"My overflowing toilet is an apt metaphor for this dismal series finale."

"Party of One"
Original airdate: 8/14/2025

Episode summary: In this series finale, Miranda hosts a dismal Thanksgiving dinner, which everyone (except Carrie, Mark Kasabian, and a trio of weirdos) bail out on.
Recap: Carrie arrives at a futuristic style Chinese restaurant for lunch...and after the waiter orders her some popular dishes via the iPad menu, the hostess brings over a large stuffed doll (Tom Tomato) and positions him across from Carrie in the booth. When Carrie just stares at the doll with a 'what the fuck?' expression, the hostess cheerily explains, "You don't have to eat alone."

Over at the editing studio, Marion gushes to Lisa about all the great sheroes content she scored during her recent D.C. trip. Lisa explains that the well-connected interviewee wouldn't sign the release until she agreed to bring her fashionista friends to a private New York bridal fashion show...which seems like a wholly contrived plot device, but OK. A few seconds later, Lisa gets a call from Terry Kirk (aka Marion's friend who works at Obama's production company). Terry is of the opinion that Michelle Obama is too well known to be featured as a shero - but she might instead have an interest in narrating the docuseries. Lisa's all, "Woo hoo!" and then she and Marion share a happy hug. He suggests they celebrate by grabbing some dinner, or at least a drink - but Lisa declines and decrees that they both need to "reel whatever this is back in" and firmly limit their contact to the editing room.

While out for dinner, Miranda tells Steve she's afraid that (Brady's baby mama) Mia "might be an idiot". She explains that Mia had complained to Brady that she (Miranda) had violated her aura when she went to the hair saloon she works at, so Brady fibbed that she's bipolar. Steve regrets blowing up at his idiot son for his inability to use birth control and plans to reach out to him - even though he still strongly believes "he did fuck up his fucking life". Miranda wails, "How did we get here?!" and recalls how hard she pushed the use of condoms for years, including using a banana to demonstrate to Brady how to fit it over his dong. Steve assures her they'll figure out this disastrous situation, mostly 'cause he wants this grandchild to be in their lives. He then asks if Mia is pretty, and shrugs when Miranda snappishly wonders why he'd ask a thing like that.

Adam enters the bathroom where Seema is primping for work. She tells him she's going into the office early 'cause she's taking tomorrow afternoon off to attend a private bridal fashion show. Adam pees while sneering about what a waste of time anything wedding-related is, and Seema stares back at him looking perplexed and displeased.

While walking to the bridal fashion show venue, Carrie complains to the gals (Charlotte, Lisa, and Seema) about the Tom Tomato doll in the futuristic Chinese restaurant, and that she was forced to endure "lunch with a side of shame". As the gals gasp in horror, Charlotte suggests submitting a bitchy review on Yelp. Carrie further describes the horror of watching robot servers zipping past her, concluding that society's consensus is that women eating alone was not only tragic in the 1800s, but is also tragic in the future. [You're reading waaaaay too much into the Tom Tomato incident, Carrie.]

Bridal fashion show! As young women model a series of gorgeous white gowns on the runway, Seema tells Carrie she just learned that Adam has zero desire to get married...and, furthermore, that he doesn't even believe in the institution itself 'cause his mother was never married and didn't give him "a reference" for marriage. She then questions whether or not she wants to marry or merely thinks she should, asking, "Do I really want it? Or am I just programmed for it?" [Dunno - but these questions sound suspiciously like repurposed musings from one of Carrie's Sex and the City columns, circa Season 4.] Carrie reveals that she was so into the idea of marrying Big because it meant 'I was chosen', and Seema chews on that 'no duh' of a non-bombshell for a few seconds before wondering aloud if it should even be Adam's responsibility to choose her.

"For years I craved being Big's chosen one."

"And based an entire HBO series on that sad objective."

Lisa, meanwhile, wryly remarks to Charlotte that someone should inform the young girls today that marriage is about waaaaay more than wearing a beautiful wedding gown. She then gripes about not knowing how to help Herbert better cope with his recent election loss, and Charlotte concurs and throws in cancer and how upset Harry is that he can't get hard enough to hit the sheets with her. Lisa grumbles that so much of marriage is dealing with the man's feelings and disappointments, then asks Charlotte if she'd go through with marrying Harry if, all those years ago, she knew then what she knows now. Charlotte happily replies, "Absolutely", and Lisa grins and says, "Me too" - just as the bridal fashion show comes to its conclusion.

Later, Carrie laments to Charlotte that she stands a very good chance of being alone for the rest of her life...and that she's never lived without the hope of hooking up with a special someone in the foreseeable future. After the shock and devastation of Big's death, she couldn't help but wonder if perhaps Aidan could be recycled as a love interest...and when that didn't pan out, there was her fling with Duncan - before he made it clear he had no interest in pursuing anything permanent with her. She firmly concludes that she's going to have to start accepting that she's destined to live out the rest of her life as a single woman - but insists "it's not a tragedy; it's a fact". A troubled looking Charlotte responds by wankingly assuring her that she's sooooo fabulous.

Lisa returns home and heads over to the bedroom, where Herbert is mopishly sitting up in bed, reading. She takes his hand and vows, "I, Lisa, take you, Herbert...in Tom Ford suits or sweatsuits 'til death do us part." Herbert smiles back at her and promises to get over the loss of not being the city's comptroller, and she corrects him, "We'll get over this" and kisses his hand before leaning in for a hug.

On the morning of Thanksgiving Day, Adam is putting the finishing touches on Carrie's courtyard - which somehow looks worse than it did before he began planting things - and declines to reveal what he's planting in one of the beds so that she'll be (pleasantly?) surprised once spring arrives. When Carrie asks him why he's working on Thanksgiving, he just shrugs and says that to him it's just another Thursday. Carrie remarks on how he doesn't seem to believe in a lot of traditions...and when Adam correctly assumes she spoke to Seema and is referring to marriage, she says she only has one question: is Seema just a Thursday? Adam dreamily describes Seema as special and a lifetime, and Carrie seems satisfied enough with that response, then glances around the courtyard and tells Adam she'd like it to return to something that feels more wild and free. He nods and says, "OK. Let's do you" ... and I can't help but wonder if Carrie wishes she had hired a more astute landscaper.

Charlotte is in her kitchen, basting the turkey, when Harry appears behind her with a holy shit! expression on his face. He announces, "I'm crisp and ready to baste", and then he and Charlotte rush over to their bedroom, breezing past a joyous looking Lily on the way...and the knowing look on Lily's smiling face came across as extremely weird.

"If I were a Thanksgiving turkey, I'd be crisp and ready for basting."

"Then let's get you inside the oven, pronto."

Carrie stops by the local bakery to collect the many pies she ordered at the beginning of the previous episode, then begins making her personalized deliveries. When she arrives at Casa Goldenblatt to drop off a pie and collect stuffing, Lily tells her that Charlotte's too busy getting boned by a newly hard Harry to come to the door...to which Carrie cheerily retorts, "OK, no stuffing!" She then continues on to..
  • The Wexley residence to deliver apple crisp to a delighted Lisa
  • Seema's street, where she finds Seema casually dressed in jeans as she's about to head over to Adam's sister's place
  • Anthony's decrepit apartment, from which she hastily departs when he starts lamenting having to dump his betrothed on a national holiday

Carrie finally arrives at Miranda's apartment and learns that Miranda is upset because Joy just texted that her dog is "suddenly sick". She assumes that Joy is lying about it after she witnessed a terrible fight between herself and Brady. Carrie urges her to call Joy to find out what's actually happening, then heads over to the kitchen to greet Brady, who's making mashed potatoes and grumbling about the guest list, which has abruptly dropped from thirteen to six. A few seconds later, Miranda appears in the kitchen doorway and announces, "It's real" and explains that one of Joy's dogs swallowed something sharp and needs surgery. She tells a bewildered Carrie and Brady that she's off to the animal hospital to check in on Joy, and promises to be back in an hour.

Carrie is putting a French cheese plate on the table when Mia and her two weird friends arrive: a cartoonishly flamboyantly gay man named Silvio, and the transgender, non-binary Epcot (whose parents are Disney freaks). Brady emerges from the kitchen to say hey to Mia, prompting Silvio to remark, "Oh, he's a ginger. No girl...bye." Carrie motions at the cheese plate - but Mia declares that she only eats cucumbers, brown rice, and seaweed, while Epcot snootily says they don't eat dairy. A few seconds later, Mark Kasabian arrives clutching a bottle of wine, and a confused Carrie informs him that Charlotte and her family opted to spend the holiday at home this year. Mark smarmily replies, "You're here, I'm here", while Brady glumly announces that he's off to buy "seaweed and shit". Carrie introduces Mark to Mia, Silvio, and Epcot...and he looks less than impressed by the trio.

Miranda arrives at the animal hospital and finds a tearful Joy awaiting the veterinarian's assessment of her ailing pooch, who apparently ate a Lego piece some demon child dropped in the park. A few seconds later, the vet emerges to assure Joy that her dog is A-OK, and that the surgery was a total success. Yay!

Mark gushes to Carrie about how much he looooooves autumn and that he wishes to share his East Hampton house with someone special. Subtle, Mark. Carrie does her best to ignore his flirting and heads over to the oven to check on the turkey and thinks it looks done...and when Mark's like, "Sure - but what do I know?", they stupidly take it out of the oven several hours too soon. A few seconds later, Charlotte arrives to drop off her stuffing and happily tell Carrie about Harry's re-functioning penis. Carrie whispers, "I'm going to kill you" and motions at Mark...and Charlotte pokes her head into the kitchen and apologizes to Mark for not updating him about her change of plans.

Carrie pulls Charlotte aside to make her feel as bad as possible about taking it upon herself to play matchmaker, so Charlotte explains that she somehow got the idea that she and Mark shared a flirty connection when they ran into each other at Rock's school play. She adds that she haaaaates the idea of her (Carrie) believing there's no man out there for her, and points out that Mark is smart and cultured. Carrie blurts out, "He's been married three times!" and Charlotte refrains from countering, "Uh, so was Big", and shares that Mark is so wealthy he has his own plane.

Silvio, who's wearing a denim ensemble that features a shoulder-baring top, is performing dance moves as music blares in the background...and while that's happening, Miranda returns home and explains to Mia et. al. that she had to briefly check in with her girlfriend about her sick dog. As Epcot heads straight for the bathroom to shit out all the French cheese they've been scarfing down despite being lactose intolerant, Miranda stares confusedly at Silvio's dancing and asks if he wouldn't mind turning down the music...and then try to behave like a polite grownup, given that he's a (barely invited) dinner guest in her home.

"What in the living fuck are you doing?"

"Taking up far too much airtime, clearly."

Brady announces that dinner is now going to be seaweed, brown rice, and cucumbers 'cause the turkey is very raw...and Carrie looks aghast and apologizes for taking it out of the oven too soon. Brady then notices Mia eating some of the French cheese, is all 'what the fuck?', and complains that he's been running all over town picking up seaweed, brown rice, and cucumbers. Mia just shrugs and tells him she never instructed him to do that, and then Epcot exits the bathroom and grimly asks if anyone has matches before explaining "that cheese is no joke".

Later, Carrie and Miranda are sitting around the table after Mia et. al. have hastily departed. Carrie grumbles to Miranda that Charlotte had convinced herself that she (Carrie) would be dazzled by Mark 'cause he has his own plane. She then motions towards the bathroom (where Mark is relieving himself) and predicts that when he emerges he'll offer to take her home.

Mark flushes the toilet...and a few seconds later, it starts overflowing with chunks of Epcot's turds (yep, it really does). Given Epcot's self described stomach issues, a more realistic outcome would probably have been more of a loose stool diarrhea situation - but that's all I'm going to say 'bout that.

Miranda tells Carrie that Brady is soooo pissed at her that he opted to spend the night at Steve's place - just as Mark hastily exits the bathroom and reports the gross plumbing mishap to Miranda. He clarifies, "I don't have a problem with French cheese", then quickly says he'll see himself out and flees. A relieved looking Carrie gleefully smiles to herself.

As Miranda cleans her pooped up bathroom, she deflatedly asks Carrie what in blazes has happened to her life, to which Carrie unhelpfully puns, "Shit happens." Heh. Joy then drops by to join Miranda for dessert as a thank you for spending part of the holiday with her family (aka the dogs). As the two hug (while Miranda is still wearing her poop smeared cleaning gloves), Carrie heads over to the kitchen, takes one of the leftover pies, and quietly leaves. She returns to her townhouse mansion, and decides that since there's no Duncan living below her, she no longer needs to take her shoes off. She then turns on the karaoke machine and selects Barry White's You're the First, The Last, My Everything.

Guiseppe assures Anthony he's wrong in assuming that he only proposed 'cause he needs a mommy figure as a spouse. He then expresses his anger by mashing a pie in Anthony's face...and a shocked Anthony reacts by declaring, "I'm not cleaning this up" before the two burst out laughing.

Charlotte tells Rock that she dutifully deleted the photo Carrie took of them during the Thoroughly Modern Millie play 'cause it makes her think of them in a certain (feminine) way. Rock just shrugs and says it was merely a part in a school play, then pronounces, "I'm going to be a lot of people in my life." Lily tells Rock that she took oodles of photos of them as Millie...and then the entire family gathers around Lily and her iPhone to oooh and aaah over pics of Rock.

As Herbert enjoys a piece of pie, he happily points out to Lisa that, since he's not becoming NYC's comptroller, he no longer has to worry about gaining weight. He then stops her from starting to wash up all the dirty dishes and tenderly assures her that since she did all the cooking, he'll do all the cleanup. You're a good man, Herbert.

After that, we get a superfluous, pie-eating montage:
  • Carrie eats her pie while jigging to Barry White
  • Seema eats pie while enjoying the holiday at Adam's sister's place
  • Joy eats pie while chatting with a beaming Miranda

Carrie heads over to her laptop and defiantly deletes the quasi-hopeful epilogue she had written during the previous episode, replacing it with, "The woman realized she was not alone - she was on her own." That's pretty much exactly the same thing, Carrie.

In the final scene of the (abruptly cancelled) series, Carrie aimlessly struts around her ginormous mansion, singing along with Barry White...which was a tad strange, given that Barry White's voice seemed to be emanating from the karaoke machine, which I thought only played instrumental music tracks.

"Everything about having Thanksgiving at Miranda's place is guaranteed to suck."

"Forget About the Boy"
Original airdate: 8/7/2025

Episode summary: Charlotte is wistful when she sees Rock perform the feminine lead role in Thoroughly Modern Millie. Brady is furious with Miranda when he learns that she invited Mia to their Thanksgiving dinner. Carrie revisits her old apartment.
Recap: Carrie is at a bakery ordering a ridiculously large number of pies to bring to Miranda's Thanksgiving get together. A bemused woman in line behind her asks her if she's placing pie orders [answer: yes], then complains to the baker that she just told her she wasn't taking any more Thanksgiving pie orders. The baker confirms that she's not - except when it comes to St. Carrie, who she claims has ordered pies from her bakery every single Thanksgiving since its founding. Carrie's unwavering support of this local business [which, I'd like to point out, was never once referenced during the entire run of SATC and/or up until now in AJLT] included the Covid lockdown, when she ordered and paid for several pies while knowing she wouldn't even be able to pick them up. The baker chides the customer for her piddly croissant orders, and firmly decrees that Carrie's business is so sacred to her that she can order however many Thanksgiving pies she damn well wants. It remains unclear why this customer doesn't tell the baker where she can shove her croissants and storm outa there.

After exiting the bakery, Carrie calls Miranda to inform her that she just ordered enough pies to feed an army, and Miranda calculates her massive order as a "two people per pie" ratio. Carrie's like, "Oops! I don't know what the hell I'm doing!" [which seems to contradict her long history of Thanksgiving pie ordering] and tells Miranda she's currently strolling around the Upper East Side to wistfully stare at her old brownstone - just as Lisette comes bounding down the stairs. Carrie jokingly informs her that she wants her old place back, and Lisette gives her a hello hug and tells her she just broke up with her latest boyfriend - a fleeting relationship that only lasted seven months. Carrie can't resist one upping her by sharing that she recently split with Aidan, her love of twenty-two years, despite the fact that she and Aidan were only ever girlfriend and boyfriend for a sum total of maybe three years [meaning, the years that passed when you and Aidan were married to different people don't count, Carrie]. Lisette then tells Carrie she's hosting a party just before Thanksgiving and invites her to attend, then bids her adieu and climbs into a waiting Uber.

