"We'll figure out some icky way to plant my demon seed."
Original airdate: 10/28/1987
Episode summary: Alexis is irked when Blake seeks to purchase prime timberland and turn it into a wildlife preserve (to boost his image for voters). Dana frets about her infertility. Steven takes ownership of a football team.
Elsewhere in the mansion, Fallon informs Jeff that she has sent for the children after unilaterally deciding that since The Colbys (spinoff show) was a ratings bust, they should prolly move the entire family back to Denver asap. Jeff irritably tells her she should have run this decision by him first...and when she says she finds it hard to talk to him about anything these days, he bitchily retorts, "Like little men in spaceships?" He then shifts the topic and tells her that Blake has asked him to be his campaign manager...and bitterly adds that it's soooooo ironic he told Blake he needed to check with her before accepting. He snippily says he's decided he wants the job and snaps, "That should make you happy" and storms out of the room. Yeesh, Jeff. Un-twist your panties already.
Over at the Carlton Hotel, Sean is massaging Alexis while explaining that his fingers are so good at it 'cause he spent years training as a classical pianist. Alexis tries to suss out more about his past - but has no luck and complains that he's so secretive, especially when he disappears for hours at a time. Sean snarkishly assures her that where he goes and what he does when he's not at the Carlton has nothing to do with their toxic hookup. And on that note, he heads off to some undisclosed location, prompting Alexis to light up a cigarette and call Morgan Hess to look into what her weird new lover is up to when they're not in the sack together.
Over in the vestibule of Carrington manor, Fallon runs into Dex, who tells her he heard about her space alien interaction. She angrily asks him who divulged that secret 'cause she considers it a betrayal...and he declines to out Leslie as the source, then says he's heard of people encountering otherworldly beings and believes her story. He adds that if she ever wants to talk about it with him he won't make her feel foolish (unlike her shitty husband), and she gives him a grateful hug before heading out the door.
Alexis drops by Adam's ColbyCo office to gift him a new sweater and ask if Dana's OK following her doctor's appointment. Adam breezily insists that she's fine, then changes the subject to their plans for a paper mill, involving 70K acres of land (owned by Arthur Whitcomb) that's suddenly been slated as a wildlife preserve. He grimly adds that Blake is behind this effort, no doubt to bolster his image for the gubernatorial race. Alexis sneeringly mutters, "We'll have to see about that" before flouncing off.
Over at the mansion, Blake tells Krystle that, according to land commissioners, there's no reason that Arthur Whitcomb's 70K acres can't be purchased and then set aside to bar any development. Alexis barges into the study and barks that she can think of many reasons and calls the idea preposterous, given that the land in question is valuable timberland. Blake points out that the land is also an important refuge for the wildlife in the state, and that he wants to give back to animal lovers now that he's running for governor. Krystle urges her to look beyond what benefits her financially, and Alexis warns Blake to leave that land alone, mocks Krystle for dutifully/mindlessly standing by her husband's side, and declares that she intends to get all the timber she wants.
"You never cared about timberland before now."
"That's 'cause I never had to suck up to voters before now."
Steven takes Danny to the stadium to watch Blake's football team practice. Afterwards, by the locker room, they witness two of the players snarling at one another before engaging in a hostile shoving match. Steven hastily orders them to break it up, then orders the blonde one (Josh Harris) to report to his office in an hour.
Morgan Hess is not-so-subtly spying on Sean in the lobby of the Carlton Hotel when he calls Alexis to give her a daily report. He tells her he managed to easily follow Sean around all day, but that the freak didn't really seem to do anything of notable interest. Suddenly, Sean appears beside him and forces an abrupt end to the call by roughly grabbing Morgan's hand...and on the other end of the line, a puzzled Alexis is all, "Hello? Hello?", then shrugs disinterestedly and hangs up. Lol.
Fallon accuses Jeff of telling Dex about her spaceship story, and he snappishly counters that he didn't tell Dex anything...and suggests that maybe Steven (in whom she also confided) was the one who blabbed about it to other people. He then grumbles about having to attend a fundraiser for Blake this evening and wishes she'd perform her wifely duty and accompany him to the event. He then drops his tie and bends over to pick it up the same time Fallon leans over to do the same - and the two bump their heads together, which prompts gales of spontaneous laughter from both of them. Jeff grinningly wonders aloud when they last laughed...or had sex, and she says it's definitely been a very looooooooog time. He then decides to stop being so bitchy-pissy about everything all the damn time and suggests they meet up at the Carlton Hotel after the fundraiser and enjoy a late supper, and Fallon happily tells him she's totes into that idea.
Steven asks Josh Harris whassup about his suspension (which apparently was brought about by his attitude problem), so Josh starts whining that he's super depressed about the football team being in last place because of the following..
- The coaches have checked out and no longer give a rat's ass about the team losing games
- The owner (Blake) has also checked out and seems solely focused on running for governor
- The star quarterback (the guy he was shoving around earlier) is more interested in chasing endorsements than he is winning games for the team
That evening, Jeff calls Fallon, who's been waiting for him at the Carlton Hotel, and tells her he's not going to be able to leave the fundraiser anytime soon 'cause he still has a lot of schmoozing to do with many rich, important donors. Fallon irritably snarks, "We all have our priorities" before abruptly hanging up, then tearily asks the waiter to arrange for the valet to bring her car around.
Alexis returns to her suite and is startled to find Sean waiting for her. He growlingly warns her that he doesn't like being followed, then says it wasn't at all difficult to get Morgan Hess to reveal the nature of his assignment. An unfazed Alexis says she merely wanted to know more about him 'cause, for whatever God-only-knows-why reason, she enjoys having him around so darn much that she'd like to offer him a highly paid job at ColbyCo without making even the slightest effort to first vet him. Sean tells her he'll let her know his answer after sleeping on it - alone - then exits the suite while Alexis stares after him in miffed fascination.
