliver the line straight-faced. Luke says indeed he is gay - as anyone with even the lowest levels of gaydar could easily detect - but that he's also quite capable of forging platonic friendships with men. In that vein, he invites Steven to a friendly dinner tonight, and Steven's like, "Why not?" and says he could really use someone to talk to about his wife-beard problems.
Blake arrives at his father's large house in Sumatra and rushes over to his sickbed. Tom, an angry bearded ogre of a man, glares at Blake and snaps, "What the hell are you doing here?" Blake says he's here mostly to get an apology for all the nastiness he's wrought on Family Carrington over the years. Tom applauds him for always being an honest guy - unlike his shifty brother Ben, who Blake says he hasn't heard from in a very long time. Blake says he also came all this way to introduce him to someone - and a few seconds later, Dominique sweeps into the room. She identifies herself to Tom as Laura's daughter...and when Tom just glares back at her in shocked incredulity, she smugly clarifies, "I'm your daughter."
At the La Mirage, Nicole tells Jeff she's having second thoughts about embarking on a Raiders of the Lost Ark type adventure to unearth a Bolivian statue. She reasons that there's no place for her on this mission, not least 'cause Jeff only seems to care about finding Fallon. Jeff admits that while he was in love with Fallon, he feels the need to channel Indiana Jones so that he can finally close that chapter in his life in as nonsensical a manner as possible. Nicole poutishly tells him he'll have to close this chapter without her...and Jeff stares at her mutely for a few seconds before exiting the room.
Blake and Dominique take a break from standing around Tom's sickbed to sip tropical drinks delivered by a tiny servant boy. Blake reminisces about the only loving memory he has of his father from his childhood: when the two got stuck at the top of a Ferris wheel during a storm, Tom comforted him by holding his hand (sadly, it was the only time he'd ever held his son's hand). Alexis suddenly sweeps into the room and smugly tells Blake she defied his order not to come 'cause nothing was going to stop her from saying goodbye to Tom. The nurse pops into the room to inform Dominique that she can spend a few minutes with Tom now, which prompts Alexis to glare at Dominique and ask Blake what right she has to be here. Blake mumbles that it's none of her damn business.
Dominique demands that Tom acknowledge her as his bio daughter, but he refuses and snarks, "You're not!" Dominique says her mother told her all about getting knocked up by one Tom Carrington, then asks him if he really truly wants to die being hated by his own daughter. Tom snarls at her to leave him alone, and that he hardly remembers his former mistress, to which Dominique barks, "Liar!" and insists that he and Laura bore her out of love...and that, by golly, she now wants her rightful last name. She yells at Blake to come into the room, then orders Tom to acknowledge her as his bio daughter - but Tom again refuses and shrieks, "Get her out of here!!"
"I desperately need someone to acknowledge me as a Carrington."
"You are aware of what a truly shitty bunch we are, aren't you?"
Claudia cuddles Danny after his doctor's appointment, then has coffee with Krystle. She laments her tedious marital problems, then confides in Krystle that she was unfaithful to Steven 'cause of how needy she is, and faintly hopes they can somehow work through their trust issues.
Alexis enters Tom's room to pay him a last visit. He appears thrilled to see her, and the two reminisce about how they danced the tango at her/Blake's wedding. After a blechy coughing fit, Tom asks her how Fallon is doing...and Alexis avoids telling him that she's been presumed dead, and instead opens her wallet to pull out a pouty looking photo of Pamela Sue Martin. Tom grins approvingly, then coos flatteringly about Alexis' beauty and spunk and assures her that she's included in his will...and asks her to please use some of the money to buy something special for Fallon.
Dex returns to the penthouse and finds Amanda asleep on the couch. He smiles at the sight of her, then gently pokes her awake and tells her she should go to bed. She smiles up at him and shoots him an unmistakable come hither look...but when he flinchingly backs away, she snarks at him to get lost 'cause she doesn't need his concern. When he quickly darts off, she stares after him in poutish longing.