While setting the table for dinner, Harry grumbles to Charlotte about how desperately he does not want to spend Thanksgiving at Miranda's apartment, 'cause 1) he doubts she has the first clue how to make tasty stuffing, and 2) he can only assume that she'll ban football watching and force her guests to listen to NPR...or some shit. Charlotte reminds him that she's making the stuffing and bringing it over to Miranda's - but Harry insists that he wants to eat her stuffing in his own home, and then watch football on his own couch before passing out. Charlotte weakly promises to try to get them out of it - just as Rock exits the bathroom wearing a pretty brown wig and glittery red costume dress (for their role in the upcoming school play, Thoroughly Modern Millie). They sashay towards Charlotte, who stares at them with an expression of longing wistfulness. Rock grumbles about how much the wig itches, that Lily caked on way too much makeup, and makes it clear that they're only dressed like this 'cause showbiz has decreed that they need to wear this girly get-up.

While in the fitting room at Bergdorf's, Guiseppe gets down on one knee and proposes marriage to Anthony, who stares back at him in shock before uttering a yes.

Carrie's editor (Amanda) raves on and on about how her new historical novel is fan-fucking-tastic and has such moving, fluid prose. When she says she just needs to see the last chapter, Carrie tells her it's already in the manuscript...and when Amanda reads the final pages, she scrunches her face disapprovingly and says in bewilderment that the story appears to end with "the woman" sitting in her garden alone. She cheerily reminds Carrie, "You know me. Happy ending gal" and makes clear that she can't/won't green light a book that ends in tragedy. When Carrie asks why a woman living alone is a tragedy, Amanda points out that a woman in 1846 living alone in a ginormous townhouse mansion would be a romantic tragedy. This really does seem like sage writing advice, Carrie. Just take it.
Picture

"I consider the fate of the woman living alone in a huge mansion to be an honest ending that mirrors my personal living situation."

Picture

"Whereas I consider it an unpublishable manuscript."

Over at the townhouse mansion, Charlotte tells Miranda and Carrie that they haaaaave to come to Rock's school play...and adds that Rock looks soooooo grown up and pretty in their Thoroughly Modern Millie costume. Charlotte hastily adds that she's not sure she's allowed to be saying that about her non-binary child - but can't help herself from fantasizing about what might have been had Rock self-identified as a girl. Carrie says she'd love to attend the play, while Miranda declines 'cause she has plans to attend a lecture with Joy. She then announces that she invited Mia to their Thanksgiving get together without telling Brady, and justifies keeping him in the dark 'cause he's already very nervous about cooking the turkey. Seems like really weak reasoning, but OK. Carrie eventually pivots the conversation to herself by recounting the chat she just had with Amanda about her latest manuscript, and says she's bummed that her publishing house considers it a romantic tragedy when a woman ends up alone. She adds that Amanda has asked her to write up an epilogue to offer a feel good ending for readers, then grumbles that she much prefers her "honest" ending of her book, aka "the woman" sitting alone in her courtyard. She muses about what sort of hope she should be giving to her potential readers - when Charlotte abruptly shrieks that she suddenly remembered Anthony and Guiseppe are now engaged.

After Adam indulges Seema with oral sex in the shower, he invites her to join him at his sister's place for Thanksgiving. He cooingly says he's most thankful for her, then declares, "I love you" ... and Seema reciprocates before they press against each other for a smooch.

Carrie arrives at The Arbor School to attend Rock's play, where she runs into Anthony and gives him a congratulatory hug on his/Guiseppe's recent engagement. Anthony scrunches his face concernedly and admits that he's having second thoughts about shackling himself to someone so young - but that he couldn't resist saying yes to the well-hung young man who proposed to him on bended knee. Carrie naturally makes it all about her when she recalls that Aidan did the very same thing in Season 4: "Aidan...a knee...a street...a dog...a ring...a yes." (Which all promptly turned into a no.) A few seconds later, Charlotte arrives with her gallery boss (Mark Kasabian) whose daughter is working behind the scenes at the play before Guiseppe wanders over and is congratulated on his engagement. Soon after, Harry and Lily appear and hand out black and white cookies to everyone so that they have a snack during the intermission.

A group of mothers tell Herbert they're disappointed about his election loss, and non-subtly guilt him about all the campaign money they donated...and then the principal stops by to toot his own horn about shoring up support for Herbert from the LGBTQ community.

Showtime! A lot of airtime is devoted to footage of Rock performing the lead role of Thoroughly Modern Millie. Charlotte asks Carrie if she wouldn't mind taking a photo, 'cause she needs a roundabout way to honor her child's expressed wish that she take no photos for posterity while sneakily being able to capture this wonderful moment.

The next morning, Herbert glumly tells Lisa he's going to be working from home today 'cause he's deeply embarrassed at having failed himself and his family when he lost the election. Lisa assures him he hasn't failed anyone and that she's proud to be his wife - but he grumblingly retorts that she's not helping, and urges her to head off to her studio and continue editing her interminable sheroes docuseries.

While laying in bed together, Harry starts to get amorous with Charlotte...and when she excitedly remarks that she feels something hard against her back, he wryly pulls out his iPad from under the sheets and explains that he was using it to watch porn to see if it'd help stir some penile action [end result: not]. Charlotte tells him she couldn't bring herself to tell Miranda that he desperately does not want to spend Thanksgiving at her place, and Harry digs in hard about how much it comforted him (while enduring his prostate cancer ordeal) to anticipate spending the holiday at home with his family. Charlotte looks moved by that admission and promises to allow him to celebrate Thanksgiving exactly the way he wants to.

Later, Charlotte studies the photo of Rock that Carrie took during her performance in Thoroughly Modern Millie. After staring at it longingly for several seconds, she deletes it.

Miranda has invited Joy over for some takeout when Brady arrives home and bitchily asks his mother whassup with the text from Mia, accepting her invitation for their Thanksgiving get together. Miranda looks surprised that Mia actually accepted, then explains to Brady that she took it upon herself to go to the hair salon where she washes hair..and felt bad when she learned that Mia's mom blocked her from Facebook and left her with no Thanksgiving plans, and extended the invitation. Brady barks that "it is soooo fucked up", to which Miranda points out that it's an opportunity for them to get to know each other, given that there's a baby on the way. Brady asks Joy to weigh in, but she's too focused on the anxiety of her dogs (who are reacting negatively to Brady's fury) to express any kind of opinion.
Picture

"It is so fucked up that you invited my baby mama for Thanksgiving."

"But not nearly as fucked up as yelling at your well-intentioned mother for fucking up."

While out for drinks, Seema tells Carrie she has to (mercifully) take a hard pass on Miranda's Thanksgiving dinner 'cause Adam invited her to spend the holiday at his sister's place. She then changes the conversation to the now vacant apartment below Carrie's townhouse mansion and says that since Duncan has opted to not renew his lease, the family who owns it wants to sell. When she asks Carrie if she's interested, Carrie chucklingly asks why she'd want yet more space, and Seema's like, "Uh resale..?" and points out how desirable it'd be, from the prospective of a property owner, to own the entire thing. Carrie gets visibly upset 'cause she'd hoped Duncan would change his mind and return to New York, and leaps to the conclusion that Seema is suggesting she should sell her ridiculously large home. Seema assures her she was merely "asking a business question", and Carrie apologizes for being so weirdly prickly and shares that she just got invited to her old studio apartment for a party, and is worried she'll feel pangs of regret for selling it.

In the next scene, Carrie arrives at her old building and is startled when she sees that Lisette and her friend Ezekiel now share the space, and that they've built a wall that splits the small living space into two very small living spaces:
  • The two share the bathroom
  • Ezekiel got the kitchen
  • Lisette got the walk-in closet
  • (This seems like a very silly, totally illegal setup)

Lisette pours two glasses of champagne and tells Carrie she haaaaates living alone 'cause she fears being murdered by an intruder or - worse - being abducted and kept alive in a cage "for whatever". [I'm wondering if maybe this woman watches way too many true crime shows.] She asks Carrie if she isn't scared of living alone in her multi-story townhouse mansion - but Carrie just kind of shrugs and says she has a security system in place.

Later, Carrie returns home and writes the epilogue to her historical novel: "the woman" returns home, lights a candle, and sees that there's an envelop waiting for her. Inside is an invitation to attend a party welcoming Virginia Perry's cousin (Joshua Perry) home from his recent trip to London. "The woman" can't help but be intrigued, given that "this was the handsome widower Virginia had spoken so highly of".

It's interesting that Virginia and Joshua Perry get first and last names, while "the woman" is deprived of that courtesy.

"Meet my mom, crawling ivy."

"Better Than Sex"
Original airdate: 7/31/2025

Episode summary: Brady tells his parents he impregnated some rando he hooked up with a couple of times. Adam introduces Seema to his houseplanted mother. Carrie and Duncan share a night of passion before he leaves New York for good.
Recap: Carrie is sitting in front of her window, writing about "the woman", who's now living alone, as in without the family she once thought would inhabit the townhouse mansion with her [and I really can't help but wonder if it's the most sensible strategy for a writer to structure a historical fiction novel in a way that mirrors her own life in real time]. Carrie then heads downstairs, where Duncan is reading more of her chapters and looooooving the life journey of "the woman". He nauseatingly coos, "Oh my.." before gushing to Carrie about what a smart and clever writer she was to have repeated the phrase "she had done all she could" three times, and that it's definitely a manuscript he'd consider Scotch-worthy. As he pours them drinks, the two compare their various successes as published authors...and Carrie chucklingly points out to Duncan that, as a writer of biographies, "the plots are already written for you" - but then concedes that she would not be this far along in her latest novel without his help. Duncan's like, "On that note.." and heads back down to his hovel so he can continue working on the Thatcher bio.

Over at Casa Miranda, Brady is cooking a fancy dinner for Miranda and Steve when he makes two life announcements:
  • He has enrolled himself in the Institute for Culinary Cooking to become a chef
  • He impregnated some rando named Mia while he was wasted one night, and is taking her word for it that the spawn is his

Steve becomes instantly enraged and chides his idiot son for his lack of birth control use while hooking up with a near stranger, then threatens physical violence if he uselessly shrugs at him one more time. Brady gets up and heads for the door, 'cause he doesn't like being subjected to his father's threats...and after he leaves Steve moans, "Fuuuuuuuuck.." while a despondent Miranda stares concernedly into space.
Picture

"I knocked up a stranger named Mia...something or other."

Picture

"Nice use of birth control, son."

Miranda sets up a three-way call so that she can lament to Charlotte and Carrie about how Brady's bun is in some strange woman's oven. Charlotte reacts by gasping and moaning, "Nooooo..", then unhelpfully remarks that that kind of unexpected pregnancy in the family would be her worst nightmare. Miranda muses about the prospect of being a grandmother - but Carrie points out that if Mia doesn't want a relationship with Brady, she likely won't want one with the larger Hobbes/Brady clan.

Anthony and Guiseppe are going at it in bed when a fireman knocks on the door and tells them they need to evacuate the building pronto due to a punctured gas line. Guiseppe suggests they head over to his apartment (which he shares with a weird roommate), and Anthony grumblingly complains about how inconvenient it is to have to vacate his home on such short notice.

Lisa, for whatever reason, is spending quality time with Gabi's (caged) pet hamster in her closet office, then tells Herbert she's off to Washington D.C. to conduct an interview for her sheroes documentary. Herbert reminds her that he has one last campaign event on Friday night, and Lisa says she'll be there...but whines about how overbooked she's been lately.

Anthony and Guiseppe are lying in bed when Guiseppe's roommate barges in without knocking to show off his new marionette: a Guiseppe lookalike with a gargantuan penis. When he hastily exits the room once he sees that Guiseppe isn't alone, Guiseppe explains to a bewildered Anthony that his roommate (Andrew) likes to carve dolls out of wood and then perform entertainment with them in Strawberry Fields (which, incidentally, is where the two first met). Guiseppe then explains that he's not worried about Andrew being attracted to him - even after carving a large penised marionette that looks exactly like him - 'cause apparently the weirdo self identifies as an asexual being.

Charlotte has hired workmen to replace the hideous wallpaper in her family's penthouse - but is now having trouble finding a non-noisy place to conduct her Zoom call with a therapist named Rhonda Portante, who refuses to turn on her camera and is trying in vain to lead her through a guided meditation as part of an overall psychic energy cleanse. Added to the workmen's noise is the ruckus outside her door when Rock and Henry decide to use the un-tarped floor space to practice their tap dancing for an upcoming school play. An exasperated Charlotte tells Rhonda Portante she's going to need to reschedule whatever time remains on their Zoom appointment.

Adam is giving Seema a tour of his apartment, which he tells her is a rent controlled unit that costs just $900 a month. An envious Seema blurts out, "You motherfucker!" as she admires all of the artwork and pottery on display...all made by his mom before she tragically died of breast cancer. Adam then ushers Seema over to the kitchen and motions at a lush plant that's tentacled around the window and introduces it as his mother. When Seema stares back at him confusedly, he explains (?) that when he was seven years old, he gave his mom this sad little plant for Mother's Day, which has since grown and thrived. He proudly says, "This is my mom, in a nutshell. All love, care, and determination." Um, ok..?

While out for a drink, Seema tells Carrie that Adam has some serious mommy issues, not least 'cause he regards her as a saint and lives in an apartment that is an obvious shrine to the deceased woman. Carrie's like, "Yeah whatever" and says she needs to head out now 'cause she doesn't want to be late for her writing session with Duncan She then pontificates about about how much she loooooves the fact that he sees her as a smart person first - unlike most men whose first impression of her is that she's cute, and later learn what a gifted writer she is - and loooooves that Duncan respects her literary genius and what makes her her. [I found every part of that bloviation retch-worthy...but will put in a pin in it and continue on.]

Miranda drags Charlotte along to the hair salon where Mia works, and is surprised to learn that Brady's alleged baby mama is a shampoo girl, not a full-on hair stylist.

In the next scene, Mia is shampooing Miranda's hair as she farts uncontrollably. She apologizes for her bodily stank and explains that her extreme gassiness is a direct result of her pregnancy...and that she had planned on having an abortion - until she realized that the spawn would be a double Libra. When Miranda asks her if the dad is into astrology, Mia's all, "Dunno" and says he's more of a fuck buddy than anything resembling a boyfriend. Miranda can't resist going a step too far when she suggests that Mia get a paternity test to determine if this fuck buddy is, in fact, the bio dad...then sheepishly introduces herself as Fuck Buddy's mom. Mia reacts by spraying water in her face, then throwing a towel at her. Miranda apologizes for the deception and says she's still processing the seismic news, and was hoping to make a connection so that her family can get to know this little boy or girl after the birth. Mia stares back at her with an amused expression and sneers "You're sooooo binary" before huffing off in mid-fart.

"Pffft. Non-genderqueer much?"

Carrie is having problems with her home printer, so Duncan tries his hand at troubleshooting it by unplugging it and then plugging it back in...which totally resolves the issue [and like Duncan, that's generally my go-to solution as well]. Duncan looks around the guest room and remarks on what a lovely space it is, then gets a tour of her closet, which is filled with her stupid-expensive stiletto collection. He looks positively charmed by all the sparkly shoes (which he actually talks directly to), and coos, "You are just a fairytale, aren't you?", then tells Carrie he's expected to attend a party on Tuesday night that his publisher is throwing and would looooove for her to be his plus one. Carrie hems and haws for a couple of seconds, but accepts his invitation.

Gabi is looking for her hamster in Lisa's closet office, and explains to her mother that she removed her tiny pet from its cage so she could take her for a walk. Lisa loses her shit and rails about how they're never going to be able to find the tiny rodent in their ginormous penthouse. She asks her daughter how she could do something so utterly stoooopid - just as her mother-in-law enters the room and chides her for talking to her child in such a horrendous manner. Herbert then enters the room and coos at Lisa that she's only human and can't expect to be Mother of the Year every minute of the day - just as Lisa spots the hamster and yells at Herbert to go catch it.

Seema is smoking a cigarette in Adam's kitchen and opens the window to direct the smoke outdoors...and in the process somehow manages to accidentally shove his houseplanted mother [I don't know what else to call this lunacy] out the window, where it crashes to the ground below. She quickly heads over to the bedroom and sheepishly tells Adam that she just killed his mother, and he's all, "Fuuuuck.."