"You'd really give a psychotic nobody you barely know a job in your fancy company?"
"An absurdly highly paid one at that."
Adam reprimands Dana for jetting off to Billings without telling him, and she meekly admits that, yeah, she should have called...then makes up a lame story about having to help out a friend in need. Adam sheepishly says he was actually worried that she had left him 'cause of the obnoxiously belligerent way he's been behaving about so desperately wanting a baby. Dana promises to never leave him, and he assures her he's very happy being married to her and will get in touch with other doctors about how they can go about starting a family. Dana forlornly asks, "Would you hold me?" and he gives her a from-behind hug and insists that there has to be a way for them to reproduce.
Over at ColbyCo, Alexis calls Bill in the Legal Affairs Department to order him to check on their option to purchase Arthur Whitcomb's timberland...and if it's viable, he should immediately snap it up. A few seconds later, Sean ambles in, smarmily says he missed hitting the sheets with her last night, and declares that he doesn't actually want a job at ColbyCo, remarking that she has no idea if he's even qualified to do anything. Yeah, a totally fair and valid point. Alexis wankingly tells him he's smart [that remains debatable], and that smartness is somehow the only qualification she's looking for whenever seeking to rashly hire an employee. She hands him a folder with her proposition outlined, and Sean looks it over and says that while he likes the job title and the generous salary, he has zero desire to work for her and would instead much rather work with her as a special consultant. A few seconds later, Adam enters the office to tell Alexis that he has some thoughts on the timberland issue...and looks pleased to meet the man who saved his mother's life - until he learns that Sean has just been hired as a highly paid consultant. Sean assures Adam that Alexis has filled him in on the timberland issue and orders him to hand over whatever research he's done. When Adam insists that he can take care of it, Sean points out his conflict of interest 'cause of Blake's involvement. Alexis concurs and tells Adam that it'd be a good idea to let Sean take charge of the timberland conundrum, and Adam looks visibly irked as he exits the office. Sean gleefully points out to Alexis that Adam clearly doesn't approve of him, and Alexis says all that matters is that she does, and officially welcomes him to ColbyCo.
Dex arrives at the pipeline project worksite and finds Leslie in the trailer, hard at work. He hovers over her and coos about how much he missed her last night, says they make a good team, then leans in for a smooch. Alexis decides to drop by the trailer at that exact moment to give Dex some final Lex-Dex papers to sign [apparently so that she can buy up the timberland she wants]. When Dex gets irked about the never-ending legal process to end their now-defunct company, Alexis snarkingly tells him to just sign the damn papers 'cause she doesn't want to have to come all the way out here again. Leslie intervenes, promises Alexis that she'll get Dex to read and the sign the papers, after which she'll return them to ColbyCo personally. Alexis nods approvingly and privately tells Dex that that Leslie is one smart girl.
Steven tells Blake that it looks as though he's doing well in the polls...and that with Jeff managing the day-to-day operations of the campaign, it's sure to get even better. Blake says he'd loooooove for him to be more involved, but Steven says he has a better, completely unrelated-to-politics idea: hand over the ownership of his failing football team. Blake scrunches his face and complains about the franchise, the awful players, and mediocre ticket sales - but Steven says he's been watching the team play and is pretty sure he can turn it around by finding the right man for the job: himself!
Over at Delta Rho, a leotard clad Sammy Jo is performing a gratuitous aerobic workout when Krystle drops by to see if she'd like to go out for lunch. Sammy Jo continues to exercise as she replies that she's not in the mood for lunch...and when Krystle asks her how much longer she can live trying to sway her non-hetero ex-husband into performing some hetero-style hanky panky, she says she'll do whatever it takes to keep her family together. Krystle tut-tuts her for denying her own needs...and that Danny, the ranch, and her aerobics can't take the place of a loving relationship with a fully straight man.
"I have no problem devoting my life to my son, aerobics, and feigning confusion about Steven's sexual identity."
"I'm pensively concerned about your life choices."
Adam grills Gerard about who Dana might be having dinner with, and Gerard tells him he has no idea - just as Dana enters the study. When Adam grumbles about her second abrupt disappearance this episode, she tells him she had an impromptu dinner with a woman who runs a reputable adoption agency. Adam retorts, "I don't want to adopt! I want a child who's my own flesh and blood!" A deflated Dana weakly points out that their adopted child would be as loved and nurtured as if she had personally birthed it...then reminds him that, not so long ago, he himself was adopted by Blake and Alexis [despite there being no concrete proof that he's not their biological son]. Adam ignores that comparison, pissily says he doesn't want to talk about this no 'mo, but concedes that it was good of her to try. After he storms out, Dana sadly mutters, "This is the only way."
"Blake and Alexis adopted you, didn't they?"
"Yes, and now they're saddled for life with one sick individual."
While laying in bed, Jeff apologizes to Fallon for missing their late supper the other night - but Fallon petulantly points out that he could simply have excused himself [though probably not]. He insists he's very sorry and leans in for a reconciliation smooch, but she pulls away from him and snappishly tells him to leave her alone.
A restless Dana gets out of bed, tiptoes down the hall and peeks into Kristina's bedroom, where Krystle is cuddling her daughter after she had a bad dream. Dana looks touched and wistful by the maternal display, then heads over to the study to watch some TV. She channel surfs until she stumbles upon a talk show featuring rich infertile women who turned to Emmet Hauser, an attorney who hooked them up with surrogate mothers willing to carry babies to term. Dana looks intrigued by the prospect, then rushes upstairs to her bedroom, hovers over Adam and kisses his lips before breathily promising, "You can have a baby, Adam. You can."