Claudia drops by Adam's D.C. hotel room so they can carpool to the State Department. He suggests they get together for dinner that evening, and she happily accepts.
The Carrington servants titter excitedly at the imminent arrival of baby Kristina. As Gerard opens the door, Krystle sweeps in with her baby in her arms...and the two bowl shaped 'do lads - Little Blake and Danny - scamper over to peer at their tiny aunt. As Krystle stares proudly at her spawn, who she's wrapped in a very poofy satin blanket, the two lads assure Krystle that she's a very beautiful baby.
"Is Kristina going to have a bowl shaped 'do like us once she grows hair?"
"No. Hopefully she'll take after her mother and be more of a side hair wings type of gal."
Jeff drops by Nicole's La Mirage room to apologize for being so Fallon-focused earlier. He tells her he's ready to move forward with her towards a new, happier life, and that he's really into the idea of going on a fool's errand to track down an elusive gold statue. Nicole pulls out the treasure map, hands it to him, and smooches him...and Jeff gets all into it as he flashes back to smooching with Fallon.
A tipsy Claudia follows Adam back to his hotel room. He puts on some music and asks her to dance...and after the two sway together and get into some smooching action, she backs away and says she should probably stumble back to her own room now.
Back in Sumatra, Blake, Dominique, and Alexis are standing around Tom's bedside, waiting for him to finally go gentle into that good night. Tom tells Alexis that she's a pistol and implores her to never change, apologizes to Blake for being such a disaster of a father/husband, then urges him to look after his sister. Dominique perks up at that as Tom adds, "She's family. Be good to her." Dominique rushes over to sit beside him and take his hand into hers...and he stares at her tearfully and tells her she's just as beautiful as Laura. He then invokes the Ferris wheel memory from Blake's childhood and admits that he's frightened of facing death...and a few seconds later he quietly drifts off as everyone stares sadly into space.
"I've decided to leave an insane amount of my fortune to my illegitimate love spawn."
"The fuck he just say?"

Of all the bars in all the towns in all the world..
Original airdate: 1/2/1985
Episode summary: Rock Hudson awakens a desire in Krystle to raise Arabian horses. Alexis attempts to buy Dominique's Denver Carrington shares. Claudia moves out of the mansion.
Over at Carrington manor, Claudia is packing her belongings into several large suitcases when Adam drops by her room and is all, "Wha-at's happening?" She tells him she's moving to the La Mirage, largely 'cause of how dickish Steven is being about him being cuckolded and her not being Danny's bio mom. When Adam points out that Carrington men can be ginormous dickwads and implores her to rethink her decision, she thanks him for being a friend to her, but insists on finishing her packing and moving out of the mansion asap.
Billy Dee Williams bursts into Dominique's La Mirage suite with an armful of gifts. Dominique smilingly says she's very happy he popped in on her...then admits to being extremely bummed out by Blake's refusal to acknowledge her as kin, despite everything she's done for him. When he ask her why she gives a rat's ass about possibly being related to the old goat, she haughtily pronounces, "I am a Carrington by birth!", then clutches her husband in a desperate looking hug.
Alexis snarls at Dex for suggesting they urge Amanda to go live at Carrington manor for the foreseeable future, so he explains that he'd like some time alone with his blushing bride...and would prefer that the nubile young woman he hit the sheets with a day before their wedding not be in such close proximity to them all the damn time. Amanda chooses that moment to bound into the room unannounced, and Dex shoots Alexis a see? look and irritably says he was just on his way out. Alexis tells Amanda she's soooo happy that the two of them (plus Dex) will be living under the same roof together and hopes that they'll become more than just mother-daughter, meaning friends. Amanda says she's willing to give that a go, but warns that she fully intends to split her time between her and her new bio dad. Alexis rolls her eyes derisively and snarks that Blake isn't even her father - but Amanda says she's no longer buying the nonsense about her getting knocked up by some random ski instructor and firmly says she'll see who she wants, when she wants. Alexis snappishly retorts, "You're a little brat and I'm not going to allow it!" and Amanda snaps back, "Try and stop me!" and flounces out of the room. Alexis glares contemplatively into space for a few seconds before sashaying over to the end table to pick up the phone and place a call to Dominique.