Charlotte is over at Carrie's townhouse mansion so she can conduct her Zoom energy cleanse in a quiet place. On her way to the bedroom she spots a (fugly) Vivienne Westwood outfit on a hanger, and Carrie explains that she's putting together an outfit for a publishing party Duncan invited her to...and had hesitated accepting his invitation 'cause Miranda had recently insinuated that there was something going on between her and Duncan. She admits to getting obnoxiously defensive about it in the They Wanna Have Fun episode...and when Charlotte asks if there is, in fact, anything going on between her and Duncan, Carrie once again gets defensive - but then catches herself. She frets that if she indulges in any kind of romance with Duncan she'd never hear the end of it from Miranda, and Charlotte retorts, "Fuck Miranda", which amuses Carrie, who then leaves the room to give her some privacy for her online energy cleanse session. Charlotte tells Rhonda Portante about how devastating it's been dealing with Harry's cancer diagnosis, and Rhonda finally turns on her camera - hey, it's Susie from Curb Your Enthusiasm! - and says she'd be more than happy to lead her through a guided meditation session...and is A-OK if it goes over the twelve minutes she has left of the prepaid session.
Picture

"OMG, are you hooking up with Duncan?"

Picture

"I refuse to on the grounds that Miranda can smugly point out that she was right about us."

Adam stops by Seema's loft office to ask whassup with her not returning his many texts and phone calls. Seema tells him she felt bad for killing his houseplanted mother, and Adam points out that cancer killed his mother...and that - good news! - he was able to salvage some of the plant's clippings, which he planted in various pots and placed throughout her office [without bothering to ask permission]. As Seema heads across the loft and looks at the new greenery in wonderment, she warns Adam that she's not a plant person. Adam assures her that his replanted mother is determined - and that she also has him to help her keep the repotted plants from dying.

Election night! Herbert, his cantankerous mom, and the rest of the Wexley family get dressed up to head over to his campaign headquarters to watch the election coverage. They all enter the elevator, optimistic that Herbert is going to be New York City's next comptroller - but a few hours later, the family exits the elevator looking despondent when it turns out that working class voters swayed the results not in Herbert's favor. His mother shoots him a bitchy stink-eye and haughtily asks how he could enter a race if there was a chance he could lose...and after she huffs off, Lisa tells Herbert not to let the miserable old crow to get to him and reminds him he's only human. [Dunno what the point of this entire 'Herbert runs for comptroller' subplot was, only to have him lose the election...but whatevs.]

Carrie puts on a smart business suit to wear to Duncan's party and heads downstairs - but then abruptly stops and rethinks her outfit.

In the next scene, Carrie shows up at Duncan's party wearing sparkly stilettos and the Vivienne Westwood ensemble that Charlotte had remarked on earlier...and it looks like a really uncomfortable, unflatteringly boob-compressing get-up.

Inside the venue, Duncan is chatting with his publisher when Carrie flounces in. The publisher notices her entrance, remarks on her fabulous boob-compressing garb, and wonders aloud why this local celeb would be in attendance at her event. Duncan explains that Carrie is his upstairs neighbour and that he invited her, and the publisher looks visibly impressed by that connection and says she's been soooooo desperate to have Carrie Bradshow show up at one of her events.

Duncan wanders over to Carrie and compliments her on how nicely she cleans up, then offers to get them drinks.

Anthony tells Guiseppe he's very creeped out by his roommate Andrew, then suggests they move in together...and Guiseppe thanks him for the wonderful offer, but is concerned that they might be moving too fast. He then heads over to the bathroom...and on the way he peeks into the second bedroom, where Andrew is jerking off to the Guiseppe lookalike marionette. Guiseppe looks aghast by the icky spectacle, then rushes back to his bedroom to tell Anthony that, yep, he'll move in with him asap.

Duncan, his publisher, and Carrie are chatting...and the publisher is so visibly impressed with Carrie that she gives her her business card and says to let her know if she ever needs a UK-based publisher. After she saunters off, Duncan invites Carrie to blow off the rest of the party in favor of getting something to eat.

Miranda peeks into Brady's bedroom and sees that he's fallen asleep while reading A Cook's Tour. She stares down at him lovingly and turns off the light.

Carrie and Duncan are chatting about their writing processes as they return home. Carrie solemnly wanks him about how both he and his book-in-progress are wonderful, and Duncan counter-wanks her about his delightful discovery that she's "a thing" in New York [despite: not]. He invites her to come downstairs [not to work on their chapters, to be clear], but she just shakes her head. Duncan's like, "Good night then" and heads off...and a few seconds later, Carrie gets all romcom as she suddenly turns around and races down the stairs, breathlessly moaning, "Duncan!" before pressing against him for an amorous smooch.
Picture

"Wanna come downstairs and hit the sheets?"

Picture

"No - but maybe in thirty seconds from now."

Post-coitus, Duncan tells Carrie he won't be returning to New York 'cause of how much a distraction she is to his writing. He excitedly asks her what's going to happen to "the woman" in her historical novel, and Carrie jokes that she'll either die of loneliness or smallpox. Duncan suggests she allow "the woman" to live, then gushes about how she's the first living person he's gotten preoccupied with in a long while, and that she's given him a new lifeline. The two then compliment each other one last time about what amaaaaazing writers they are, and enjoy a final smoochfest. And just like that...that's that for Carrie and her sexy downstairs neighbor.

The next day, Carrie is sitting alone in her courtyard, voice-overing about the end of summer, and how "the woman" felt the lingering warmth on her face, then needlessly repeats "how wonderful" three times. It remains unclear how a literacy giant like Duncan Reeves could be so completely spellbound by a manuscript filled with this kind of boring-as-fuck filler prose.

RIP
Carrie's and Aidan's Shitty Relationship

"Present Tense"
Original airdate: 7/24/2025

Episode summary: Miranda comes clean to Joy about her alcoholism. Seema uses a rock crystal as deodorant and gets BO. Carrie gives Aidan the heave-ho.
Recap: Carrie returns home with her dry cleaning. She roams around her ginormous townhouse mansion looking for Aidan, and is annoyed to find him sitting in the courtyard, chatting it up with Duncan.

When Seema wakes up after sleeping in, Adam enters the bedroom and leaps atop the bed for a morning smooch. He then presents her with a rock crystal to use as a deodorant stick - but she makes it clear she's not interested in risking stinking of BO.

Later, while primping for the day, Seema studies the rock crystal and foolishly decides 'why not give it a try?'

Aidan asks Duncan what "the deal is" with his pipe smoking, so Duncan explains that he recently picked up the habit when he started writing the Margaret Thatcher biography. He says he considers it a touchstone to the people of Britain, and that it's a ritual that gets him in the mood to write. A vexed Carrie warns Aidan to drop the topic - but Duncan doesn't seem to mind Aidan's questions and reveals that his ex-wife hated the smell of pipes. When he mentions that they had no children, Aidan sanctimoniously retorts that having kids was the best thing he did with his ex. Carrie somehow restrains herself from irritably telling Aidan to shut his dumb pie-hole, tells Duncan she'll meet up with him later for their writing session, and heads back inside.

Charlotte is stumbling around her bedroom tidying up as she continues to suffer from vertigo. Harry, who's still pretty immobile himself due to his ginormously swollen balls, reminds her that she's supposed to be off her feet until the meds kick in. A few seconds later she falls over, but assures Harry she's OK...and please let this be the last time we ever hear about Charlotte's Sudden Onset Vertigo problems.

Carrie drops by The Patel Group, aka Seema's new loft office for her newly established real estate firm. While munching on sushi takeout, Carrie complains about Aidan chatting it up with Duncan, despite her expressed wish to keep them separated as much as possible. She tells Seema she's worried that Aidan is threatened by Duncan, adding that she cheated on Aidan with Mr. Big before moaning, "It was awful." Yes it (meaning your shitty behavior in Season 3) was indeed awful, Carrie. Seema says that that totally explains why Aidan was peppering both her and Adam with questions about Duncan during the previous episode, then urges her to have a heart-to-heart with Aidan about all this. Carrie gives that a hard no and says she can't bring herself to broach the topic, 'cause she's just so happy he's now able to spend a lot of time with her in New York. A few seconds later, Seema's assistant rushes in to inform her that he just scored her a meeting with the Atlas Telemarking Director (Martin Salizar) - and that it's in forty minutes, way across town. Seema looks alarmed by the tight timeline and immediately gets up and rushes out.

"You're a bigger garbage person than I had originally assumed."

Herbert looks inside the fridge and starts railing about how much cheese there is, which he considers a tempting food/snack that's surely going to result in him regaining all the weight he recently lost. [I haven't noticed much of a difference in his physique, but OK.] His son Henry gives him a strange look and asks if he's talking to him - just as Lisa breezes into the kitchen. Herbert chides her for stocking angel hair pasta in the pantry...then goes more berserk when he finds a package of Nutty Buddies. Henry points out that the Nutty Buddies are his, and that he can safely eat them 'cause he's not fat - a remark which doesn't go over well with Herbert - and then Lisa dismissively tells Herbert to shut it and just start taking Ozempic like everyone else.

Seema has raced across town, and is right on time for her meeting with Martin Salizar. When the waiter takes their drink orders, Martin comments on how pungent the guy's BO is. Seema looks aghast at the mention of BO, discreetly sniffs her pits, and realizes that she's the one emitting the stink. She hastily excuses herself to head over to the ladies room - but finds it occupied. She then fishes through her purse to find her travel sized deodorant stick...and is liberally applying it under her pits just as a woman exits the ladies room and looks visibly icked out. Seema needlessly natters to her, "I'm not this woman. I've seen this woman. I'm not this woman", then returns to her meeting. As with Charlotte's vertigo, I can only hope this is all the mileage as the writers were planning to squeeze out of Seema's deodorant vs. rock crystal conundrum.

Over at Miranda's apartment, Joy asks where her bottle of gin went, so Miranda sits her down and solemnly informs her that she threw it down the garbage chute 'cause she was too afraid to have it in the house [and didn't think to just promptly return it to her, like a normal person might]. She explains to Joy that she's an alcoholic who can't simply enjoy a cocktail here and there. Joy absorbs that uncomfortable truth for a few seconds, then muses about how she likes to drink whenever she feels bad about herself...and has suddenly realized that she might be using booze to dull her emotions. Miranda jokingly assures her that there's lots of room in her new apartment to house both of their emotional baggage.

Lisa and Marion are in the studio, continuing their work of editing the never-ending sheroes docuseries when Herbert calls Lisa to complain that he gained a pound. An exasperated Lisa reminds him that she's too busy to take these kinds of stupid calls, and urges him again to take Ozempic if he's so worried about his weight.

Carrie and Duncan are in Duncan's apartment, immersed in their writing session, when Aidan drops by to cheerily announce, "I got steaks!" Carrie irritably tells him that she and Duncan are working, but that he should feel free to grill the steaks and start dinner without her. Aidan whines that he doesn't want to eat alone, then offers to grill the meat and then bring it downstairs so they can all eat together. Carrie nixes that idea and firmly says she neeeeeeeds to get back to work, and Aidan sulkily goes back upstairs.

Anthony is hosting Patti LuPone for dinner in his studio apartment...and the spartan-ness of it surprised me, 'cause I thought he had inherited more of a luxury pad from Stanford when he bailed on the marriage to become a Shinto monk. When Anthony asks Patti LuPone why she seems to hate him so much, she tells him that-a her husband, with whom she fell a-passionately in love, was thirty a-years her senior...and that when she was in the prime-a of her life, she was forced to become his full time nurse-a-maid. Anthony points out that he's not all that old (sixty-two), and that he can offer Guiseppe "bread and love". Patti LuPone finally decides to drop her phony Italian accent and talk more like the American from Buffalo she is when she wearily suggests, "Let's cut the shit, shall we?" [yes please] and asks him how much money he wants in exchange for getting out of Guiseppe's life. Anthony calls her out on her bullshit fancy airs and likens her to "my manipulative Aunt Miccolina, the Boston bookie with the beard". Patti LuPone reacts to that insult by springing up from her chair, snapping at him to get his "old man ass" out of her son's life, then swipes everything atop the dining table and sends it crashing to the floor. As Anthony looks at her in shock and suggests she seek out a therapist asap, Patti LuPone looks horrified at her violent action and makes a weak attempt to tidy the mess. She begins tidying up by picking up a large knife - just as Guiseppe happens to enter the apartment at that exact moment and is all, "Ack! Mama!" Anthony accusingly barks, "I told you! She's trying to kill me!" while Patti LuPone looks dazed and discombobulated. She spacily tells Guiseppe (in Italian) that if he wants this mess of a relationship he can have it - but that she'll no longer support him financially, or ever be willing to speak of this chapter in his life. After she ambles out, Guiseppe fibs and tells Anthony she had merely expressed her thanks for the home-cooked dinner, and Anthony just kind of shrugs and says, "OK, let's think that." Yes. Let's.

"There are so many more compelling reasons to find me objectionable."

Carrie returns home after her hours-long writing session with Duncan. She notices that Aidan left out a plate filled with raw steaks (instead of putting them in the damn fridge), and quickly heads upstairs. She finds Aidan brooding in bed and thanks him for being so understanding of her wanting to provide Duncan with literary feedback for his Thatcher bio. When she tries to canoodle him, he sniffs her and snaps, "Get away from me. You smell like smoke" and bitchily tells her to shower. Carrie absorbs the verbal smack by silently leaving the room while he stares after with an irked expression.

After showering, Carrie retires to the guest room...and a few seconds later, Aidan enters the room and urges her to return to their bed. She refuses and coldly tells him to shut the door behind him. Ouch.

The next morning, Carrie makes clear to Aidan that he irritated the shit out of her for even talking to Duncan in the courtyard. Aidan weakly claims that he was on the terrace when Duncan emerged from his hovel, and that it would have been weird to not say hello - but Carrie correctly assumes that he was on the terrace specifically waiting for Duncan to show himself so that he could figure out if anything resembling hanky panky was going on between them. Aidan snaps, "This is such bullshit, Carrie", and Carrie crankily tells him she's going for a solitary walk.

Carrie finds herself in a nearby shoe store, where Andy Cohen works as a clerk. This cameo seemed fairly random - until I Googled and learned that Sarah Jessica Parker and Andy Cohen are long-time friends. A few seconds later, Carrie gets a text from Aidan, inviting her to meet him at 2pm at their favorite outdoor patio.

When Carrie arrives at the patio restaurant, Aidan admits that, yep, he definitely has trust issues with her when it comes to other men. Carrie stops him and asks him to specify whether he means has trust issues or had trust issues, then says he should have said had. She goes on to insist that she's done nothing (lately) to be ashamed of, and that he just sounds jealous and suspicious. Aidan grumbles, "Can you fucking blame me?" to which she counters, "Can you stop fucking blaming me?" then gets up and rushes off. Aidan gets up and runs after her, so she whirls around and incredulously asks, "How dare you?" and reminds him that she's done everything to earn his trust and show her commitment to him, not least by buying a ginormous townhouse mansion to accommodate him and his kids. She cries, "I was one hundred percent in! One hundred percent!", and Aidan stops her and asks, "Was or am?" Carrie shakes her head and declares that she can't give him any more than she has...and that she also hated having to deal with his family problems (mostly creepy Wyatt). Aidan mulls that over and says he needs one hundred percent, and she quietly retorts, "So do I." He suddenly looks mournful and tells her he feels sad and was sure they'd make it this time, and Carrie admits that she too is sad and leans against him for a goodbye hug. Phew and thank goooooooodness this train wreck of a badly rekindled relationship is finally over.

"I once opted to be 100% into this deteriorating relationship."

Picture

"Did you say deteriorating or deteriorated?"

Later, Carrie takes down all of the Virginia postcards Aidan had mailed to her earlier in the season. She then tidies the guest room and cuddles Shoo.

Later, Carrie gussies herself up and heads out to a fancy restaurant, where she meets up with Charlotte, Miranda, and Seema. She caps off the episode voice-overing about how "the woman" realized her love with "the man" was locked in the past, which meant that they had no future. The camera then pans out as she happily chats it up with her gal pals...and I can't help but wonder why Carrie is so weirdly stubborn about naming the characters in her new fiction novel.

"Happily Ever After"
Original airdate: 7/17/2025

Episode summary: Miranda rethinks her alcoholic status when Joy leaves a bottle of gin in her apartment. Seema and Adam hit the sheets together and become preoccupied with deodorant. Lisa is alarmed by how attracted she is to her sexy editor.
Recap: Aidan arrives at Carrie's townhouse mansion with more luggage than usual, explaining that he's able to stay in New York for more than just his usual two days. He cheekily asks Carrie if she wouldn't mind shoving her clothes to one side of her closet to provide more room for his stuff, and she stares at him in horror before steering him over to a guest room that has its own closet. Aidan leans in for a smooch and makes it clear that he wants to hit the sheets with her asap...and she tells him she's free until 7:30pm, at which time she has plans to meet up with Duncan for a writing session and go over his chapter notes regarding her latest drivel about "the woman".