Something is very wrong with this man
Original airdate: 10/14/1987
Episode summary: Alexis hooks up with Sean Rowan, aka the handsome young man who rescued her from drowning. Dana learns that she's unable to have children. Blake announces his bid to become Colorado's next governor.
At Carrington manor, Adam rants and raves to Dana about the unfavorable treatment he's been getting from Blake tonight, specifically that..
- Blake summoned Steven (and not him!) to the study for a private conversation
- Fallon (and not he!) was seated next to Blake at dinner
Dana tells her man-child of a husband that surely he's making more of this than any reasonable man should - but Adam continues to whine about not being treated as an equal by his father...then pauses for a few seconds before wondering aloud if it's 'cause Steven and Fallon have given him grandchildren. As he strides off, Dana stares worriedly into space while literally wringing her hands.
Blake tells Steven he'd like him to be his campaign manager for the governor's race - but Steven's like 'no can do' and says he has zero desire to be involved in politics, further explaining, "I have no interest in serving a society that brands me a misfit" and that he wants to direct his entire focus on his family. Blake says it sounds like there's no room for negotiation, and Steven confirms there isn't, but assures Blake that he supports his bid for governor and will definitely vote for him.
Leslie is ambling down the mansion's second floor corridor when she overhears Jeff snarking to Fallon that, yeah, he definitely thinks she's two clowns short of a circus after claiming that she rode around in a spaceship the other night. Fallon says if the situation were reversed she'd be listening to him with an open mind, to which he sarcastically-dickishly retorts, "I believe you. Let's just end it...get on with our lives" and then storms out of the room.
Blake reports to Krystle that Steven isn't interested in being his campaign manager, and admits that it's making him have second thoughts about entering the political race. Krystle reminds him it's his dream to run for office, and that she's totes into the idea of sharing the experience - not as the campaign manager, but as an adoring trophy wife who'd be more than happy to help out with logistics. Blake chews on that for a few seconds, then abruptly re-decides that, yep, he's going to stay in the race...and gushes about how he can't imagine his life without her tender loving sereneness.
"Do it! Pursue the dream you've had ever since the season premiere."
"What ever would I do without your serene wisdom?"
Back in the screening room, the handsome young man finally reveals his name to Alexis: Sean Rowan. He describes himself as a Renaissance Man, says he's never been married, and that he's the only surviving member of his family. When Alexis murmurs a sorry, he snappishly retorts, "Why? It wasn't your fault, was it?" Alexis looks weirded out by that odd response - or maybe that was just me, projecting - then thanks him again for saving her life, bids him good night, and says if he ever needs a place to stay, she'd be more than happy to provide him with a luxury suite at the Carlton Hotel (aka her official home this season). Sean brusquely makes it clear he has no interest in that, and Alexis looks put off by his blunt rudeness, then hands him the bucket of popcorn before sashaying out. Once she's safely out of hearing range, he barks at the projectionist to continue playing whatever film he had been watching...which turns out to be a news clip of Alexis testifying against Blake during his Season 2 manslaughter trial:
Alexis continues with her testimony and describes how Blake entered the bedroom, discovered her riding Roger's baloney pony, and started shouting "hideous words" at her. He then picked up a large candlestick and started beating Roger with it, nearly killing the guy. This sparks more tittering from the spectators. Alexis says that, unfortunately, the violent incident was never reported to police 'cause Blake bought off all the witnesses - in particular, a servant who was rewarded with "a lifetime membership in the Carrington household". The camera pans over to Joseph, who glances around shiftily and then smirks at Alexis.
Fallon is sitting in the mansion's conservatory, looking sad as she flashes back to when the alien motioned her to approach the spaceship, then prodded her with weird looking tools and needles. Eeeeek! Steven ambles inside the room and remarks on how unhappy she looked during the dinner party and offers to be a sounding board...and she tells him she'd like to take him up on it, but is worried that he won't believe her wild, otherworldly tale.
Alexis arrives at the Carlton Hotel and is immediately confronted by an aggressive reporter from Q&A Magazine, requesting a comment about 1) how support for her candidacy for the governor's race instantly tanked after her car accident, and 2) all the tittering that she had been driven to suicide 'cause of problems in her personal life. [Apparently she and Blake had the same dream of running for governor.] Alexis growls at the reporter to take her vile accusations and get out of her sight, and the reporter wryly mutters that she'll take that hostile response as a no comment.
After learning of Fallon's encounter with the space alien, Steven stares back at her incredulously and says he totally gets that Jeff would have a hard time believing it. He advises her to pack it all up, agree to disagree about it happening/not happening, and never speak of it again...and amen to that.
Sammy Jo is tidying up the living room when Danny runs into the room and cries that he had a bad dream. He asks where his daddy is - just as Steven returns home from the mansion, scoops him up and comforts him, then whisks him off to bed. When Steven returns to the living room, Sammy Jo says they need to talk, on account of she's still somehow extremely confused about the status of their re-coupling. She cites as a case in point their outing at Blake's dinner party, which they attended as a couple - but then didn't leave as a couple. She further frets about not being able to make heads or tails out of their relationship, e.g. should she abruptly turn off all sense of care and concern for him? In response to her confounding cluelessness, Steven calmly explains the following..