"I'll see who I want, when I want, where I want, and...in the case of my new stepfather, under whose sheets I want!"
"You must have inherited your brattiness from your nameless, faceless ski instructor father."
Billy Dee Williams drops by Blake's office to ask Blake why he refuses to acknowledge Dominique as his half-sister, then points out that he had no problem accepting Amanda as his daughter without much in the way of scientific proof. Blake explains that he was willing to do that 'cause Amanda never demanded anything of him...then says that the most he's willing to do for Dominique is give her a good return on her investment.
Alexis and Dominique are enjoying an extravagant looking lunch at ColbyCo. When Dominique asks her whassup with this unexpected lunch invitation, Alexis says she'd like to make her an offer she can't refuse, then offers to buy all of her Denver Carrington shares for a handsome price. When Dominique asks her why she's interested in doing that, Alexis chides her for questioning her motives...and Dominique counters that she hasn't come this far in life by not questioning everyone's motives at all times. She then tells Alexis she seems waaaay too anxious to buy her shares and isn't inclined to sell them to her on account of she doesn't seem to be any less of a soulless douchewad than Blake.
When Dex runs into Amanda at the penthouse, she poutishly asks him why he's suddenly OK with her living there...and he stares at her hungrily as he woodenly replies, "I had no choice." Not sure what to make of that retort, Amanda just stares mutely at him in her usual pouty fashion.
Rock Hudson pours himself and Krystle (who he's now calling Kristie) a glass of champagne to celebrate the birth of the new foal. He gushes about her "gift" for soothing in-labor mares...then says that since they've just experienced something very special, he'd like an explanation as to why she hates him so much. When she tells him it's 'cause of the way he walked out on her sister Iris, Rock explains that he was never in love with Iris 'cause he had eyes for someone else (hint: her name rhymes with Shmystle) ... and that he gently broke it to Iris in a respectful heart-to-heart, after which they never spoke again. He stares quizzically at Krystle and asks her what she thinks he did that was so terrible, but she just breezily says she's satisfied enough with his version of events and no longer hates him.
"Iris accepted my dumping of her, and then we never ever spoke again."
"In that case, all of the seething hatred I've been directing at you for the past two decades has magically disappeared."
Krystle and Rock Hudson stroll through the Delta Rho stables to look over the pretty horses. He asks her if she's ever considered making a career out of working with horses, and she tells him that being Blake's trophy wife and a new mother leaves her with little spare time. Rock shakes his head disapprovingly and asks her if she really wants to spend her life being a pampered lady of leisure, then tells her she can be anything she wants. Krystle stares pensively into space, mulling over the limitless opportunities her life could be.
Krystle returns home looking rejuvenated from her day at Delta Rho. Blake grumpishly asks her where she's been for the last several hours, so she tells him she's no longer mad at Rock Hudson...and that they delivered a foal together. She excitedly tells him she's thinking seriously of working with Arabians, and Blake scrunches his face confusedly and goes, "Why? They're just show horses." Krystle snaps back, "Like me?", and Blake's like, "Well d'yuh" and curses Rock Hudson for putting such lofty ideas in her head. He condescendingly tells her she has no idea about all the work that is involved with the raising of horses...and she insists she does, then sourly says she has so much she'd like to tell him about her sudden horse fetish, but doesn't feel like she can talk to him about anything.
"I want to devote my life to Arabians, a passion I've had since earlier today."
"I thought we both agreed that you didn't need to have any interests, hobbies, or thoughts of your own."
Alexis summons Billy Dee Williams to her penthouse and tries to persuade him to convince his wife to sell her her shares of Denver Carrington. Billy Dee Williams asks her if this transaction is mostly about her intense hatred of Blake...and she confirms it is, and poutishly adds that Blake has robbed her of so much. Billy Dee Williams makes it clear that his wife is in charge of her own business affairs, and therefore he won't be bringing up the matter to her...and Alexis glares unhappily into space.