Harry is convalescing in bed after his prostate surgery and complaining to Charlotte about how ginormously swollen his balls are looking. When he asks her if she wouldn't mind looking at them to assess if they've gotten any smaller since yesterday, she tells him she can't 'cause Lisa has dropped by to say hello. A few seconds later, Charlotte ushers Lisa into the bedroom...and Lisa hands Harry a box of macadamia nuts she recently got from Hawaii. She unhelpfully remarks, "The jumbo ones I looove" and Harry wryly retorts on the contrived timing of her bringing him a box of jumbo nuts.

While out strolling on Park Avenue, Charlotte asks Lisa how her sheroes docuseries is going, and Lisa tells her she gets along extremely well with her editor...and that she recently had a steamy dream about him. Charlotte assures her it's totally normal, and that she shouldn't feel guilty about him making her naughty parts tingle. Lisa sheepishly adds that she also flirts with Marion whenever they edit together - but that it always stops short of being overtly sexual. Charlotte points out that having an energy like that is good for the creative juices to flow, and Lisa concurs and describes her chemistry with Marion as flirking (aka flirting while working). Charlotte chucklingly tells her that she and her co-workers regularly engage in flirking with the hot young men who hang up art in the gallery, then reminds Lisa that she and Herbert are invited to attend the upcoming exhibit.

Over at the gallery, Charlotte and her colleagues are setting up the new exhibit: a messy bed with a jizzed in condom (topped off with liquid soap to simulate the jizz) littered to one side. Charlotte explains to her colleagues that "the piece" represents a time during the 1980s, a pre-Lena Dunham era when women weren't celebrated for "being this messy". Charlotte then has a sudden dizzy spell and moans about how her vertigo is back despite never once mentioning [throughout the entire run of Sex and the City and/or the first two and a half seasons of And Just Like That..] that she's ever had vertigo, and her colleagues are all, "Vertigo? Is that a real thing?"

Joy has just returned to New York (from Montreal) and drops by Miranda's place for a kiss and a quick drink. She waves around a bottle of rare Canadian gin and tell Miranda she'd like to leave it at her place so that she doesn't have to lug it around every time they get together...and figured it'd be OK - despite Miranda making it a point of telling her she doesn't drink any alcohol. Ever. Miranda takes the bottle from Joy and over-enthusiastically assures her it's no problem to leave her booze here...and Joy happily calls this a big step in their relationship, adding that she's never left gin at a girlfriend's place before.
Picture

"I'll assume it's no problem to keep a stash of my booze in your apartment."

"Since I have no drinking issues I'd like to confess to you, no problem!"

After lounging in bed post coitus, Carrie tells Aidan it's almost time for her writing session with Duncan...and that it'll likely take several hours. Aidan makes a glum face at that, then glumly checks his phone and looks disappointed that Wyatt didn't respond to his text. He glumly explains to Carrie that after his weird freak of a son returned from the Wyoming wilderness camp, he decided he wanted to live with Kathy from now on...and that since there's currently no one living at the Virginia farmhouse, he was free to travel to New York and stay indefinitely. He sourly says that clearly Wyatt loves Kathy more than him, and Carrie clucks sympathetically at that likelihood and offers to cancel the writing session with Duncan so that they can have dinner together. Aidan, who's becoming a bigger horse's ass by the day, perks up at that and is all, "Sounds good to me!"

Seema and Adam are getting it on...and as she loudly climaxes, he decides 'why not start sucking on her finger?' Seema giggles at the finger sucking, then gigglingly tells Adam she doesn't usually giggle after sex. Adam reminds her that he hasn't yet gotten his rocks off, sexily cooing, "But I have all night."

Lisa, meanwhile, is trying to get amorous with Herbert. She mounts him and moans, "Put it in me" - but he declines, on account of he really really has to pee. While he's in the bathroom, he reminds Lisa that they need to add toilet paper to the shopping list, and she reacts by staring dully into space.

Lisa and Marion are taking a lunch break from editing, and Marion bites into a ripe papaya and remarks on how he likes to mix it up with different lunch food from time to time...and then eat it right in front of her as though he were performing cunnilingus. Lisa primly eats her usual salad and counters that she prefers to eat the exact same thing every day, overemphasizing, "I'm fine with what I have." Marion's all, "OK, whatevs" and tells her he's going to a screening this evening to support a friend whose film project was financed by the Obamas, and wants to introduce her (Lisa) to the development executive who's going to be in attendance. He points out that since they really really want to feature Michelle Obama in the sheroes docuseries, it'd be a good opportunity to network with someone who could help make that happen. Lisa mulls that over and mumbles, "Wow.."

Lisa rushes home and tells Herbert and their daughter Gabi that she's cancelling tonight's plans for dinner and Charlotte's gallery exhibit 'cause she has to attend a work thing. Herbert tut tuts her about disappointing Charlotte, but Lisa explains that there's an Obama connection she needs to make at a film screening, then rushes off.

Aidan is deciding what to wear for the gallery exhibit when he suggests to Carrie that they invite Duncan to join them for their pre-exhibit dinner. Carrie hastily nixes that and says she knows nothing about Duncan personally and insists that their friendship is strictly writing-related. Aidan says he finds that hard to believe, and Carrie's like, "I couldn't give the tiniest rat's ass what you believe" and makes it clear that he is not to invite Duncan to dine with them.
Picture

"Let's invite Duncan to dinner."

"I barely even know who that is."

While dining out at a fancy restaurant, Seema and Adam are taken aback when they witness a woman at another table lifting her armpits and then liberally applying deodorant. As they giggle about the lunacy of someone doing that in public, Adam shares that he uses a rock crystal in lieu of deodorant, which prompts Seema to chide him for not being more forthright about that weird habit, adding, "I can't be with someone who does stuff like that." When Adam asks her if she's noticed that he stinks, she admits that he smells pretty darn nice. He, in turn, shares that he loved being all up in her pits last night - but didn't dig the aluminum taste from her mainstream deodorant. Seema firmly shoots back that she's not not going to use deodorant...and when the waitress brings the bill and Seema learns that Adam's last name is Karma, she looks dismayed and tells him he should have been forthright about that too.

Over at the gallery, the visitors are staring in utter mystification [or maybe that was more my reaction] at the exhibit titled Happily Ever After, which features a naked human woman lying face down atop the messy bed near where the "used" condom has been strategically placed. Aidan stands next to Seema and Adam and asks them if they've met Duncan...and, if so, would they please describe what he's like. Adam murmurs, "He's a meanie", an assessment with which Seema heartily agrees.

Miranda tells Carrie and Charlotte that she's in a totally different headspace from where she was a year ago, and lately has been wondering if she "over-corrected" her penchant for guzzling booze daily when she defined herself as an alcoholic instead of just alcohol-ish. Carrie and Charlotte look troubled by the back pedalling and ask her if she's discussed any of this with Joy, and Miranda admits she hasn't - not least 'cause discussing her past habit of over-drinking would be a giant buzzkill and sooooo not sexy. Charlotte suddenly looks unsteady and explains that she's been suffering from vertigo...and continues to stubbornly dig in about it as though it had been firmly established by the SATC/AJLK writers that she's been afflicted with the condition for years.
Picture

"I've decided that I'm more alcohol-ish than alcohol-ic."

"Sounds about as reasonable as me pretending to suddenly have vertigo."

Patti LuPone tells the gallery owner she'd like to buy Guiseppe a large scale art piece for his apartment - but Guiseppe chimes in and tells her it's not necessary, not least 'cause he's always over at Anthony's place. Anthony then wanders over, which prompts Patti LuPone to steer the gallery owner across the room for a more private discussion. Antony tells Guiseppe it's painfully obvious that his mother wants him dead, and Guiseppe suggests to Anthony that he cook dinner for his mom and then dine together so they can enjoy some one-on-one quality time.

Joy hands Miranda her glass of champagne and breezily asks her to hold onto it for a moment...and when Miranda stares at it and looks tempted to take a sip, an alarmed looking Charlotte cries out, "Miranda! Nooooo!" and starts tottering across the gallery. In the process, she suffers another vertigo attack and stumbles onto the Happily Ever After exhibit and lands beside the startled naked woman and gets the "used" condom stuck on her arm in the process. Seems like this vertigo subplot took a very long road to reach a scenario/punchline that landed like a lead balloon.

Lisa and Marion are enjoying the film screening when their knees touch. A wigged out Lisa abruptly declares, "I have to leave!" and rushes out of the theater and immediately phones Charlotte to report that her attraction to Marion has officially gone beyond just flirking. A few seconds later, Marion calls to tell Lisa he's talking to the development executive who knows the Obamas, then hands her the phone...and Lisa perks up and gives the woman a brief rundown of her never-ending sheroes docuseries.

Miranda is at home, working on her computer while watching Bi-Bingo. She gets up and wanders into her kitchen, opens the cabinet, and stares longingly at Joy's bottle of gin. She attempts to distract herself with a couple of cookies - but isn't able to resist grabbing the bottle of gin, pouring a small amount into a glass, and coming dangerously close to guzzling it. She suddenly stops herself and pours it down the sink, then decides she can't handle the temptation of having a full bottle of gin in her apartment. She takes it into the hallway and drops it down the garbage chute, where we hear it smash into pieces [and stupidly creating a needless hazard for the building's maintenance/sanitation staff].

Carrie narrates the latest from her novel about "the woman", who has apparently found happiness once again. She then voice-overs something about likening this happiness to a red bird that appears in the garden, blah blah...and then the camera pans over to her bedroom, where she's contentedly canoodling with Aidan.

"The woman is the most fascinating woman in the history of women."

"They Wanna Have Fun"
Original airdate: 7/10/2025

Episode summary: Carrie hosts a birthday party for Charlotte in an effort to cheer her up as she copes with Harry's cancer. Guiseppe's mother meets Anthony and is less than impressed. Adam makes a move on Seema.
Recap: Carrie stands in Duncan's doorway and grumbles, "I hate you", then explains that she just finished reading his first chapter of the Margaret Thatcher bio and found it to be "thrilling, polished, and ready to publish". As Duncan looks visibly relieved by her positive feedback, Carrie agonizes, "How am I supposed to hand you my work-in-progress now?" as she hands over what looks like a ridiculously ginormous manuscript.

Lily is on her phone when she suddenly shrieks in horror...and when Charlotte rushes into her bedroom to ask whassup, Lily glumly explains that Diego just broke up with her via a text message. Charlotte's all, "Oh no.." and winces faux sympathetically [or maybe that was more what my reaction would be].

Later at Hotfellas, Charlotte reports on Lily's breakup to Carrie and Miranda - just as Anthony wanders over to express his nervousness about the imminent arrival (from Rome) of Guiseppe's mother. After he wanders off, Charlotte wails that with everything currently on her plate, the last thing she needs is her "easy one" to be suffering an emotional breakdown. A bemused Miranda asks what exactly she has on her plate...and as Charlotte looks momentarily panicked, Carrie interjects to steer the conversation to the new ring she just purchased. While that's happening, Guiseppe and his mother (Patti LuPone) enter the bakery. Guiseppe introduces Patti LuPone to the AJLT gals, to whom she admits that she was born in Buffalo and that her phony sounding Italian accent is a needless affectation [the writers somehow thought would be a source of amusement to viewers]. She spots a hunky Hotfellas clerk and looks hopeful as she asks Guiseppe if that's his boyfriend - just as Anthony wanders over with a large plant obscuring his view, grumbling about the stress of having to impress his boyfriend's mother. When he puts the plant down and sees that both Guiseppe and his mother have arrived and are standing in the middle of his bakery, Patti LuPone gives him an unimpressed once over and mocks his height...and Anthony is forced to concede that he has unwittingly (or maybe somewhat wittingly) made a very bad first impression.

While strolling down the street, Carrie tells Miranda she'd like to bring some fun into Charlotte's life by hosting a birthday party for her next week. Miranda asks whassup with Charlotte needing extra fun, then immediately assumes that she and/or someone in her family is sick. Carrie scrambles to throw Miranda off the scent of Harry's cancer by fibbing that Mr. Burton is gravely ill with an incurable dog tumor, and warns that she's not to say a word to Charlotte about it. Miranda looks like she buys that story and agrees that, yep, Charlotte definitely deserves a party in her honor.

The financially strapped Seema has downgraded the quality of her eyelash care and is getting extensions at the local branch of Lattes and Lashes, which soon proves to be an unsanitary dump.

Miranda is in her new apartment, happily hanging out with Joy. She invites Joy to be her plus one at Charlotte's upcoming birthday party, then blabs that the party is intended to lift Charlotte's spirits 'cause her dog has an incurable tumor. Joy looks sad at the prospect of anyone losing their beloved pet and agrees to accompany her to the party.

Anthony calls Carrie to lament about what a nasty person Patti LuPone is...and Carrie argues that she actually found Guiseppe's mom to be rather endearing, and in fact is about to meet up with her for lunch. Anthony perks up at that tidbit and asks Carrie if she wouldn't mind putting in a good word for him, and Carrie half-heartedly promises to do her best.

Over lunch, Patti LuPone regales Carrie with the tale of how she fell in love with Guiseppe's father (Alexander), who was nearly thirty years her senior. She adds that his teenage children (from a previous marriage) hated her intensely..and Carrie shares that she too is going through the same thing with Aidan's weird son. Patti LuPone advises, "Don't waste years trying to be who you think they'll accept", then points out that shit always gets complicated whenever a new love enters an established dynamic. Carrie chews on those words of wisdom for a few seconds, then dutifully talks up Anthony by describing him as loving and authentic. This prompts Patti LuPone to wonder aloud if perhaps she misjudged her son's vertically challenged boyfriend.

"Then you're in good company. Or bad company, as the case may be."

Charlotte is at a designer boutique, shopping for a sorry you got dumped gift for Lily, when she happens to run into Harry. She calls out his name, and he looks freaked by the sight of her and tries to rush off...and when she races after him, she's startled to see that he's in the company of an attractive blonde woman (Bonnie). Harry sheepishly tells Charlotte he never intended for the two of them to ever meet, then introduces Bonnie, aka his personal shopper. As Charlotte looks visibly relieved by the personal shopper part of the intro, Bonnie politely greets Charlotte and compliments the red blouse she's wearing (which she personally selected), then gushes about Harry's bravery at this trying time. After she sashays off, Harry admits to a suspicious looking Charlotte that, yep, he did confide in Bonnie about his prostate cancer 'cause it was driving him crazy not to tell anyone. Charlotte argues that she too should be allowed to confide in her friends - but Harry points out that it's not comparable, 'cause Bonnie isn't actually part of their personal lives.

Seema arrives at Carrie's townhouse mansion sporting a badly damaged eyelash, and explains to Carrie that her cheap lash extensions didn't take. The two then head over to the kitchen, where Adam is languishing while on a break from landscaping. Carrie invites both Seema and Adam to Charlotte's upcoming birthday party...and Adam looks enthused by attending anything with Seema present, then gets all in her personal space and flirtily removes part of her deteriorating fake eyelash. After he heads back to his landscaping, Carrie raises an eyebrow at their smittenness, which a blushing Seema casually brushes off.

Party day! As a team of workers sets up party chairs in Carrie's townhouse mansion, Miranda arrives early wearing a silver jumpsuit and carrying pink balloons. Brady follows her carrying a karaoke machine, which Miranda assures Carrie will generate a whole lot of fun for Charlotte's party.

Carrie heads downstairs to apologize to Duncan in advance for the noise nuisance of her soon-to-launch karaoke party...and invites him to join the festivities. Duncan informs her that he just finished reading her first chapter and was utterly enthralled by the triumphs and travails of "the woman". He then assures Carrie that he actually enjoys karaoke and would be delighted to drop by.

As the caterer arrives at the mansion townhouse, Miranda clears off space on the kitchen counter and comes across Carrie's first chapter of her "the woman" novel and nosily reads the first page.

Lily insists she's far too depressed to attend the party - but Rock tells her she needs to peel herself off the bed and show up for their mother, who they've heard privately sobbing about something. When Lily insists that she can't/won't, Rock tears off the bedspread and orders her to get out of the fucking bed. Kudos to you, Rock.