- He stayed late at the mansion tonight 'cause he wanted to speak privately with Fallon
- He doesn't want her to not care or be concerned about him, 'cause they're co-parenting Danny and it'd be nice if they liked each other
- He hopes she won't continue to be personally disappointed about them never hitting the sheets again, given that he's made no secret of the fact that he's now a fully outed gay man and therefore no longer into the idea of having sex with women
Sammy Jo mulls that over and tells him she's expending her limited brain power to do her best to grasp the uncomplicated reality that he's gay, and Steven's all, "OK, whatever. Let's go in the kitchen and make ourselves a snack." Lol..
"I'm somehow still not sure how to interpret our possibly but maybe not romantic relationship."
"Maybe this will clear it up: I'm gay. We're platonic."
At dawn the next morning, Sean is thrashing around his bed while having a dream that involves gunshots. He wakes up in a sweat and stares moodily into space.
Over at Carrington manor, politico Bill Cochrane express how utterly thrilled he is that Blake has firmly decided to run for governor, then goes on to wank Krystle about what a fine First Lady she'll make. He advises Blake to hold a press conference this afternoon to formally announce his candidacy (his Denver Carrington office is deemed a good enough venue), then delicately asks Blake if there's anything scandalous that could ever come to light. Blake assures him that, as far as anything resembling a sex scandal (ew), he only has one woman in his life. Krystle smiles serenely and assures Bill that she's in no way offended by the candid question, then rushes off to Denver Carrington to set up for the press conference.
Dr. Davis calls Dana to reschedule her appointment from 2pm to 4pm - just as Adam bounds into her office to giddily announce that Blake has invited them to attend his 'I'm running for governor' announcement at 4pm. He saucily suggests they go home and hit the sheets until 4pm, then gets weirdly excited at the prospect of her conceiving a child on the day of the big announcement, 'cause it might cement that grandchild as Blake's favorite. Dana shoots him an irritated stink-eye and asks if he mostly wants a child 'cause of his unresolved daddy issues, and Adam refrains from admitting that, yep, that's exactly why he wants her to produce their spawn...and instead hugs her and says he merely wants their children to be equal members of the Carrington family's next generation.
"It sounds like you mostly want to have a child in order to please your daddy."
"Yes it does."
Back at the Carlton Hotel, a manservant enters Sean's suite to deliver a newly laundered outfit for him to wear while he lunches with Alexis. Sean asks where his other clothes are, and the manservant calmly explains that Alexis had ordered him to dispose of the ratty wardrobe...and Sean gets really pissy-bitchy about her presumptuousness, which is probably not an entirely unreasonable reaction.
Sean storms into Alexis's (unlocked!) suite and yells that he doesn't like being manipulated...or having all of his clothes tossed into the garbage. He rails that she comes on so strong 'cause of how rich and powerful she is - but makes clear, "I'm nobody's puppet!" while also conceding that she intrigues him. When he says he doesn't want her gratitude for having saved her life, she asks him what he does want, so he leans in for a smooch, barks, "Look at me!" (eeeek) and plants her lips with a hard kiss. The two then stare at each other in fascinated horniness before feverishly undressing one another.
Later, while sprawled naked atop the bed, Alexis coos about how much she loooooves his aggressive grab-handsy-ness. He tells her he once had an aunt who only wore sleeveless clothes so her husband could stroke her arms "whenever the mood struck", and Alexis doesn't find that anecdote at all troubling and says she really digs his deranged sensuality (a trait he apparently inherited from his father). Alexis gets a call from her paper's editor, who informs her that Blake is holding a press conference at Denver Carrington in less than an hour - but has no idea what it's regarding. Alexis orders him to get over there asap, and that she'll throw on some clothes and get there soon too. She then tells Sean she's off to see what Blake Carrington is up to - but hopes that he'll hang around her suite and eagerly await her return.
Alexis arrives at Denver Carrington and asks what in blazes is going on, so Krystle amiably tells her that Blake called a press conference to announce his candidacy for the governor's race. Alexis snaps, "Blake? Governor?!" and bitchily reminds Krystle that she doesn't like surprises. Krystle politely points out that it wouldn't be a surprise had she not left the dinner party so early, and Alexis pretends that she did so 'cause the champagne was flat, the caviar mushy, and the company dull. She then whirls around on her heel and storms out, running into Adam in the reception area. She rails to him about Bill Cochrane cutting her loose (as a mayoral candidate) in favor of Blake, and Adam's like, "Sucks to be you" and wonders aloud where Dana is. Alexis says that maybe she's at her appointment with Dr. Davis, and Adam perks up at the mention of the fertility specialist and dashes into the next available elevator.
"Surprise! Blake's running for governor."
"I hate surprises...almost as much as I hate your third-rate champagne and caviar."
Dr. Davis tells Dana he has the results of her bloodwork, X-rays, and sonogram...and that the verdict is in: no way in hell can she ever birth a live human baby. Dana looks as though she's about to choke and asks him if he's absolutely truly 100% sure about this, so he clarifies, "From what I can see, you cannot have a baby" - just as the camera pans over to a shocked looking Adam, who's standing in the [for some reason open] doorway of the exam room crying, "Wha-a-a-at?!" Incidentally, his reaction probably shouldn't have made me laugh as hard as I did.
Press conference! Bill Cochrane introduces Blake to the press as "a man who will do great things for Colorado", and then Blake drones on about how the people are the soul of the state, blah blah. Sean, meanwhile, is watching the speech on TV in Alexis's hotel suite...and when she returns looking all out of sorts, she pouts, "They dumped me for him!" He asks her what she wants with politics when she has power and, well, everything...and when she complains, "Not everything", he roughly yanks her towards him again and growls, "You're right. This is" before rough smooching her. He then suggests they go out for dinner, and says he's decided to hang around Denver so he can enjoy her retaliation against Blake et. al. ... and she giddily gushes about how glad she is that she didn't let him get away. As she sashays over to the en suite to change, he continues to watch the end of Blake's press conference and angrily mutters, "Nobody gets away. Nobody."