Adam tells Steven that Claudia became so disgruntled by their marital woes that she packed up her stuff and moved to the La Mirage. When he remarks on how said it is for Danny to lose a second mother, Steven's all, "Wha-a-a-a??" and rushes out of the room to verify his wife's sudden departure from Carrington manor.
Steven storms over to La Mirage and orders Claudia to pack up her clothes and return with him to the mansion. When she refuses, he grabs her and snarls, "I'm tired of being pushed away. It's time you started acting like my wife!" to which Claudia growls, "Don't you come near me" and tells him to prove his ambiguous manhood with someone else. Steven suddenly looks discombobulated at the realization that he was about to sexually assault his wife-beard, then stumbles toward the door.
"How about a little marital rape, Carrington style?"
"It would be just as vomit-inducing as when Blake did it to Krystle in Season 1."
Steven heads to the nearest bar to drown his sorrows. Luke Fuller, who just happens to be in the bar at that very moment, makes a beeline over and seats himself next to him. Steven tells him he's having marital problems...and when he drunkenly orders the bartender to pour him another one, Luke offers to take him to his place and get him sobered up (sans hanky panky) before depositing him at Carrington manor.
Dr. Harris tells Krystle that Kristina should be able to come home soon...then shifts the conversation to her private marital issues (!) and says it's obvious that she and Blake are going through a rough patch - and that that's something no baby can solve. He urges Krystle to get more out of life than just staring at her sickly preemie through a glass window - interesting advice from a NICU doctor, LOL - and find something that feeds her soul. Like raising horses, for example.
Everyone gathers at the La Mirage for a swanky shindig honoring Rock Hudson's sizable donation to the hospital. Blake ambles over to Rock and asks him whassup with squandering an opportunity to make money off of the sale of Allegre, then demands to know what he's up to - but when Krystle suddenly walks over, Blake mutters, "Now's not the best time for this conversation" and lumbers off. Rock makes a beeline over to Dex and tells him they have to talk, but Dex is like, "No can do" and hastily crosses the room. A confused Alexis asks Rock to explain what that brief interaction was all about, but Rock says, "I don't think I could" and spacily wanders off. That was an oddly pointless series of interactions.
Jeff and Nicole sneak into Claudia's office to crack open the safe, which Nicole believes contains Peter's half of the treasure map. She squeals happily when they find the map in an envelop that has the name Peter scrawled on it...in Fallon's handwriting, uninterestingly enough. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's 'Next stop: Bolivia' for these two dullards.
As Blake drones on to the other partygoers about something or other, Krystle gets bored and glances across the room at Rock Hudson, who smiles at her and walks over to invite her to dance. A few seconds later, Alexis remarks to Blake how attractive Rock is and then asks him if he'd like to dance...and Blake says he could probably stand about a minute and a half of dancing with her before hastily passing her off to Dex.
Later, Krystle finds Blake drinking at the bar with a sour expression on his wrinkly mug. She asks him whassup with him acting like a jealous husband, and he snidely asks her if he has any reason to be, then demands to know why she spent so many hours at Delta Rho the other day. She tells him again that she and Rock Hudson delivered a foal together, and that the miracle of life provoked thoughts of her lifelong [yet never before expressed] dream of raising Arabians. Blake dismissively calls her naive before being summoned to Claudia's office for a private one-on-one with Dominique.
Dominique informs Blake that she's suing him for misappropriation of funds after learning that he used part of her investment money to pay his mortgage. Oops. Claudia pokes her head into the room to inform Blake that he has an emergency phone call from Gerard, who breaks the news to Blake that his father has just suffered a near fatal heart attack. Dominique refers to Old Man Carrington as "our father" and insists on flying to Sumatra with Blake.
Krystle tells Rock Hudson she's pretty pumped about pursuing her "lifelong" dream of raising and training Arabian horses. He says he can help her, one step at a time...and she perks up at that and says, "Then teach me."
Riveting.