Party time! Miranda is taking several shots of Charlotte holding Mr. Burton, who looks festive and adorable in his party hat. Charlotte suggests taking some group shots with her family members - but Lily has dramatically stretched herself atop a nearby couch and complains that she's still too depressed to show an ounce of decorum or respect towards the party's host and/or the other guests.

"Let's take a family photo."

"I would if only I could manoeuvre myself upright."

When Joy arrives at the party, Miranda ushers her over to Charlotte and Mr. Burton...and Joy fusses over the pooch and waxes on about how important it is to spend every moment she has left with him. As Charlotte stares back at her in confusion, Miranda nervously explains, "She's a real dog person."

Lisa arrives with Herbert and their son Henry, who expresses great excitement about the karaoke machine. In the next scene he's enthusiastically crooning for the partygoers...and while that's happening, Bitsy Von Muffling arrives and wishes Charlotte a happy birthday.

Anthony, Guiseppe, and Patti LuPone arrive at the townhouse mansion - just as Miranda forcibly grabs the microphone from Henry to prevent him from performing a third song. She announces that she'd like to belt out Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and urges her gal pals to join her - but neither Carrie nor Charlotte look interested in publicly embarrassing themselves. When Miranda tries to enlist Lily, she snappishly retorts that she just wants to be left alone and flees the room. Miranda temporarily throws in the towel on providing karaoke entertainment and decides it'd be fun for everyone to stand around idly and watch Charlotte open her gifts.

Seema arrives at the party wearing an eyepatch and sassily tells Adam she blames him for her eye infection from when he stuck his dirty finger in her eye while the two were exchanging flirty banter in Carrie's kitchen earlier.

Duncan arrives and suggests to Carrie that they sneak off to the back terrace so that he can smoke a cigarette, and she happily follows him out.

Patti LuPone admonishes Anthony for sexually exploiting his well-endowed Hotfellas employees by forcing them to wear ultra skimpy uniforms, and Anthony nervously mumbles that it's just a fun gimmick to attract ogling customers...then looks all hangdog as he admits how much he really really wants her to like him. She stares at him curiously while murmuring, "Interesting.." [Is it though?]

Out on the terrace, Duncan tells Carrie that her flawlessly written chapter about "the woman" transported him to 1800s New York, and wankingly adds that she's definitely onto something magnificent with this genre.

When Joy reveals to Miranda that she gifted Charlotte a box of special dog treats appropriate for a dog with an incurable tumor, Miranda gasps and says she wasn't supposed to reveal Mr. Burton's condition to anyone. Joy's like, "Er, you might have mentioned that before now" [right?], then rushes over to rescind her gift before Charlotte can unwrap it. She weakly explains to Charlotte that she accidentally brought the wrong present.

Lela (Charlotte's brash gallery colleague) belts out a karaoke-fuelled song and passes it off as her personal birthday gift to Charlotte.

Miranda chats with Harry about how devastated Charlotte will be when the unthinkable happens...so then Harry proceeds to pull Charlotte aside and ask her if she told Miranda about his prostate cancer. She assures him she hasn't said a word about it to Miranda.

Bitsy Von Muffling takes over the karaoke entertaining and ogles Guiseppe as she convinces him to join her in a flirty duet.

Charlotte pulls Carrie aside and asks her if she blabbed to Miranda about Harry's prostate cancer. Carrie assures her she didn't - but does explain that when Miranda was getting close to guessing the truth about someone in her family being sick, she made up a fib about Mr. Burton suffering from an incurable dog tumor. Charlotte gasps in horror at that prospect and mutters, "That's almost worse" to a stunned looking Carrie.

Patti LuPone glares disapprovingly at Bitsy's brazen ogling of Guiseppe and tells Anthony she considers it "tragic" when a person lusts after someone who's much younger [which, by her own admission, would include her late husband]. Anthony declines to share what he thinks about that sentiment and stalks off.

Charlotte explains to Harry that Miranda thinks Mr. Burton has an incurable dog tumor, which prompts Harry to wince and remark, "That's almost worse for you." Lol. Charlotte then confesses that she couldn't stop herself from confiding his condition in Carrie, 'cause keeping it to herself was driving her nuts.
Picture

"Let's be grateful that our dog isn't the one suffering from cancer."

"That would be a tragedy of incalculable magnitude."

Harry gathers Carrie, Miranda, and Lisa in the kitchen and openly tells them he has prostate cancer. As they look alarmed and gasp, "OMG!", he assures them that the disease has been caught early, and that after his surgery next week, he's expected to make a full recovery. He sheepishly calls it a tragedy that he asked his wife to keep such serious news a secret from her best friends...and that he's A-OK with them freely talking about it. Charlotte thanks him for letting the cat out of the bag and calls it the "best birthday gift ever" before leaning in for a smooch.

Adam flirtily tells Seema he broke up with his yoga loving girlfriend after he smelled her (Seema's) perfume for the first time. [Seems like a weirdly rash thing to do, but OK.] Seema stares back at him in stunned silence, then gets to her feet to unsteadily fetch herself another drink.

When Guiseppe finally finishes his karaoke number with Bitsy, Patti LuPone informs him that she intends to stay in New York for another week...and also that she really really wants to leave this lame party asap.

Seema tells Carrie she's somewhat panicked about Adam being available and clearly very interested in her - just as Adam picks up the karaoke microphone and starts singing Bette Davis Eyes as he stares intensely at her from across the room. Yeesh.

Later, Seema and Adam are smooching in the back seat of a cab on their way home from the party.

While hanging in the kitchen, Carrie tells Miranda she loooooved meeting Joy, so Miranda happily describes their budding romance as effortless. She then remarks on how much fun she (Carrie) was having with Duncan and couldn't help but catch a vibe there, and Carrie instantly prickles and bitchily reminds her that she's in a relationship with Aidan. When Miranda's like, "OK then, I'll just stop talking now", Carrie refuses to let the topic go...and so Miranda points out that she seems to be working overtime keeping things afloat with the monster that Aidan has become in this spin-off. Carrie rolls her eyes and caustically retorts that not all relationships are effortless, and that her coupling with Joy can't be compared to her and Aidan, with whom she claims "we're over twenty years in". Miranda somehow refrains from pointing out that she only dated Aidan for, at most, two years during the full run of Sex and the City...and that it's wholly misleading to attribute the passage of time between their hookups to the length of the relationship. Miranda comes right out and asks her if the first sentence of her book - "the woman wondered what she had gotten herself into" - is a red flag about her dysfunction with Aidan, and Carrie angrily insists that it's merely a piece of fiction she's currently writing. As Miranda breathes a sigh of faux relief that her life isn't mirroring that of "the woman", Brady ambles into the kitchen to tell Carrie he took out the trash. Carrie thanks him and hugs him bye, and assures Miranda that their friendship is still on stable ground [despite her increasingly yucky habit of treating Miranda like her personal punching bag].

After everyone has gone home for the night, Carrie finds little Shoo curled up in a chair. She picks up the kitty and cuddles her in her lap while nonsensically voice-overing, "The woman held onto what she knew to be true."

Carrie delights in guilting Aidan for smashing her rainbow-generating antique glass

"Silent Mode"
Original airdate: 7/3/2025

Episode summary: Lisa is incommunicado in her editing studio when her father suffers a stroke and dies. Aidan confesses to Carrie that he slept with his ex-wife. Seema helps Miranda find a new apartment.
Recap: As it rains heavily in Gramercy Park, Duncan and Carrie are dining together on mutton stew...and Carrie clearly isn't enjoying her downstairs neighbor's home cooking, which she wryly describes as "very muttony". Duncan tells her he wanted them to break bread so he could ask a favor: would she mind reading the draft of his first chapter of his new Margaret Thatcher biography? When he explains that he needs "an outside female eye", Carrie says she'd be happy to, as long as he'd be willing to read her first chapter about an unnamed woman living in New York in the 1800s...and to lower his expectations to the lowest possible level.

Later, Carrie calls Aidan and tells him about the yucky mutton stew that Duncan cooked for them, then has to explain who Duncan is. Aidan excitedly informs her that he's free to fly to New York, 'cause his troubled spawn Wyatt took the initiative and signed up for a wilderness program in Wyoming, and will be out of everyone's hair for an entire week. Hurray! Aidan happily describes this is a breakthrough that will surely change the family dynamic for the better [except: not].

Miranda, who's been crashing at Joy's place, wakes up in Joy's bed to the sight of her two Whippets, who are staring down at her with looks of disdain. When Joy brings her a cup of coffee, Miranda informs her that Seema may have found her an apartment, and Joy's like, "Hallelujah" ... 'cause it looks as though she likes living with Miranda about as much as Carrie did. Miranda then tells her she'd like to take the next step in their relationship and introduce her to Brady.

Charlotte is about to enter the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center when she happens to run into Bitsy Von Muffling. Charlotte fibs that she's not here 'cause she knows anyone with cancer - but rather to volunteer to help the cancer-afflicted. When she tells Bitsy she'll likely see her at the Tiffany & Co. tea event later this episode, Bitsy's all, "The what?" and looks miffed that she didn't receive an invitation.

Seema is playing a sad song on her iPhone while she's being chauffeured in her Mercedes for the last time. She sadly tells her driver she can no longer afford the lease - but promises that as soon as The Patel Group is up and running, she'll reinstate him.

Seema shows Miranda what looks like a pretty spectacular apartment, and describes it as a whisper listing that hasn't yet been made public. Miranda glances around the gorgeous place and decides it's perfect - until Seema informs her that the sellers want $150,000 over the asking price. Miranda looks taken aback by that and says it goes against her principles to pay any amount of money over the asking price, considering that Manhattan real estate is already so ridiculously expensive. An annoyed Seema warns that this is the best deal she's ever going to find in her desired neighborhood and price range - but Miranda orders her to find a place that's just as perfect and doesn't have a seller who wants extra.
Picture

"Paying more than the asking price goes against my strongly-felt principles."

Picture

"Then I'd suggest suspending them until after you sign the paperwork."

While leaving the Cancer Center, Harry recaps to Charlotte that his two choices for treating his prostate cancer are: radiation or surgery. He tells her he's carefully weighed each option and would prefer to have the surgery and risk possible urinary issues...and Charlotte assures him that everything - including the state of his urethra - is going to going to be totally A-OK. Harry stares at her lovingly and coos, "I love you, Pollyanna", and Charlotte reciprocates the sentiment as the two stroll off together.

Over at the very busy Hotfellas bakery, an older woman is at the front of the line, brazenly staring at Guiseppe's mammoth crotch, while Carrie gives Anthony a big kudos for running such a popular business. She then heads over to her table, where Miranda and Charlotte are seated...and they're soon joined by Seema, who informs Miranda that she found another great apartment for her to look at. She specifies that it's a condominium with a no pet policy, and Miranda looks concerned about the no pet thing 'cause of how attached Joy is to her Whippets. Seema warns that there's no other option nearly as great - unless she's willing to bite the bullet and pay over the asking price on the whisper listing.

Over at Documentary Central, Lisa and Marion are working on her never-ending sheroes docuseries. When she gets a call from Chauncey, she grumbles that her husband's campaign manager has been a huge pest all week, and revolts by putting her phone on silent mode.

Aidan arrives at Carrie's townhouse mansion and thinks it'd be cute to throw pebbles at her French doors. One of the pebbles smashes through the window and shatters the glass, and the unexpected shock prompts Carrie to shriek while Aidan moans, "Fuuuuuuck.."

As Aidan surveys the damage, Carrie lays it on thick about how much carnage her windows have had to survive since 1863. Aidan promises to replace the glass - but Carrie passively aggressively points out that the irreplaceable glass was very old, fragile, and made rainbows whenever the sun hit it at a certain angle. Aidan complains, "You're making me feel worse", and Carrie's all, "Well d'yuh that's kind of the point" and says that any new glass could never be the same as the original. Aidan grumbles that nothing is going his way, then sourly informs Carrie that Wyatt "wouldn't get on the fucking airplane" after he suddenly decided he didn't want to hang in the Wyoming wilderness for an entire week. He adds that his troubled son's change of heart prompted Kathy to cry during the entire drive back to the farm.

Lisa is gushing to Marion about his superior editing skills [which, by the looks of it, seem pretty run-of-the-mill], and he chuckles about how his wife would be impressed by the compliment, since apparently she mostly considers him clueless. Lisa looks visibly surprised to learn that he's married, and he explains that he prefers to keep work separate from his personal life. A few seconds later, a somber looking Herbert arrives at the studio and tells Lisa he needs a minute with her...and after Marion excuses himself, Herbert tells his wife he's been trying to reach her all afternoon 'cause her father suffered a stroke. Lisa tells him she put her phone on silent mode so she could focus on editing, and assumes that her father is alive and in a hospital being treated. Herbert tells her the old man already expired, and a stunned Lisa's all, "Noooo noooo.." and bursts into tears as she collapses into Herbert's arms.

Um, it's worth mentioning here that - in in the aftermath of Big's unexpected death in Season 1, Episode 2 - Lisa tells Charlotte not to worry about forgetting that they had had lunch plans 'cause she experienced similar emotions when her father died the previous year:
Charlotte: "It just completely flew out of my head. This whole thing has just been a horrible shock. I'm just a mess. I could barely keep it together in front of the girls just now."

Lisa: "I was the exact same way when I lost my dad last year. I could see my rings literally shaking on my hands while I was trying to be so strong for them."
Picture

"Your dad had a stroke and died."

Picture

"What? Again?"

Lisa goes home to her closet office and calls Charlotte to deliver the sad news about the second death of her father...who the doctors had described as being in "amazing shape" despite his advanced age. She laments putting her phone on silent mode and not being reachable 'cause she was so busy wanking Marion as they edited her sheroes documentary, so Charlotte points out that it's "work that he raised you to do". Lisa thanks her for the kind words, then remarks on all of the emails she needs to answer. As she glances at her inbox, she suddenly spots an e-invitation from Lucille Highwater (aka the general manager of her father's theater) inviting her to his funeral. She shrieks, "Who does she think she is?!" and tells Charlotte she has to go 'cause she has an email of her own to send.

Charlotte heads over to the living room, where Harry is sitting with Mr. Burton and watching a baseball game. Charlotte coos at Harry about how much she looooooves him, then informs him that Lisa's father died suddenly. Harry's all, "Suddenly? The dude was ninety years old." Charlotte argues that his doctor had declared him to be in perfect health, and Harry quickly gets that her sudden angst is about him and his current bout with prostate cancer. Charlotte wails about how they neeeeed to enjoy every millisecond of their lives, and Harry reminds her that the last time they discussed his health issues, she had confidently assured him that everything was going to be A-OK. He says he's very sorry about Lisa's father passing away, then pleads, "Can I please have my Pollyanna back?" Charlotte agrees that, yes, she'll revert back to the most optimistic version of herself, then once again professes her deep love for him before letting him get back to his baseball game.

That evening at the mansion, Aidan is on the computer, searching for available vintage window glass in places like Scranton (Pennsylvania). He asks Carrie if she'd like to tag along on the errand, but she declines and tells him she's attending a tea at Tiffany & Co. tomorrow...then half-heartedly insists that regular glass will be just fine. She urges him to come to bed now, but he tells her he wants to spend more time scouring the Internet for rainbow-generating antique glass.

The next morning, Aidan leaves Carrie a post-it telling her he's gone to Scranton to go glass shopping.

After arriving at Tiffany & Co. for the tea event, Carrie tells Charlotte that Aidan smashed a window in her French door...and that she exacerbated the situation by going on and on about how that kind of glass is utterly irreplaceable. Charlotte tearfully shares that Lisa's father died yesterday, and Carrie clucks sympathetically and says she'd like to pay her respects to Lisa by attending the funeral. A few seconds later, Bitsy Von Muffling arrives and happily tells Charlotte and Carrie that she found her invitation to this event in her spam folder, and that she was soooooo relieved she hadn't fallen off the A-list. Charlotte then deflates this delusion when she mentions some upcoming boat party that Bitsy wasn't made aware of. Oops.

Lisa meets up with Lucille Highwater at a diner and brashly tells her she was quite taken aback when she received an invitation to her own father's funeral...which Lucille prefers to think of as a homegoing. She reminds Lisa that she's been her father's theater manager for twenty years, and that the old guy..
  • Gifted her a red Michael Kors purse that, for whatever reason, she has placed atop the table in the diner and feels the need to make a big deal about
  • Always insisted that she (Lisa) was far too busy with her slow-moving filmmaking career to be bothered with anything mundane

Lucille tells Lisa she just assumed that doing any kind of homegoing planning would be an imposition for a busy career woman such as herself - but Lisa haughtily makes it clear that overseeing the arrangements for her father's homegoing is most definitely not a bother.
Picture

"My red purse and I feel that I'm the best person to plan your father's final homegoing."

