Recap: An ambulance is transporting Dominique to the hospital, with Blake et. al. following closely behind. When it arrives at the ER, Blake barks at the doctors to do everything they can to save his sister...and they're like, "D'yuh. We do that as a matter of course for all incoming ER patients." In the next scene, the doctor informs Blake (and the rest of the Carringtons) that Dominique is in stable condition, and that they suspect she has a heart valve problem. She urges them all to go home until they have something new to report, to which Nicole chirps, "Gladly! I hate hospitals!" LOL. Blake shoots her an irritated stink-eye and says he's not going anywhere, but orders everyone else to go home and get some rest. He then tells the doctor he has no faith in the flunkies employed at this hospital and would like to fly in Dr. Chase, aka the country's top cardiologist so that his sister can get the best care money can buy. Nicole whines to Jeff about how much she hates the smell of hospitals...then suggests that, as newlyweds, they should head back to the La Mirage and hit the dance floor. Jeff gives her a funny look and says that after witnessing Dominique's collapse, he's not in the mood to go dancing...and she rolls her eyes, bitches about how booooooring it is to wander the halls of Carrington manor every evening, and snaps, "I'm supposed to give up my entire life because someone I don't even know is sick?!" Jeff says he considers Dominique a family member, snaps, "Remember that!" and storms off, leaving Nicole staring after him unhappily. Claudia calls Krystle to let her know about Dominique's collapse, then tells Adam that Krystle is on her way to the hospital. Adam winces and says that that's guaranteed to make Blake even more cranky than usual and reminds her that he had ordered everyone (but himself) to go home. Claudia says that Blake has every right to boss everyone around as "the head of the family", but Adam snorts derisively and says that Blake thinks of his family members as subjects who should never disobey him...and that one day soon she too will find herself in his cross-hairs and be on the receiving end of his pissy wrath. Blake is pacing the length of Dominique's hospital room when Krystle tiptoes in and asks how she's doing. Blake says she's stable and that the doctors are looking into whether the reason for her collapse is her heart valve, then tells her to go home 'cause there's nothing she can do here. Krystle points out that there's nothing he can do here either, and that she'd like to stay so that she can be here for him and Dominique. Blake gives her a weak smile and says he's temporarily suspending his annoyance with her for kissing Rock Hudson in order to soak up her compassion. Over at the penthouse, Alexis calls Dex's father to see if he has any clue where Dex might have disappeared to, but he tells her he has absolutely no idea. Alexis asks Amanda if Dex might have revealed what he was up to when they hung out in Acapulco, and Amanda says he didn't...but that she had things other than Dex on her mind during that vacay. Alexis grabs a box of chocolates and starts chowing down as she asks Amanda if she's done anything about that situation...and by that situation she means her now dormant relationship with Prince Michael. Amanda says there was no relationship and that he's engaged to a duchess - but Alexis waves her hand dismissively and says, "Engagements are made to be broken." Amanda implores her to focus on her own life and bitchily points out that, for starters, she might want to figure out where her husband fled to...then flounces upstairs, leaving Alexis shooting her the stink-eye. In Paraguay, an infected-with-malaria Dex looks weak and sweaty as he pores over a map and points out the escape route for the detainee they sneaked into the country to rescue. The detainee says he feels bad using Rock Hudson's passport and leaving him behind to "clean up", but Dex insists that that was the plan. Over at the hospital, Dominique regains consciousness and has another coughing fit...and Blake and Krystle hover over her and coo that everything is going to be fine. The doctor informs Dominique that she's suffering from mitral stenosis, aka heart valve damage, and that surgery is required to fix the problem. Dominique looks stricken and moans about how she wants to die with dignity and has no regrets about her life should it suddenly end in this hospital bed - and the doctor gives her a funny look and says that since she's otherwise in good health, she'll likely be A-OK after the surgery. Alexis reads about Dominique's collapse in the morning paper and instructs her Asian manservant Lin to order an extravagant bouquet of flowers and have it delivered to Dominique's hospital room. She then gets a call from Bolivia and looks intrigued about the info her contact