Oh dear.

Fallon prepares to greet a non-earthling
Original airdate: 10/8/1987
Episode summary: Fallon tells Jeff about her visitation with an extraterrestrial being, which he assumes is just a hallucination. Blake announces that he's running for governor. Steven glumly broods about his stabbing of Matthew.
That evening, Steven is sitting in the dark in his mansion bedroom, staring at the bloody shirt that's on his lap. Blake pops in to check on how he's doing, assures him that everything will be OK, and to hand over the bloody shirt 'cause it's weird that he's just sitting there, moodily staring at it.
Blake takes the shirt downstairs to the study and growls, "Damn it, Matthew. Why?!" before tossing it into the fire. A few seconds later, Gerard enters the room to inform Blake that the household staff is declining to take any time off, 'cause they'd much prefer to spend their lives scraping and bowing before the Carrington family instead of enjoying some much deserved "me time" after suffering the ordeal of being hostages.
Blake wanders over to the vestibule and greets Fallon and Jeff when they happen to arrive at that very moment. When Fallon asks Blake why he looks so stressed, he says he'll tell them all about it over a cup of coffee.
In the next scene, Fallon clucks sympathetically once she's heard the entirety of the hostage story. After Jeff announces that he's off to bed, Blake asks Fallon if she's OK 'cause she seems kinda off, and she assures him that everything in her world is perfectly fine.
Upstairs, Jeff bitchily asks Fallon to tell him exactly what happened in the desert the other night, and she says she'd be happy to reveal all - but only when he's in less of a pissy mood.
Krystle drops by Steven's room to see how he's doing, and he glumly mumbles, "Matthew's dead. I killed him." Krystle tells him she's sooooooo sorry he had to take control of the rescue, and somehow feels responsible for Matthew's unexpected return from the Peruvian jungle. Steven concurs that the nut was unhealthily fixated on her and got it into his head that he was going to take her to a magical fantasy world that probably "only existed in his mind". He urges Krystle to not blame herself, and both agree that Hostage-taking Matthew was definitely not the same as Season 1 Matthew. Krystle reminisces about how he (Steven) was her first friend in the Carrington mansion all those years ago, and then encourages him to seek out whatever psychiatric help he might need in order to move past his stabbing of Matthew. Steven tells her he appreciates her concern, but insists that he doesn't need any professional help.
"You should go to a shrink."
"I'd much prefer to let the psychological trauma fester until it completely destroys my soul."
In the next scene, we see that Fallon is aboard a private plane, en route to Los Angeles.
At a Los Angeles medical centre, Fallon tells her shrink about her alien desert adventure, which she realizes is far too crazy for anyone to believe. She's particularly concerned that Jeff will think she's lost her mind...and the doctor concedes that, yep, for most people it is going to stretch the credulity of what is reasonably comprehendible.
Over at Denver Carrington, Blake is in a lunch meeting with Jeff and a politico named Bill about a possible run for governor. Bill wanks Blake about his awesome vision and the tremendous qualities he'd bring to a governorship - a sentiment with which Jeff whole-heartedly agrees. Blake tells them he'll carefully contemplate the issue...and once Bill leaves and is safely out of earshot, Blake confides to Jeff that he's always dreamed of being the governor of Colorado.
Morgan Hess tells Alexis he's having difficulty locating her mystery man, who appears to have moved out of his cabin minutes before he (Morgan) got there. Alexis urges him to keep searching...then has a flashback of when she found the mystery man chopping wood during the season premiere. A few minutes later, Blake drops by her office to express his concern that Steven is hiding a lot of pain and refuses to get professional help for his PTSD. Alexis scrunches her face in distaste at the idea of her son going to a psychiatrist, but then agrees to meet up with him to see if he'd be willing to open up to her.
Fallon tells Jeff she's now ready to tell the tale of her close encounter of the third kind. She narrates the experience during a flashback of her desperately trying to call for help on her car phone - before her car lights abruptly shut off before and the vehicle gets filled with a very bright light. She assumed someone had arrived to help her, so she climbed out of the car, and was drawn to look upwards. She recalls, "What I saw coming out of the sky...no, it couldn't be. But I could see it clearly. It was a spaceship." She tells Jeff she wanted to run away while simultaneously being intrigued to the point that she was paralyzed. As she stared at the descending spaceship in utter disbelief, the panel door opened, and a shadowy figure appeared and motioned at her to enter. She felt helplessly drawn to it...and within a few seconds, she was inside the spaceship, face-to-face with the extraterrestrial being. When the spaceship took off with her in it (!), she recalls, "I was never more at peace." A dumbfounded Jeff mutters, "My God.." and stares back at her with a look of horrified incredulity.
After the commercial break, Fallon urges Jeff to say something, and he tells her he didn't expect to hear a minute-by-minute account of her boarding a spaceship. Fallon continues recounting her experience, which apparently included the terror of being examined with needles. Jeff looks particularly irked by that tidbit and criticizes that she couldn't have felt at peace and been terrified. Fallon explains that she somehow felt both emotions all at once, insists that it did happen, and that she really really wants to share her otherworldly encounter with him - preferably without his snide bitchitude. Jeff comes right out and says he's pretty sure she must have hallucinated the whole thing, condescendingly urges her to get some rest, and announces that he's off to the hospital to visit Dex.
"Is that a - ?"