Picture

"My green purse and I have a far different opinion."

While enjoying a bite to eat at an outdoor cafe (so that Joy's dogs can accompany them on the outing), Joy tells Miranda that she's always been on the fence about hooking up with women who have children...which is probably why she never had a serious girlfriend who had birthed anyone. Miranda brightens and asks if this means she's her girlfriend, and Joy confirms she is, and quips that she wouldn't be tormenting herself in this way for a casual hookup. A few seconds later, Brady ambles over...and he politely greets Joy when Miranda introduces them, then gushes over the cuteness of her Whippets. A touched looking Joy tells Miranda, "I'm off the fence." [Even though she could have stayed on it, given that Brady is a full grown adult and resides with Steve.]

Lisa and Lucille agree that the homegoing should take place at the theater - but Lisa emphasizes that she wants it to be a simple, respectful affair. Lucille bitchily tells her she certainly has a lot of opinions for a daughter who was too busy editing to say goodbye to her father on his last day on earth...then acknowledges that she just crossed a line she prolly shouldn't have.

Carrie returns home, where a troubled looking Aidan is staring at all the vintage doors he bought back from Scranton. He glumly tells Carrie that none of the window glass makes a rainbow...then looks tortured as he confesses that he slept with Kathy the day Wyatt reneged on traveling to Wyoming. He explains that it happened 'cause they were both trying to comfort one another...but, in their defence, agree it was a mistake that won't ever be repeated. Carrie chews on that interesting development for a few seconds, then just kind of shrugs and murmurs, "I kind of understand." Aidan agonizes about betraying her - but she's all, "Meh" about it, and reminds him that they never really committed to not sleeping with other people while they wait out Wyatt's terrible teens. Aidan looks surprised by that and says he doesn't recall that being part of the ground rules, and Carrie's like, "Blah blah...it doesn't much matter, 'cause I'm going to dump you pretty soon and hit the sheets with Duncan."

Later, Carrie and Aidan are in bed together, amorously smooching.

Lisa and her black attired family solemnly exit their apartment building and climb into the series of cars that are waiting to ferry them to the theater. Seema arrives at the theater via subway and quickly meets up with Anthony, Guiseppe, Miranda, Harry and Charlotte...and then Carrie saunters over with Aidan, who had to scramble for something funeral appropriate to wear...and, despite the endless number of clothing store options in Manhattan, was somehow only able to find a suit that's several sizes too small for his tall frame. It remains unclear why Aidan felt it necessary to even attend the funeral, given that he's never even had a conversation with Lisa (at least one that I can recall).

Miranda sits next to Seema and tells her she's totes OK offering $150,000 over asking for the whisper listing apartment. When Seema asks her what brought about this change of heart, she beams while punning, "I think it'll bring me more Joy." Meanwhile, Aidan's tiny pants split right down the front, and he and Carrie giggle at the sight of his unconcealed pecker...'cause I guess the pants were too tight for him to put on underwear.

Lucille opens the Pippin-inspired homegoing with a musical performance...and then that leads into a second performance. Lisa is eventually summoned on stage to deliver a eulogy - but all she can do is lament how sad she is that she wasn't at her father's side when he passed. Herbert steps in and tries to lighten the mood by remarking on how familiar he is with his father-in-law's theater, 'cause Lisa used to drag him to every damn production.

After the homegoing, Herbert's curmudgeonly mother points out to Lisa that it's very possible her father's spirit didn't actually want her present during his final hours, 'cause he much preferred her to remember him as he was. She then hands Lisa a Belgian lace handkerchief to dab at her tears. Inside the theater, Aidan and Carrie wait for everyone to file out before they get up and conceal Aidan's embarrassing wardrobe malfunction.

The next day, Aidan canoodles Carrie as she lays in bed and promises to call as soon as he gets to Virginia.

Aidan heads down to the kitchen and is making himself a cup of coffee when Duncan drops by to deliver Chapter 1 of his Margaret Thatcher bio for Carrie to read. Aidan promises to pass it along while looking visibly suspicious of his girlfriend's charismatic neighbor.

"Hi there. I'm your soon-to-be replacement."

Picture

"I guess I have that coming."

Later, Carrie gets out of bed and heads downstairs. She sees Duncan's chapter waiting for her atop the dining room table and stares down at it contemplatively.

Carrie is shopping in a drugstore when she happens to run into Charlotte, who's buying male Depends. When she asks whassup with her in the Depends aisle, Charlotte tears up and blurts out that Harry has prostate cancer...and that he doesn't want anyone to know. Carrie assures her she can tell her anything and that she won't tell a soul, so Charlotte reveals that the doctors caught the cancer early - but she still can't stop herself from fearing that her beloved is going to die. She then starts sobbing while Carrie envelops her in a comforting hug.

Harry quickly realizes there's no glam in glamping

"Under the Table"
Original airdate: 5/26/2025

Episode summary: Harry informs Charlotte that he's been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Carrie clashes with her downstairs neighbor. Seema attempts to start up her own real estate firm.
Recap: Carrie looks out her window and voice-overs about "the woman" noticing that someone new has arrived at her townhouse mansion...while, in present day Manhattan, we see that a British man wearing tweed and carrying a leather book bag is letting himself through the gate and heading towards the ground floor apartment (beneath Carrie's townhouse). After that, we get a montage of Carrie wandering through her massive townhouse wearing stiletto heels [for some unfathomable reason], which looks to be extremely noisy and irritating for her downstairs neighbor.

Later, the neighbor pounds on Carrie's kitchen door and demands to know, for the love of all that is holy, why she finds it necessary to walk around her house in clickety-clackety heels, and then wails, "Have you no rugs? My God!" Lol..  Carrie tells him she hasn't yet found the right kind of rugs, then introduces herself...and so he grumblingly introduces himself as Duncan Reeves and snarkishly tells her he much preferred the previous homeowner, who was as quiet as a mouse. Carrie wryly points out that she was so quiet 'cause she was bedridden, then in defence of herself says she's actually a very good neighbor who doesn't host loud parties or bowl on her expansive wooden floors. Duncan looks unamused and tells her he neeeeeeds to be able to sleep during the day 'cause he's typically up all night working. When he begs her to remove her heels whenever she's ambling on the floor above him, she unhelpfully chortles, "Now you've gone too far."

Later, while lunching out with Miranda, Seema, and Charlotte, Carrie reports, "My downstairs neighbor haaaaaates me", which prompts Miranda to share that her Airbnb neighbor constantly blasts heavy metal music. A peeved looking Carrie asks, "What does that have to do with me?" and says she's not playing any type of loud head-banging music...so Miranda hastily explains that she was merely agreeing with her that bad neighbors are the worst, then urges Carrie to continue her rant. When Carrie wonders aloud where this Duncan Reeves came from, Seema tells her [she knows from making the house sale that] he's a Brit from London who spends six months of the year in New York...and both Charlotte and Miranda look visibly impressed that Carrie is neighbors with such a prolific writer. Carrie laments having to live above an insane man half the year...and when Charlotte asks exactly what makes him insane, Carrie says he requested that she take off her heels while aimlessly roaming around her townhome mansion. Charlotte points out that it's a helluva lot more sanitary to not wear outdoor footwear indoors - but Carrie nonsensically insists that she has "a woman's right to shoes". Miranda coos about how much she looooves Duncan Reeves's meaty biographies, says she's been waiting years for him to finish his next book, and barks, "Take your damn shoes off" - but Carrie clings onto the notion that she somehow neeeeeeds to walk around her enormous townhouse with very high heels on her feet.

"If you don't mind, I'd like to throw in a quick anecdote about something going on in my life."

"Actually, I do mind."

While strolling down the street, Carrie tells Charlotte she's A-OK with where she and Aidan left things after her horrendous visit to Virginia...and that it's a relief not to have to worry so much how she's supposed to manage their long distance relationship. She adds that even if Aidan can't be her everyday fella, there's still a strong element of romance there...and Charlotte says she can't fully relate to that, 'cause of how much she looooooves having Harry in her life every day and wouldn't want to be parted from him for any length of time.

Miranda is in her Airbnb, getting some work done, when her neighbor starts blasting his heavy metal music again. Miranda reacts by scribbling an angry letter and slipping it under his door...and a few seconds later, the music abruptly stops. Miranda whispers, "Thank you" and resumes her work.

While out for an evening stroll with Mr. Burton, Harry tells Charlotte he needs to tell her something important, then recaps how he..
  1. Peed himself when they were out clubbing two episodes ago
  2. Couldn't get it up while trying to get it on with her one episode ago

He decided to investigate this as a potential medical issue...and it turns out he has prostate cancer. As Charlotte starts to freak out, Harry assures her it's been caught early, and that this type of cancer has a 98% survival rate. He then asks her to keep this news a secret...meaning he doesn't want her to tell the kids or any of their friends 'cause he'd rather not be regarded as "the cancer guy". Charlotte tells him she'd be more than happy to quit her gallery job to nurse him back to health, and also to cancel their glamping plans this weekend - but Harry's like, "No and no" and says he wants them to continue living their lives as if everything is perfectly normal.

Lisa tells Herbert that on Friday she won't be back in New York (from Atlanta) until 4pm, so he's going to have to take the kids to Governor's Island to get them settled in for their glamping weekend with the Goldenblatts. Herbert stares at her confusedly and says he has no idea what in blazes she's talking about, and that he can't glamp this weekend 'cause he has a bunch of campaign stuff he needs to do. Lisa's all, "I couldn't care less about your campaign stuff" and insists he get the kids settled into their luxury tent while she's off doing whatever in Atlanta.

Seema is at the bank, applying for a loan so she can start up her own real estate business. The bank lady (Linda) warns that, since she has no collateral, she'll have to run the loan request by her boss...then murmurs, "He's just awful." They often are, Linda. They often are.

Carrie drops by Duncan's place to give him a proper Welcome Wagon type visit, and presents him with a basket full of goodies. She tells him that everything in the basket has been locally sourced from their neighbourhood, and he remarks that he has zero time to do any real exploring 'cause he's such a busy writer. Carrie pretends to be surprised by that revelation and tells him that she's a former raunch columnist who's been trying to pass herself off as a literary author for years - but one who sleeps at night and needlessly walks around her apartment in heels during the day. Duncan looks unamused by the quip, then tells her that he too has a gift...and hands her a small Amazon package that he insists will "enormously help our situation". When Carrie opens the package, she's less than thrilled at the pair of pink booty slippers inside. She tells Duncan that she's allergic to "whatever this is" ... and that she appreciates the thought, but doesn't think she's actually capable of movement that doesn't entail having to totter around in ridiculously high stilettos. She does promise to buy a thick rug and do her best to no longer disturb him, and Duncan looks satisfied enough with that and then asks whassup with the courtyard being ripped up. Carrie explains that it was a rat's nest that had to be exterminated, and that she hired a landscaper to transform it into a beautiful outdoor space they can both enjoy.

"I thought you might like something soft and comfortable on your feet."

"Do they come with stiletto heels?"

Rock and Lily tell Charlotte they have zero interest in going glamping this weekend, and Charlotte's all, "Tough shit" and insists they participate in this all-important family activity. Lily argues that she has plans with her poly-sexual squeeze Diego, who typically splits his weekends between her and (his boyfriend) Eric...and complains that if she's not there, it puts her at a disadvantage. Charlotte makes it clear that there's not a shit tiny enough to give about how low she's debasing herself with this guy [sorry, no - that was me, projecting], and tells Lily in no uncertain terms that she is going glamping this weekend 'cause it means a lot to her father.

Carrie is on the phone with Miranda, telling her about the fugly slippers Duncan gifted her...and Miranda blurts out, "No fucking way!", then explains that she just got a message from the Airbnb owner to tell her he can't do anything about her heavy metal music playing neighbor 'cause he's not supposed to be Airbnb-ing his apartment. Carrie chastises her for reading text messages while talking to her on the phone, then invites her to bunk at her townhouse mansion until such time as she finds a permanent home. Miranda's like, "Mmm...I dunno" 'cause of how much she loooooves having her own personal space, then asks Carrie if Seema could find her a new home. Carrie nixes that and says she doesn't like to mix business with friendships, which I found to be asinine, since I'm sure that newly independent Seema would be delighted by the opportunity to earn a commission. When the Airbnb neighbor starts up with his heavy metal music again, Miranda delivers another sternly worded note under his door...and he responds by flinging his door open and standing fully naked in the doorway while waving around a meat cleaver. The furious weirdo warns Miranda that if she puts another note under his door he'll cut her to pieces. Miranda reacts by screaming in terror...and the next day arrives at Carrie's townhouse mansion with her belongings. Soon after that, a delivery truck pulls up with the dining table Carrie had been stalking online. She's thrilled when she learns that the purchase was made by Aidan Shaw...and the delivery guy confirms that, yep, it's a very romantic gesture. A few seconds later, Duncan arrives...and Miranda gets all fan girl and gushes about what a huge admirer she is of his work. She asks him if he wouldn't mind signing her copy of his Churchill bio, and he tells her he'd be delighted.

Lisa and Marion have just landed in New York. When Lisa pushes her way to get off the plane quickly, Marion cheekily informs the other passengers that she has an emergency glamping outing to get to.

Over on Governor's Island, Lisa arrives and greets her family and the York-Goldenblatts. Lily grumbles that this glamping trip is a hostage situation, while Harry complains that he's being targeted by giant mosquitoes. When Herbert suggests they make s'mores, he soon realizes they can't do that 'cause Lisa forgot to bring the most necessary ingredient: chocolate. Lisa argues back that she had no idea she was supposed to bring chocolate...blah blah... and Charlotte yells at them both to shut it and points out that there's a nearby gift shop that sells all the chocolate they could possibly need for their stupid s'mores.

Carrie texts Samantha, asking her what she knows about Duncan Reeves, and Samantha replies, "They say he's a lot of fun." When Carrie explains that he's living one floor under her, Samantha sassily retorts, "I wish he was under me", 'cause nothing is more hilarious than a 60 something year old who never gets tired of talking like a sexual predator. Carrie passes along Samantha's assessment of Duncan to Miranda, who's getting herself all gussied up in an orange jumpsuit in anticipation of spending the night at Joy's. Carrie decides that the outfit needs a scarf...and when Miranda expresses concern that she might lose it or ruin it in some way, Carrie acknowledges that there's definitely a precedent there - but then breezily assures her it's no big deal, 'cause it's just some rag she got at a tag sale on the street.

Miranda and Joy are smooching while her two greyhound dogs sit a few feet away and stare at them in curious disdain. Joy moves the pooches into the hallway - but that doesn't help 'cause at that point they both start howling unhappily. Joy apologizes to Miranda and says that her dogs are not usually this fussy, and lets it drop that she doesn't usually ask people to spend the night. As Miranda beams happily at that tidbit, Joy laments not getting cats.

"If you don't mind, we'd like some privacy."

"Actually, we do mind."

Later, Carrie's sleep is being disturbed by Shoo, who keeps climbing atop her head...so she carries Shoo to the hallway, where she - ack! - runs into a fully naked Miranda wearing black socks. As Carrie does her best to shield her eyes from a startling visual that's often the thing of nightmares, Miranda explains that she couldn't spend the night at Joy's place 'cause her dogs kept howling...and Carrie bumps into her bedroom door in a desperate effort to escape the presence of her friend's nakedness.

The next morning, Carrie finds Miranda in the kitchen eating a yogurt and half a banana. She shoots Miranda the stink-eye and asks her if that was the last yogurt and banana, and Miranda's all, "Uh, yeah..?" and says she figured the food just belonged to the house, and reminds Carrie that not so long ago she used to have a cigarette for breakfast. Gross. Incidentally, it remains wholly unclear to me why..
  1. Miranda couldn't have dashed out to pick up her own breakfast food. They're in Manhattan, after all.
  2. Carrie is being so weirdly protective of the meagre amount of food in her fridge, and didn't think to stock up the fridge after inviting a friend to crash at her place.

Carrie notices Adam out in the courtyard just sitting idly, so Miranda explains that Duncan had yelled at him earlier for being too noisy. Carrie looks annoyed and opens the window to give Adam the green light to proceed with his landscaping.