there was able to dig up about Jeff's and Nicole's wedding. Steven, Adam, and Jeff are at Denver Carrington, discussing their new partnership regarding the South China Sea oil leases. Steven says that ColbyCo really really wants to hire Dex's drilling company to extract the oil - and Adam snarks that Dex International is going to have to submit a formal bid, just like every other prospective drilling company. When Steven nonsensically accuses Adam of being disloyal to their mother (vis-à-vis not wanting to grease the hand of her husband), Jeff settles the dumb argument by firmly stating that if Dex International meets the bid, they'll do business with them. The meeting breaks up just as Lady Ashley in her stupid little ponytail 'do arrives to photograph Blake some more. Jeff explains that Blake is at the hospital, hovering over Dominique after she collapsed during the previous episode. He then gazes at Ashley all smitten-like and says he'd love to have dinner with her some time...and she flirty agrees - just as Jeff gets a call from Alexis, summoning him to ColbyCo. Krystle asks Dominique if she wants her to call Billy Dee Williams and let him know she's being hospitalized - but Dominique adamantly refuses and says she doesn't want her soon-to-be ex-husband's pity. Alexis informs Jeff that his marriage to Nicole isn't legal...and that since he showed up drunk to the ceremony, it was easy for Nicole to pay off an innkeeper and his wife to proclaim them husband and wife before shoving a phony marriage certificate at him and hoping to hell he'd buy the lie and never think to look into the legality of the paperwork. Jeff stares sheepishly into space for a few seconds before lamely saying, "Maybe I wanted to buy it" and explains that when he and Nicole were in Bolivia, he was drunk, tired, and didn't want to be alone anymore. Alexis shoots him a WTF? look and says that clearly Nicole took advantage of his grief over Fallon by conning him into installing her in Carrington manor as his new wife. She asks him what he's going to do about it now that he knows the truth, and he mulls that over and mumbles, "I'll do what I have to do." When Jeff confronts Nicole about conning him into a faux marriage, she looks suitably contrite and says she only did it 'cause she loves him, and figured the only way he'd ever leap into a marriage was if he was equal parts blitzed out of his mind and gullible about the fake paperwork. Jeff tells her it's prolly not a good idea to build a relationship on lies, and she gets irate at that and reminds him that he had forced her to give up a gold statue that was worth a small fortune. Jeff offers to stroke a check for whatever she thinks the statue is worth, but she just moans sadly about how she's been in love twice in her life...and destroyed it the second time around. She amiably agrees to pack up her fuzzy sweaters and get out of his life forever, and Jeff concurs that that would be the best, even though a small part of him sorta wishes that the faux marriage had worked out. Luke arrives at the mansion to ask Steven for a recommendation so he can get a job elsewhere, then admits that he's purely using this as an excuse to drop in on him in person. When he confesses to Steven that he can't stop thinking about him, Steven says he's missed him too and that they need to talk somewhere more private...then ushers him out of the sitting room just as - ack! - Blake and Krystle return home. He introduces them to Luke as his "friend" while nervously hoping that the situation won't degenerate into another Ted Dinard/manslaughter situation - but Blake and Krystle just greet Luke politely, then go upstairs to retire for the night. Dex staggers into the penthouse in his sweaty, weakened state...and Alexis hears the commotion and is all, "Dex..? Is that you?" She rushes downstairs in time to see Dex keel over in the foyer, and when she asks what in blazes is wrong with him, he starts twitching uncontrollably while moaning, "Chills.." As the nurses prepare Dominique for her surgery, she tells Blake and Krystle that she just had a dream about her funeral, then makes it clear that if she expires on the operating table, she wants the most elegant, over-the-top funeral the world has ever seen. Blake assures her she'll be fine post-surgery, and Krystle pensively concurs and says they'll be waiting for her when the doctors wheel her back in. In the next scene, we get some superfluous footage of the surgeons, headed by Dr. Chase, hovering over Dominique in their scrubs and startled by the discovery of a pesky tumor that's blocking her heart valve. Egads! In the waiting room, Krystle tells Blake it's a shame that the person Dominique was closest to - Billy Dee Williams - is being kept away from her at a time when she needs him the most. She says it shouldn't take a health crisis