Yep
"You think I'm mad as a hatter, don't you."
"Correction: madder than a hatter."
At the hospital, Leslie literally bumps into Jeff while the two are on their way to Dex's room. They flip a coin to see who gets to go in first...and Leslie wins, leaving Jeff to saunter off. She enters the hospital room and finds Dex bare chested as he exercises on a weight machine. She shows him all the paperwork she's been working on for the pipeline project, and he's so impressed with her can do attitude that he appoints her interim project manager while he recuperates from his gunshot injury.
While strolling around a park, Alexis gently asks Steven if he's OK, and he says he can't get his brain around the fact that he killed a man he was once friends with...adding that he didn't even fully realize he had stabbed Matthew until Blake took the knife out of his trembling hand. Alexis points out that he was forced to make a tough decision 'cause the police were clearly not going to do a damn thing...and that since it was the right decision, he shouldn't condemn himself for it. She urges him to face his emotions by talking about the trauma with trusted friends and family - but Steven glumly retorts that he'll never get away from the terrible reality that he killed a man [who badly needed killing] and has to live with it.
Steven returns to the Lankershim-Blaisdel bunkhouse, stares down at the chalk outline of where Matthew's corpse had lain, and has an audio flashback of Matthew's voice warning that he doesn't have the kind of toughness it takes to survive in Blake Carrington's world.
In the next scene, Steven is in his jeep, barrelling down a winding road while Matthew's audio warning runs through his head in an endless loop. Steven suddenly hits the gas and heads dangerously close to the edge of a cliff - but then abruptly puts on the brakes just in time to avoid certain death and defiantly mutters, "You're wrong, Matthew. I can survive."
Back at the mansion, Blake tells Krystle how pensive he is about The Steven Situation, along with the challenges of running for governor. Krystle urges him to brush his worries aside, and enjoy tonight's celebratory dinner party and the comfort of so much familial togetherness. Blake concedes that he's thankful to have so many friends, family, and the love of a good woman...especially since he came so close to losing them all. He then "jokingly" suggests that the two of them take Kristina and run off to some sort of earthly paradise together...and Krystle says she loooooves that idea - but also knows that he harbors a dream of becoming Colorado's next governor and urges, "Just do it."
Newly returned from the Hawaii honeymoon, Adam wonders aloud what on earth Jeff and Fallon are doing in Denver...and worries that they were somehow angling to get closer to Blake while he was out of town. Dana chides him for overreacting about his sister's return...then looks icked out when he starts nattering about the two of them starting a very large family. After he exits the room, she immediately gets on the phone and leaves Dr. Davis a message to return her call.
Leslie returns to the mansion and runs into Jeff...and the two look surprised to discover that they're both living under the same roof.
At Delta Rho, Sammy Jo is yelling at a reporter who somehow got inside of her home - just as Steven arrives. Steven bitchily admits that, yeah, he's the one who killed Matthew Blaisdel, stupidly adding that he'd stab the freak again under the same circumstances. After he orders the reporter to get out, he turns his attention to Sammy Jo and tells her he now realizes how much he needs her and Danny in his life on a daily basis. He offers to move back to Delta Rho...and Sammy Jo brightens at that prospect - but then visibly deflates when he firmly states that there'll be no hanky panky and that he wants his own bedroom. He tells her to speak up now if she's unable to handle a platonic relationship, and she just stares back at him in mute contemplation.
"I don't want you to be my beard-wife, like Claudia once was."
"It'd be no bother, given that I seem to have no better prospects on the horizon."
Alexis makes her grand entrance at Carrington manor, telling Blake and Krystle, "I wouldn't miss your pot roast for the world." Lol.
As the family mixes and mingles, Alexis gushes to Fallon about how wonderful she looks, and Fallon assures her mom that she's A-OK. Steven arrives with Sammy Jo in tow, happily greets everyone, and proposes a toast to the entire Carrington clan, who's alive and well [after coming so dangerously close to being blown up by dynamite].
Dana and Alexis are informed that they each have a phone call...and Alexis deliberately eavesdrops on Dana's call with Dr. Davis as they arrange a 2pm appointment for tomorrow. Alexis then takes her call, which is from Morgan Hess, informing her that he finally found her handsome rescuer. She's all, "Yippee!" and tells Blake and Krystle that she has to run off.
Fallon steps away from the party to pensively stare out the window, and a few seconds later, Jeff follows her and urges her to rejoin the party. Fallon insists that they need to talk more about her spaceship encounter - but Jeff flatly says he really really doesn't want to, and outright says he thinks she's gone nutso-cuckoo. When she stares back at him with a crestfallen expression, he throws her a bone by sighingly asks her to describe the alien, so she says his skin was leathery, and that he smelled of cinnamon. Jeff jokingly asks if he was baking [a cinnamon loaf perhaps?], and Fallon angrily accuses him of making fun of her alien visitation and flounces back to where the party is in full swing.
Blake asks for everyone's attention for a special announcement: he's decided to officially run for governor. Everyone squeals happily and gathers around to give him a congratulatory hug.
The handsome young man who rescued Alexis is in a screening room, watching a video about a trial (which I can only assume involves a Carrington) when a couple of waiters wheel in a fancy looking dinner. He stares at them confusedly and asks what the hell this is...but they remain mute before hastily exiting the room. Alexis then steps in, still wearing her silver '80s party dress, and clutching a bag of popcorn. She stares at him all seductive-like before sashaying over and asking him if he'd like some champagne and popcorn, aka "the perfect appetizer" ... and he responds by looking haplessly intrigued by her brazen flirtiness.