Charlotte enters her family's luxury tent and frenetically demands they join her for a walk along the pier - but the kids mumble that they're not interested and would prefer to just lounge around and fiddle with their phones...while Harry is too worried about mosquitoes and would much prefer to watch sports on his phone. When the kids ask Charlotte why she's being so weirdly frenzied about them cherishing this family time when their father isn't even interested in being here, Harry warns his wife to chillax as she contemplates her response...and so she tightly announces that she's off for a solitary walk.

Lisa takes a photo of her family glamping...and when Herbert asks to see the photo and then scrolls through her photo library, he happens to spot a selfie featuring her and Marion sitting together on the plane earlier. Lisa explains that the sexy man is her new editor, and that there's nothing resembling hanky panky going on there. When Herbert seems skeptical of that, Lisa announces that she's ending this insulting conversation by taking a walk...and then runs into Charlotte, who's standing by the pier and spacily staring out at the water.

Carrie brings Seema to her mansion so she can show off her new table...which Miranda is sitting behind with all of her work stuff spread out. After Seema heads out to the courtyard to smoke and keep her fingers crossed that her business loan gets approved, Carrie glares disapprovingly at the mess of Miranda's files and papers spread across her precious new table and tries to tidy everything...and spills a soda in the process. Miranda pulls out the scarf Carrie loaned to her to stop the dripping, and Carrie's all, "Wha-a-a-at are you doing?!" Miranda reminds her that she had told her she bought the nothing scarf at a tag sale, and Carrie fumes, "Nothing I have is nothing", and also bitches at Miranda for so rudely drinking her last Mexican coke.

Adam's nephew/landscaping assistant (Jaime) warns Seema that smoking is bad for a person's health, and she concurs but also explains that she's under a lot of pressure at the moment. Adam wanders over and says that he too could use a drag 'cause he's under enormous pressure - particularly from Duncan, who keeps making angry faces at him from the window. Seema tells Adam she's waiting to hear about a business loan, and he flirtily asks her if she's ever tried relaxing with yoga - just as Duncan's face appears in the window to shoot Adam another stink-eye for no apparent reason.
Picture

"I'm attracted to sassy, financially struggling women who smoke cigarettes."

"You don't say."

Inside, Carrie and Miranda agree that they should definitely not be roommates...and when Seema enters the kitchen a few seconds later, Carrie asks her if she could please help her homeless friend find a place to live, like yesterday. Seema sadly announces that she didn't get her business loan - but assures Miranda that she'd be happy to seek out some suitable apartments.

While soaking in a hot tub, Lisa confides in Charlotte that she has a crush on her sexy new editor. Charlotte assures her it's perfectly fine - that is, as long as it remains an innocent crush. Lisa remarks to Charlotte that she doesn't seem like herself and asks her if anything's wrong, and Charlotte manages to hold back her tears and says she merely has a lot on her mind and doesn't want to talk about it.

Carrie is in the courtyard, telling Adam she's fairly certain that the garden will be amaaaaazing - just as the fire alarm in Duncan's apartment goes off. Carrie rushes inside, sees smoke billowing from a pot on the stove, and uses her stilettos to stamp out a dishcloth that caught on fire as she removed the burning pot. When Duncan, who was so busy working at his computer with headphones on that he somehow didn't notice the smell of smoke and/or hear the very loud fire alarm go off, she cheekily asks, "Aren't you glad I'm wearing heels?" Duncan responds with a hearty chuckle.

Later, Carrie and Duncan go out to eat. She tells him she heard that he's a lot of fun whenever he's in London...and he explains that, yep, he does have fun in London - but comes to New York to write. When he asks her what she writes, she tells him she's mostly into memoirs and essays...but that she's nervously trying something new: a historical fiction novel about an unmarried woman who was never given a name.

Later, Carrie returns to her empty house. She carefully removes her stiletto heels before tiptoeing off.

The woman learns how to cast a fishing rod

"Apples to Apples"
Original airdate: 5/19/2025

Episode summary: Aidan invites Carrie to stay at his Virginia farm, where she witnesses Wyatt's alarming behavior. Lisa interviews a sexy man to be the editor of her sheroes documentary. Miranda makes a move on Joy.
Recap: Aidan is loudly instructing Wyatt on how to paint the exterior of the guest house...which causes Carrie to wake up to the sight of - ack! - Wyatt peeking into her window. She gives him a friendly wave (which he sullenly ignores), then gets out of bed and totters down the front staircase of the guest house in her stiletto sandals and fancy pink dress. Homer (Aidan's middle son) beams happily at the sight of her and exclaims, "Carrrrrrie!" as he rushes over to give her a big hug. [These two must have really bonded during her off camera visit to Virginia in Season 2.] Carrie apologizes for her stank from wearing the same clothes for two days...after she and Seema forgot to remove their luggage from the trunk of a rental car before it got towed away. Homer offers to loan her something of his to wear, and she happily takes him up on a fresh change of clothes.

Over at the mansion, Shoo is perched on the highest point of her kitty condo as she stares down at Miranda (who's sleeping in Carrie's bed as she house-sits) and decides it'd be fun to pounce upon her head. The head pounce startles Miranda, who chides the sweet feline for waking her...but then coos about how utterly adorable she is.

Herbert tells Lisa she was talking in her sleep again last night, and Lisa explains that it's likely 'cause she's been so anxious about hiring a new editor for her sheroes documentary...and has gotten three weeks behind due to her inability to just make a damn hiring decision. An irritated Herbert tells her to decide quick, 'cause her sleep talking is keeping him up at night. Lisa sheepishly promises to do it today.

Harry tells his family that his dad (who everybody calls Pop Pop) wants to have dinner tonight at 5pm. Charlotte scrunches her face and remarks on how crazy early that is, and Harry just shrugs and points out that his dad is very old and that very old people like to eat early. Harry then notices an overripe banana on the counter and picks it up - but Rock tells him not to eat it 'cause the woman in 10F sent out an all building bulletin requesting overripe bananas. [Seems weirdly specific, but OK.] Harry rolls his eyes and grumbles about how the 10F woman is always begging her fellow residents for weird, random things. He then hands Pop Pop's iPad to Rock and explains that the device needs fixing 'cause it has a ton of windows open and is unable to download anything. Lily, meanwhile, informs her family that she has invited (her ballerina crush) Diego to the family's Tuesday night dinner, and Charlotte squeals excitedly about finally getting a formal introduction to the guy she recently saw her daughter sucking face with.

During breakfast, Homer asks Carrie how long she's staying at the farm - and Aidan quickly interjects and says he's hereby inviting Carrie to stay for a few days so that she can join them for Tate's 21st birthday. Carrie points out that she's going to need to buy some clothes...and when Aidan offers to take her to Target, Wyatt asks if this means he no longer has to paint the guest house. Carrie quickly offers to go somewhere local...and when Homer offers to take her to the nearby Daisy's Dress Shop, Wyatt pissily declares that he's refusing to paint the guest house if Homer is allowed to slack off. [This kid really is an unbearable pill.] Carrie does her best to diffuse the situation by offering to walk to town - but Aidan says that that's a no go 'cause the road is currently too muddy. Homer suggests she drive the ATV...and in the next scene, Aidan is giving Carrie some basic instruction on how to operate the slow moving motor vehicle and provides directions to the dress shop. He sheepishly explains that if he were to leave Wyatt alone, even for a second, he'd become glued to his phone...and he much prefers the lad to work outside so that he can get "out of his head". Carrie's like, "Yeah, OK, whatever" and slowly motors off on the ATV while Aidan and Homer cheer her on.

Back in New York, Lisa's assistant informs her that a Marion Odin is in the reception area, waiting to be interviewed for the editor job...then specifies that Marion is a guy. Lisa looks aghast at the gender reveal and says she'd much prefer that a woman be editing her sheroes documentary - but her assistant warns that she prolly shouldn't say something so brazenly discriminatory out loud. A few seconds later, the incredibly suave Marion sexily sashays in and wankingly tells Lisa he saw her past film when it opened in Tribeca and was utterly moooooved by it. He also mentions that he knows her ex-assistant Grace, 'cause they're both part of a greater community of film editors who get together every now and again to play baseball. Lisa admits that his resume is very impressive - but that she needs to decide if she's really truly 100% willing to hire a non-woman to edit her precious female-centric video content. She promises to make a final decision tomorrow.
Picture

"I really wish you were a female editor."

Picture

"Just think of me as a taller, more muscular Grace."

Carrie calls Miranda to let her know that she'll be staying at Aidan's farm for a few days. She mentions that Wyatt is an antisocial weirdo [who, I strongly feel, gives off alarming 'I could be a school shooter' vibes] who just wants to be on his phone 24/7, and Miranda assures her that the phone thing is totally normal for a teenage boy [even though it's far too optimistic to describe Wyatt as a normal teenage boy]. Carrie tells her she just borrowed Aidan's ATV to ride over to "a sister wives' dress shop", where she's browsing the racks of floral dresses for something clean to wear. Miranda then shares her fun news: she was personally requested by Joy to make an appearance on the BBC.

Ryan Serhant drops by Seema's office to implore her to work under the umbrella of his real estate company...and when she adamantly refuses, he orders her to be off this floor of the building by next week, 'cause his people need the office space. Once he's safely out of earshot, Seema mutters, "Shit.."

Aidan has fibbed to his kids about going for a swim, and is getting it on with Carrie in the guest house. Carrie asks him why she gave the dining table (she really really wants to buy online) a thumbs down emoji, and he's like, "Dunno" and says he barely gave it any thought and would be happy to mindlessly change his rating to a thumbs up. He then asks her if she wouldn't mind spending some quality time with Homer and Wyatt tomorrow, and Carrie grimaces at the thought of trying to bond with his youngest son and says she fears the effort might come off as trying too hard and overly cheesy. Aidan just kind of shrugs unconcernedly and says he'd really really appreciate it if she made an effort to do fun stuff with his boys.

Lisa yells, "Hey! Hey!" in her sleep, which wakes up Herbert. She continues yelling, then talking loudly...and Herbert firmly mutters, "No ma'am" and swiftly exits the bedroom.

The next morning, Herbert tells Lisa he had a great sleep - but only after he opted to sleep in the guest room. Lisa looks appalled by that and warns that they could be on the brink of sleep divorce and insists, "That's not who we are." Herbert points out that his decision to get a good night's sleep is not so much sleep divorce as it is common sense.

Wyatt is playing a game on his phone, which Aidan quickly snatches away from him. He orders him to show Carrie what they do around here - just as she totters over in her high heels wearing one of the Little House on the Prairie frocks she just purchased from Daisy's Dress Shop [which, I'd like to point out, probably mirrors the kind of outfit "the woman" from her historical-novel-in-process would be walking around in].

While preparing to go live on the air in front of the UN, Miranda invites Joy out for dinner - but Joy says she already has plans to meet up with a group of UK friends at the Grammercy Tavern. Miranda perks up and tells her she's house-sitting in Grammercy Park and would love her to come by for a post-dinner drink, and Joy says she'd be delighted.

As the camera goes live, Miranda tells BBC viewers about the dire situation in Central Africa, and that "the rough terrain makes it almost impossible for the displaced to access safe water and sanitation in the wild cunt-ry side". Someone gasps at Miranda's weird pause in the midst of pronouncing country and whispers, "Did she just say cunt?" [Mmm...not really, no.]
Picture

"I'm cunt-emplating becoming the Internet's meme of the day."

Picture

"Mission accomplished."

As Homer teaches Carrie how to cast a fishing rod, she jokingly tells him she hopes to catch a salmon, 'cause it's the only kind of fish she knows how to cook. She then turns to Wyatt and asks him if he likes salmon, and he bitchily rejoins that catching a salmon isn't actually possible - 'cause they're in Virginia, not Alaska. Homer chides his brother for acting like such a rude turd, and so Wyatt bellyaches about how fishing is soooooo boring [I don't mean to side with Wyatt on this, but I'd tend to agree]. Carrie asks him what he'd rather be doing...and in the next scene, Carrie informs Aidan that she, Homer, and Wyatt are headed to the mall to some VR place that lets you virtually kill zombies. When Aidan says he doesn't like the idea of Wyatt living in any kind of non-reality, Carrie begs him to loosen up, 'cause it's prolly the only way she can connect with his weirdo son. Aidan mulls it over and decides he's OK with it - but insists on coming along.

Brady texts Miranda a now viral video of her saying wild cunt in a loop...which seems less hilarious every time it gets repeated. A horrified Miranda calls Brady, who greets her with, "Hi meme", but then assures her that her faux pas will fade off the Internet the minute a celebrity says or does something stupid. Fingers crossed.

Over at the VR Zombie Killing place, everyone's having fun shooting imaginary monsters - when Wyatt suddenly bonks Carrie in the head in what looked to me like a deliberate attack. When everyone's all, "The hell?", Wyatt whiningly insists, "I was just trying to step in and save my dad." Aidan tells Carrie it was clearly just an accident, and that he doesn't want anyone to make Wyatt feel bad for hitting her with his zombie gun...and Carrie looks visibly peeved by that and complains, "I feel like I'm not allowed to touch my head" [even though she doesn't need to 'cause she's clearly uninjured]. Aidan kisses her boo-boo better, and Carrie half-heartedly assures him she's fine.

Over on Park Avenue, Pop Pop is raving to Charlotte about how amaaaaazing her cooking is, then chides Harry for grumbling about the woman in 10F who wants the overripe banana and tells him to just give it to her already [and if doing that means never ever talking about this anymore, I wholeheartedly agree]. Miranda calls Charlotte while she's sitting atop the toilet (yes really) and asks her if she happened to see her wild cunt meme...and Rock overhears Charlotte's part of the conversation and needlessly chimes in that, yep, they've definitely seen it. Charlotte abruptly ends the call when her dinner guests start arriving, including the woman in 10F who came to pick up her overripe banana. Pop Pop hands it to her and invites her to stay for dinner, which she happily does.

Lily confirms to everyone at the dinner table that Diego is her boyfriend...and Diego concurs - but then clarifies that he also has a boyfriend. As Charlotte stares at her daughter in mute shock, Rock interjects to explain that Diego is poly-sexual, which means he's attracted to a combination of genders...and apparently likes to act on his various attractions in a simultaneous type fashion.

Herbert kisses Lisa good night and starts to head over to the guest room - but Lisa stops him, says she's adamant about them not entering into sleep divorce territory, and promises to not talk in her sleep. In the next scene, we see that Lisa is doing everything possible to stay awake while Herbert contentedly snores beside her.

Seema packs up her desk and tells the receptionist she'll arrange for her things to be put into short term storage. She then asks the young woman if she'd like to jump ship and join her at her new real estate firm - but the receptionist declines 'cause she pays $3,000 a month in rent [holy crap Manhattan housing is so ridiculously expensive] and can't risk a decrease in salary. Seema says she totally understands and helplessly adds, "That was my best Jerry McGuire", a movie reference the receptionist is too young to understand.

As Aidan sets the patio table for dinner, Tate arrives with Kathy and her boyfriend Bob. Kathy gives Wyatt a hello hug, covertly thanks Carrie for bring the stash of Adderall, then chuckles at the locally purchased prairie girl get-up she's currently rocking. Carrie excuses herself when she gets a call from Miranda, who's fretting about the fact that Joy just cancelled on her 'cause she's too busy entertaining her UK friends - and is translating that to mean she got turned off by the wild cunt meme. Carrie suggests she invite Joy and her UK friends to her mansion for some wine, and assures her that the wild cunt meme will soon be forgotten. Fingers crossed again.

As Tate opens his birthday gifts, Bob tells Carrie on the down low that the Shaw clan is a hard family to break into 'cause they're so tight knit, then says that Aidan doesn't like him to have an opinion, especially about his kids taking Adderall. Bob says he's definitely siding with Kathy on the issue, and doesn't get why Aidan wouldn't want Wyatt to take the meds if it can help with his ADHD. He asks Carrie what she thinks - but she's too stricken to respond and hastily excuses herself.
Picture

"If there's one thing Aidan hates, it's someone feeding his kids Adderall."

Picture

"Oh. Shit."

Carrie makes a beeline over to Aidan, who's putting the candles on Tate's birthday cake. She tells him that had she known he disapproved of Wyatt taking Adderall, she never would have brought a stash of it to Virginia. Aidan quickly shuts her down and says he doesn't want to get into it when Tate is about to blow out his birthday candles.

Joy and her group of insufferable UK friends arrive at the mansion, and they immediately recognize Miranda from the wild cunt meme. As they chortle over the hilarity of Miranda mispronouncing country, an unamused Miranda says that the meme was taken out of context, which one of the friends re-brands as cunt-ext.