for two people to realize how much they love each other, and Blake concurs - but then urges her to go home and get some rest. Krystle stares mutely into space for a few seconds before quietly exiting the room. Alexis arrives at the hospital, finds Blake in the waiting room, and inquires about Dominique. He gruffly says she's in surgery, then grumbles about how she made Dominique's life hell with her attempted takeover of her company. Alexis haughtily replies, "At least I didn't kill Rashid Ahmed!" and Blake angrily reminds her that he had nothing to do with the man's death. Alexis sarcastically retorts, "So I read" and flounces off down the hall. Alexis hovers over a delirious Dex, who starts moaning, "Alexis...Alexis...Amanda..?" LOL. Alexis looks put out by the unwitting moaning of her daughter's name by her husband and barks at the doctor to do something to help him. The doctor shrugs and says that Dex is just having some kind of malaria relapse - but that, finger's crossed, it doesn't look like his life is in danger. Dex moans, "Amanda...forgive me..." as Alexis poutishly glares at him before storming out of the room. Blake asks the nurse if she can get him an update about how Dominique's surgery is going, but she tells him to chillax and that a surgeon will be out at some point to talk to him. Steven arrives to check in with Blake, who asks him whassup with him inviting Luke to the mansion last night. Steven says that he's pretty sure he still loves Claudia, but is absolutely certain he loves Luke and is tired of fighting his gay tendencies just so he can be the kind of son he (Blake) wants. Blake stares despondently into space for a few seconds, then says that after losing Fallon, he doesn't want to rehash all the tedious 'I hate having a gay son!' bitching from seasons past. He then steps toward Steven and gives him a really awkward looking hug. Dr. Chase tells his fellow surgeons that all looks well with Dominique, and orders them to close her up while he rushes over to the waiting room to give Blake an update. Suddenly, Dominique's heart rate slows down to the point that she goes into shock, and the nurse pages Dr. Chase to return to the OR, stat! Adam and Claudia arrive at the hospital to check in on Blake. As Adam ambles off to get some coffee, Blake tells Claudia that he spoke to Steven and knows he's newly hot for Luke. That said, he implores her to not simply abandon her marriage - but Claudia firmly says she's not waiting around for a formerly happily married man who is torn to pieces by his love for another man. Adam returns from his coffee run and overhears that last part, and snarks at Blake that Claudia can't force Steven to be straight. He admonishes Blake for trying to maintain a vision of what he wants everything to be, then hustles Claudia out of the room. Back at Carrington manor, Jeff tells Krystle he dumped Nicole once he learned that she conned him into a fake marriage. As Krystle stares back at him in pensive shock, he assures her he's OK, and that he was pretty sure the chemistry-free relationship wasn't going to work out anyway. He then looks over at the Fallon portrait, contorts his face into a sad expression, and moans, "When will it stop hurrrrrrting?" Krystle says it'd help if he looked to the future instead of living in the past so damn much. Lady Ashley drops by the hospital to chat with Blake while flirtily clasping his hands in hers. Krystle stands in the doorway of the waiting room to stare pensively at the cozy moment, then quietly walks off without making her presence known. A few seconds later, Dr. Chase enters the room to tell Blake that Dominique is finally out of surgery and is expected to fully recover. Lady Ashley heads back to La Mirage, finds Jeff drinking at the bar, and seats herself next to him. When she asks whassup, he glumly tells her his sham marriage is over. She says that drinking won't solve his problems - but rebuffs his flirty proposition to head up to her room, and suggests they have dinner instead. Dex regains consciousness while a suspicious looking Alexis is - ack! - hovering over him. He tells her he had a dream about her, and she nods and says she heard him calling out her name...then says that being delirious is a little like going to a confessional. When she asks him where he's been for the last two episodes, he murmurs, "It's a long story", then falls back asleep. Alexis shakes her head in dismay before storming out of the room. Alexis heads back to ColbyCo and calls up King Galen of Moldavia. She reminds him about their romantic history and says that since Prince Michael is handsome and single and Amanda is ravishing and single, why the hell not pressure the two to get married? Sounds perfectly reasonable. Thanks for reading! If you are enjoying TVofYore's recaps, consider thanking me by buying me a "coffee"!