"Dear Diary,
Today my body became one with my mistress, while my wife remains stuck in a sanitarium."
Original airdate: 9/30/1987
Episode summary: Steven takes matters into his own hands and puts an end to Matthew Blaisdel's hostage-taking mayhem. Alexis hires Morgan Hess to investigate the handsome young stranger who saved her life. Adam informs Dana that he expects her to birth many Carrington heirs.
Steven is driving with Matthew in the passenger seat...while the other hostages are being forcibly ferried by the goons in various other cars. When Steven asks where they're going, Matthew describes his ultimate destination as a magical place that Blake would never want him to see - a place to which he intends to take his beloved Krystle. Steven's all, "Er, OK..?" and warns that he's in a lot of trouble and really needs to release the hostages asap, but Matthew makes it clear that that ain't going to happen.
Over at the hospital, the doctor tells Blake and the police chief that they removed a bullet from Dex's back, and that he'll be unconscious for the next hour or so.
Alexis summons Morgan Hess to her ColbyCo office to find out everything he possibly can about the handsome young stranger who rescued her from drowning during the previous episode. Morgan mulls it over and decides that since it's not her "usual dirty linen" type investigative job, he's A-OK looking into this Good Samaritan.
Over at a Mojave Desert checkpoint office, Jeff hovers worriedly over Fallon as she starts to regain consciousness. She tells Jeff she remembers driving out to this remote area (for no apparent reason) ... and when it started to get dark, she saw something very odd that she felt strangely drawn to. She then closes her eyes and falls back asleep, and the doctor tells Jeff that, after being stranded in the desert all night, Fallon is lucky to have not suffered anything more serious than normal fatigue.
As Dex recovers from his injury, he tells Blake that Matthew began to get rough with Leslie, and that he did his best to stop it before crashing through a patio door and sprinting across the back lawn in a desperate attempt to get help - but then heard a gunshot and lost consciousness. And despite him not being conscious and laying incapacitated at the far end of the back lawn, he somehow recalls that Matthew ordered his goons to get everyone out of the mansion and onto what he described as "rugged terrain" associated with the initials LB. Blake chews on that for a few seconds and deduces that Matthew must have nonsensically dragged everyone over to the old Lankershim-Blaisdel oil excavation site.
"My supersonic hearing could be the thing that resolves this short-term crisis."
"Implausible, but yet impressive."
"We hadn't planned it that way, it just happened. Went out dancing. When we got back to her apartment I found myself taking her into my arms, kissed her for the first time. Then we made love. Our bodies one."
Matthew tenderly tells Krystle he wants them to be happy like that again and assures her that she'll be so blissfully delighted when they arrive at his fantasy wonderland. A few seconds later, they hear the sound of a chopper approaching - and the camera pans over to Blake, who's in the chopper with the police, pointing at the ground and verifying that those are his cars parked outside of the Lankershim-Blaisdel bunkhouse.
Matthew rushes outside - just as the chopper hastily retreats so that the police can gather up more manpower. Matthew makes a beeline over to a nearby property owned by a rural yokel named Larry. Matthew reminds Larry that, back in the day, he gave lots of business to his dad (Willie), and in exchange he'd like a small favor: two cases of dynamite. Larry scrunches his dumb face and says he's supposed to file for a permit prior to acquiring dynamite - 'cause it's, uh, fucking dynamite - but Matthew says he has no time for that kind of bureaucracy and really really needs something explosive to clear out the stubborn rock from his [long defunct] oil well. He then pulls out a large wad of cash, which causes Larry to instantly perk up.
The listless hostages are sitting around a a table and picking at food when Matthew (along with his goon) enters the bunkhouse carrying two boxes of what I can only assume is the dynamite Larry just sold him. When Matthew tells the group that there's plenty more food available, Leslie snappishly retorts that she doesn't want his food, then rails at him for giving the order to shoot Dex. Matthew snappishly rejoins that he got shot 'cause he tried to escape, then exits the bunkhouse. Leslie throws a chair at the door while shrieking, "You monster!" ... and when Steven urges her to chill the fuck out, she barks back that he should be racking his brain to come up with a violently effective solution that can get them out of this pickle. Steven calmly says he'd much prefer to reason with Matthew, to which Leslie cries, "He's a lunatic!" and warns that if he doesn't do something quick, they all could die...including Danny, aka the son he's been letting down his whole life. As Sammy Jo hotly denies that stinging rebuke, Krystle rushes over to chide them for letting Matthew cause division among them, and assures them that Blake will surely rescue them from this ongoing nightmare.
Matthew and his goon, meanwhile, are busy rigging the front of the bunkhouse with bundles of dynamite.
Across the continent in Honolulu, Adam and Dana frolic back to their hotel room after a carefree morning at the beach. Dana suggests they go downstairs for a honeymoon lunch - but Adam says in his weirdly intense gravelly voice that he'd much prefer to order room service after indulging in yet another marital doink. Dana nervously titters, "You're insatiable!" ... and after the two smooch, he coos about how much he looooooves her for the many children/heirs she's going to produce. Dana stares back at him with a troubled expression and says they have a lot to decide before starting a family, and he responds by putting his hands on either side of her face while breathily declaring, "The first thing I want is a baby" and then repeats what he just said while Dana starts to look visibly put out.
"Now that we're married, I want to impregnate you repeatedly."
"Sounds fun."
Matthew forcibly returns Leslie to the bunkhouse, where a goon grabs her and holds a knife to her throat. Steven intervenes and urges Leslie to express her deep regret at trying to escape, and Matthew seems satisfied enough with her under-duress apology and stabs the knife into a nearby wall.