Harry has mounted Charlotte - but gets frustrated when his pecker fails to stiffen. He expresses concern that he's soon going to be an infirm old man like Pop Pop, so Charlotte assures him that, even if sex is permanently off the table, they'll still find a way to connect. A few seconds later, Rock knocks on the door to sourly inform them that while cleaning up Pop Pop's iPad, they discovered a lot of downloaded porn from Pornhub. [Mmm...I'm no porn expert - but wouldn't Pop Pop mostly be streaming the videos?]. They express irritation at having had to perform the icky task...and when Charlotte asks them to just quietly return the iPad to Pop Pop, Rock says he went over to 10F to bone the banana lady and left behind a message to not wait up. Mmm hmm..

Joy's UK friends are reminiscing about their past adventures as international journalists while Joy sits by herself and broods.

Back at the farm, everyone's playing a rousing game of Apples to Apples. When Carrie wins a round (with Homer's help), Wyatt gets all pissy-bitchy and drops a few f-bombs before storming away from the table. Aidan follows him to the living room and reminds him that they're playing a family game, to which Wyatt bellows that it's not a family 'cause "they're here" (referring to Carrie and Bob). Tate irritably tells his brother to grow up, and Wyatt screams, "Fuck off!" ... and Kathy stares beseechingly at Aidan and points out that this is why Wyatt so desperately needs Adderall. Aidan angrily retorts that he's not about to pump his alcohol abusing son with meds, then admonishes her for getting Carrie involved to "mule your shit" down from New York. As a despondent looking Tate mutters, "Great birthday.." and Homer yells, "Fuck you, Wyatt!", Wyatt runs out side and smashes the living room with what looked like a pickaxe and screeches, "Fuck you all!" while a distraught Carrie looks as if she wishes the earth would suddenly open and swallow her whole.

Um, maybe the Adderall is something to reconsider, Aidan.

Later, Aidan tells Carrie he has to go for an actual swim, then dejectedly shuffles off.

As Joy heads out, Miranda asks her why she was so quiet all evening, then says she's pretty sure she already knows the reason: wild cunt-gate. Joy looks surprised by that assumption and shares that she tends to shut down and get all broody whenever she's attracted to someone [which I found a tad weird]. As Miranda perks up at that tidbit, she leans in for what ends up being an electrifying smooch.

Aidan drops by the guest house, where Carrie has retreated for the evening. He apologizes for inviting her to stay at the hell that is his farm, then explains that he felt guilty when she flew all the way to Virginia mostly to have lunch with him. Carrie, in turn, apologizes for not truly believing that he had to spend every waking moment with his troubled son - until she saw him violently smash the living room window over a game of Apples to Apples. She assures Aidan she's not dumping him [just yet], then gives him a key to her mansion and invites him to use the key if and whenever he can - as long as it's never out of a sense of guilt.

The next day, Carrie is on a plane, en route back to New York, when she starts voice-overing about how "the woman" returned home after a long journey.

Charlotte contemplates re-experiencing the party all night phase of life

"Carrie Golightly"
Original airdate: 5/12/2025

Episode summary: Carrie travels to Virginia to hook up with Aidan, and needlessly brings Seema along. Charlotte struggles to keep up with her much younger, hard partying colleagues. Miranda summons the courage to ask out Joy.
Recap: Carrie FaceTimes with her publisher (Amanda) to report that she's currently working on a fiction book about an unnamed woman who lived in the mid 1800s. Amanda squeals excitedly at the prospect of a historical novel being penned by the literary genius that is Carrie Bradshaw, then informs Carrie of the many speaking requests she's received...including a panel discussion in Williamsburg, Virginia. Carrie perks up at that and says she's definitely interested in travelling to Virginia.

Anthony is flanked by his scantily clad employees as he oversees the opening of his new Hotfellas Bakery - but the only customers in the establishment appear to be the AJLT gals. Carrie announces that she's planning to travel to Williamsburg for a panel discussion, and then will drop by Norfolk for a casual lunch with Aidan. The gals gush about how romaaaantic that is...and when Seema asks Carrie if she's planning on staying in Norfolk for any length of time, Carrie says she doesn't want to put that pressure on Aidan. A few seconds later, Anthony marches over to complain about the lack of customers and lament that Guiseppe refuses to show up in his skimpy uniform to attract passersby, then goes outside to bark at his employees (who have been tasked with passing out free bread samples) to do a better job of luring people inside so they can become paying customers.

Carrie tries to get at least one of the gals interested in accompanying her to Virginia - but they all pretend they're far too busy. Anthony interrupts the conversation to ask Charlotte to invite Lisa to his bakery 'cause he neeeeeeds her "Upper East Side mom-fluencer bullshit". A few seconds later, Carrie gets a call from Kathy (Aidan's ex-wife) ... and as she steps outside to take the call, Lisa and her Upper East side minions enthusiastically burst into the bakery, much to Anthony's happy relief.

Kathy asks Carrie if she wouldn't mind bringing a stash of Adderall (for Wyatt) when she comes to Virginia, explaining that there's a nationwide shortage of the med. She figured Carrie would be well connected enough to unearth a supply of the drugs...and after the call, Carrie goes back inside the bakery to blab to the gals about Kathy's bizarre request and assumptions about her. Charlotte confirms that, yep, there is a shortage of ADHD meds, then gets up and saunters across the bakery to where a couple of middle aged moms are seated. She asks if one of them can get a hold of the kind of Adderall prescription her friend is looking for, and one of them says she can definitely hook her up.

Lisa returns to her studio, where Grace (her assistant) has exciting news: Steve McQueen's producer wants to hire her to work on his upcoming documentary. Lisa squeals joyfully 'cause she assumes that Grace will only take the job once her work on the sheroes documentary wraps [in about a hundred years] - but Grace tells her that McQueen needs her right now and that she has to accept this amazing offer. Lisa irritably says she doesn't have to, she's choosing to...then calls it "a major inconvenience" and further complains, "It is a huge setback for me, and I'm more than a little annoyed." Grace admits that the timing may not be ideal - but hastens to point out that she's been devoted to this project for the last eight years, even though it was only supposed to take one...and that she has stuck with it all this time 'cause she loves her and the work. Lisa gets all defensive and says the sheroes doc has been taking nearly a decade 'cause she took time off to have her children, and Grace is like, "Whatever. I'm barren." When Lisa debases herself further by begging Grace to stay, Grace says she was given until Friday to give McQueen's producer her answer...and that it'll be a resounding YES. Lisa shoots her the stink-eye and mutters, "Wow.." [yes Lisa...wow indeed] and excuses herself from the studio to privately glare into space while remaining utterly non-self-reflective about her shitty treatment of Grace just now.

Over at the gallery, Charlotte's three Gen Z co-workers are all tired and hungover from partying with potential clients all night. They chide Charlotte for always leaving the party early and not joining in with their binge-drinking and drug-fuelled dance fests...and seem oblivious to the strong possibility that a married fifty-something-year-old with nearly grown kids might be long past the 'partying 'til the wee hours of the morning' phase of life.

Miranda is over at the mansion, helping Carrie build a kitty condo for little Shoo. Carrie hands Miranda a key to her place so that she can housesit while she's in Virginia, then says she's also going to give Aidan a key to "their house" when she sees him. Miranda tells Carrie she finally summoned the courage to ask Joy out - but under the guise of wanting on-camera coaching tips. Carrie condescendingly asks her if it's really necessary to "play those games" with Joy, so Miranda calls her out on her game playing by "casually" dropping by Norfolk to give Aidan a key to a house he's already been in twice. Bwahaha! Carrie gets prickly about wanting a "cease and desist on the Aidan wisecracks" 'cause she's still trying to figure out how to function in their weirdly uncommunicative, long distance relationship. Miranda hastily apologizes for coming off as an asshole...even though her remark came off more as someone who was making a fair point to an insufferably uppity friend.

Later at home, Charlotte wails to her family (+ Anthony and Guiseppe) that her career is suffering 'cause she's always having to function as a wife and mother, while her colleagues are out clubbing all night and making art world connections. Lily tells her to stop being so dramatic and insists that they don't require her to be home every night - but Charlotte bitchily reminds them how helpless they all are whenever she's not around. As everyone sits down to eat, Charlotte continues to bellyache about how her co-workers see her as a boring mom who has to rush home to her family, and Harry concurs and says that his co-workers at the law firm [where he never seems to actually work anymore] regard him as a boring lawyer who does his work, goes home, and doesn't like to party. When he says he's sooooo much more than that, his kids express surprise and then point out that he doesn't even have the right kind of clothes to be out clubbing. Guiseppe injects some common sense into the idiotic conversation and suggests to Harry that he accompany Charlotte on an outing with her art gallery crew...and Harry mulls that over and decides he likes the idea. Anthony then needlessly turns the conversation to a stupid rant about how Guiseppe continues to refuse to don skimpywear and work at his Hotfellas Bakery, and Guiseppe explains that he's a poet who doesn't like to have his monstrously sized penis stared at as if it's a zoo animal.

Elliot summons Seema to his office to announce that 1) he's retiring 'cause he's ninety years old, and 2) he's selling his controlling share of the company to Ryan Serhant, an obnoxious pipsqueak of a man who stars in Netflix's reality show Owning Manhattan. Seema is dismayed by the news, then looks visibly despondent when Ryan Serhant suddenly appears in the doorway wearing a party hat and holding a bottle of champagne. Seema tells both men that she's taking some vacation time to figure out how she feels about this merger, then grabs the bottle of champagne out of Ryan's hand on her way out.

Carrie has taken Harry clothes shopping, and he's taking a very looooong time trying on a pair of excruciatingly stiff jeans. [It remains unclear why he doesn't just opt for more of a stretchy type denim.] While waiting outside the fitting room, Carrie gets a call from Seema, who tells her about the Ryan Serhant merger and that she'd be delighted to accompany her to Virginia.

The next day, Seema arrives at the mansion to pick up Carrie and encounters Adam the landscaper. The two exchange some cute, flirty banter before introducing themselves to each other...and a few seconds later, Carrie emerges from her front door with a couple of overnight bags for their jaunt to Virginia.

While aboard the plane, Seema tells Carrie she really really needs distance from her job problems...and Carrie's like, "That's nice - but since the problems aren't about me, I really don't give toooooo much of a shit."

Lisa is in her kitchen, angrily mashing potatoes as she rails to Herbert about how Grace is leaving her "high and dry". Herbert sympathizes with her plight - until he learns that Grace wants to jump ship for Steve McQueen. When Lisa rails about how desperately she needs an editor, Herbert reminds her that Grace has been a loyal assistant for years, willing to roll with whatever was convenient for her (her meaning Lisa) when she took off entire years to raise their children. He gently suggests to his self-absorbed wife, "Maybe it's time to start thinking about what works best for her." Lisa, for whom that concept doesn't seem to compute, responds by glaring at Herbert and mashing the potatoes even angrier.

A couple of days later, Carrie and Seema are dining out in Virginia, discussing how they each want to be the top priority for the men in their lives. When Carrie grimly laments being Aidan's #4, Seema wankingly points out that he seems really really committed to making their relationship work...whereas Elliot was sooooo dismissive about everything she's done for their company for the last twenty years. Seema promptly decides, "I'm done, out" and declares that she's starting her own real estate firm: The Patel Group. They're suddenly interrupted by the head of PR for the festival Carrie just spoke at. He introduces himself as Mike, tells the gals he manages this restaurant and will serve them anything they want, then gets irked when he notices that the waiter gave them an outdated menu.

Miranda is out for drinks with Joy, pretending to want helpful tips from a broadcast expert. Joy offers one piece of advice: while on the air, it's OK to pause and take a few deep breaths. As she demonstrates her deep breathing technique, she grabs Miranda's hand and holds it to her chest so that she can feel how deep and far apart the breaths are. Miranda instantly looks overwhelmed with horny longing...and then looks even more overwhelmed with horny longing when Joy reaches over to touch her chest and instructs her to breathe in more of a measured, purposeful way.

"This is how I breathe deeply."

"This is how I start to hornily hyperventilate."

Harry is out clubbing with Charlotte and her Gen Z co-workers when he rushes over to the men's room to urinate - but can't unbutton his stiff new jeans in time to avoid peeing his pants. He then pulls Charlotte aside and tells her he's not going to make it to the after after party on account of his pants are urine-soaked.

That evening in a Virginia hotel room, Carrie calls Aidan to inform him that she'll rent a car and meet him at the restaurant where they'll be lunching. A few seconds later, Seema drops by the room with a bucket of KFC...and in the next scene, the two are lounging atop the bed and eating chicken while Seema considers the prospect of starting her own firm. Carrie's like, "Once again, I really don't care about your problems" and brings up the topic of Aidan and sadly says she wishes he had invited her to stay at his farm. This prompts Seema to point out that he likely has no idea how strongly she feels about that, given that she was probably so busy acting all breezy about them getting together for lunch, and nothing more. Carrie stares into space as she mulls over that reasonable theory.

While continuing to party at 3am, Charlotte's co-worker Lela gabbles excitedly about how much she digs one of the men they're currently partying with: a drug snorting Dutch art buyer. The group then talks about their next stop - the after after after party (?) - and Charlotte looks exhausted, and then exasperated when everyone starts ordering espressos.

The group heads over to a busy dance club, where the Dutch art buyer starts doing coke with a bunch of randos. Lela again gushes about how into the Dutch guy she is and asks Charlotte to find out if he likes her (OMFG). Charlotte somehow refrains from replying that she couldn't be less interested in behaving as if they're in fucking high school and so tells the Dutch guy she knows of a certain young lady who's sweet on him. The Dutch guy translates that to mean that she's the interested party and leans in for a kiss - but Charlotte hastily pushes him away and haughtily tells him she was talking about Lela. She proceeds to exit the bar, and then has to shield her eyes from the early morning sun as she totters down the street.

Lisa arrives at her studio and contritely apologizes to Grace for behaving so abysmally the other day. She admits that she's scared of losing the only editor who's been patient enough to hang in there for the last eight years. Grace assures Lisa that she's the one who's going to make this (never-ending) project great, and wankingly adds, "You have you. You've got this."

Carrie and Seema rent a car for the drive to Norfolk...and Carrie continues to stew about why Aidan didn't invite her to stay overnight at his farm.

As Anthony stands in his bakery and looks crestfallen by the lack of interest the passersby have in freshly baked bread, Guiseppe arrives, decked out in the skimpy Hotfellas uniform to report for duty. His gargantuan penis, that can barely be contained inside the tight onesie, is instantly noticed and ogled by everyone within vision range, and soon the bakery is filled with customers who are visibly turned on by the well endowed Italian.

While en route to the Norfolk restaurant, Seema pulls into a parking lot (with traffic spikes for some reason) to take a FaceTime call from Ryan Serhant. Carrie exits the car to give her full privacy.

Back at the gallery, Charlotte is putting drops in her bloodshot eyes when an art buyer named Alexis wanders over and says she's interested in purchasing an expensive piece, and wants her favourite curator to get the commission. Charlotte squeals delightedly and ushers her over to wherever that sort of transaction usually takes place.

Seema is smoking in the rental car when Carrie returns. Seema grimly reports that Ryan Serhant nixed the idea of adding her name to the company's letterhead - just as she backs up the car...and in the process drives over the row of spikes. Carrie gives her a 'the fuck?' glare and asks if she didn't see the prominent Do not back up sign...and Seema translates her stupidity behind the wheel as a sign that she needs to move forward in life. After the tow truck arrives and hauls away the damaged rental, Aidan pulls up in his pickup truck and jokingly asks if someone called for a Goober, which is apparently hillbilly-speak for Uber. Carrie chuckles and rushes over to the driver's side for a long smooch, after which Aidan invites her to stay in town for lunch, dinner, and breakfast. Carrie giddily reports this happy development to Seema, who asks to be dropped off at the airport asap so that she can rush back to New York and start up her new company. It's at this point that the two dumb-dumbs realize they left their luggage in the trunk of the damaged rental car.

"We did! We did!"

Aidan drives Carrie to his farm and tells her that since he didn't get a chance to tell his (mostly full grown) sons that she was staying overnight, he'd like her to sleep in the guest house. Carrie assures him she's A-OK with staying under the radar, then hands him the stash of Adderall that Kathy had requested she bring along. He grimaces at the sight of the pills - but then shakes it off and coos about how happy he is that she's here.

Later that night, Carrie opens her laptop to continue writing about "the woman", who has just survived a treacherous journey, fully intact.