After Fallon gets an adequate amount of rest in the Mojave Desert checkpoint station, she and Jeff stop in at a local convenience store. A puzzled Jeff remarks on the unscuffed condition of her heeled boots, which seems to contradict her story about having wandered around aimlessly for hours the night before. He says it feels as though she's keeping something from him and asks her if she's regressing back to her 'my name is Randall 'cause I don't remember my real identity' phase...and Fallon scrunches her face in annoyance and says she's not lying about being unable to fully recall what happened last night. Jeff back pedals and suggests they find a motel so that she can get some more rest, and she agrees - but continues to look irked and discombobulated.
Alexis gets a call informing her that her family members are currently being held hostage. She's all, "Wha-a-a-a?" and says she'll be at the remote bunkhouse pronto.
Back at the bunkhouse, Gerard does his best to comfort a distressed Jeannette...and then the two talk about all the fun things they've been meaning to do - picnics, ice skating - but never made time for 'cause they were so busy spending every waking moment serving the Carringtons. An emboldened Gerard tells Jeannette he never had the courage to tell her how much he digs her, then bravely declares, "I love you" and Jeannette stares back at him tearfully and makes it clear that she digs his love declaration. Sweet!
Matthew summons Steven atop a rocky peak and says he'd looooove for him to come along to the magical place he plans to resettle in with Krystle - but Steven reminds him he has a son to take care of in Denver. Matthew places his pistol on a large rock to see if Steven is at all tempted to pick it up and shoot him...but when Steven doesn't take the bait, Matthew sneeringly says he doesn't have the kind of heartless gumption it takes to make it in Blake Carrington's world. He then picks up his pistol and says he needs to return to the bunkhouse to tell Krystle something uber important.
Matthew breaks it to Krystle that Blake had expressly given him his blessing to take her to Peru, then pointedly asks her about the state of their marriage, meaning do they still do the no pants dance from time to time? A mortified Krystle mutters that, yeah, they sometimes copulate whenever they find themselves laying atop the marital bed together, fibbing that he (Matthew) is the truly one she most craves in the sack...and with that said, Matthew smugly decrees, "It's settled. You'll leave with me." Krystle says she'll go anywhere with him, but only if he agrees to leave Kristina behind with Blake...and Matthew senses nothing amiss with that desperate sounding request and coos about how happy they're going to be in his magical fantasyland, and that maybe they'll even have a child of their own. Krystle refrains from reminding him that that ship has likely sailed 'cause by now she's in her mid-forties...and Matthew leans in for a smoochfest - but is suddenly interrupted by the police chief, who orders him through a bullhorn to surrender 'cause the bunkhouse is surrounded by law enforcement.
"How often do and Blake hit the sheets?"
"I'm going to go with: mercifully infrequently."
In a California motel, Fallon is drawn to the window when she thinks she sees bright flashing lights from behind the curtain. It's at that point that she fully recalls the otherworldly events of the previous night: after driving to the Mojave Desert for no explained reason, she encountered a giant spaceship. (You heard me.) The aircraft hovered over her for a few seconds before parking itself a few feet away from her car...and when the panel door thing opened, an alien appeared and gestured at her to enter. Jeff eventually notices that Fallon is intensely staring out the motel room window and asks her whassup, and she tells him she wants to go home, as in Denver.
"OMG. Are the Dynasty writers really..?"
Jumping the shark in the form of an alien visitation? Yes, Fallon. Yes they are.
Larry races onto the scene and tells the police that he'd been duped into illegally selling Matthew two boxes of dynamite, so Steven decides he needs to take charge of the situation, not least 'cause the dozens of police who are on-site are just milling around doing absolutely fuck all, and storms back into the bunkhouse. Steven boldly tells Matthew he's here to stop this madness now...and after ordering Blake to pull the wires from the ready-to-explode dynamite, he grabs the knife that Matthew had earlier stabbed into the wall and plunges it into Matthew's torso. A fatally wounded Matthew stares back at him incredulously and murmurs, "You surprise me, Steven", then collapses to the floor and dies instantly. As Steven stares down at his corpse in stunned bewilderment, Blake gently takes the knife from his trembling hand.

Even Matthew seems aware that his brain isn't firing on all cylinders
Original airdate: 9/23/1987
Episode summary: Matthew continues to hold a large group of people hostage in Carrington manor. Alexis is rescued after her car plunges into a river. Adam and Dana jet to their honeymoon destination.
Back at the mansion, Matthew Blaisdel and his Peruvian goons continue to hold everyone hostage in one of the sitting rooms. Blake stews for several seconds before springing up from the couch and striding across the room to pound on the door while demanding that Matthew release them...and one of the goons yells at him to sit back down.
The handsome young man pulls Alexis out of the water, and we see that she's still clad in her frothy pink party gown. The handsome young man's life-saving CPR consists of pressing on her back until she starts coughing (somehow without any water coming out of her mouth) and breathing normally.
Back at the mansion, Kristina tells her mom she's vewy afwaid that the bad man is going to take her (Krystle) away, and this prompts Danny to freak out and ask Steven if the bad man is going to shoot them. Steven does his best to weakly assure the tot that, despite the many pistols that Matthew's odd goon friends keep waving around, no one is going to get shot.
In the study, Matthew is sitting behind Blake's desk and swigging what I'll assume is some kind of medicine from a tiny bottle. He then rubs his head as if he's suffering a terrible migraine.
Krystle tells Steven she thinks that Matthew has more than a screw loose - just as two of the goons burst into the room and order Blake to follow them over to the study. When Blake enters the study, he finds Matthew studying a framed photo of him (Blake) and Krystle. Matthew smugly points out to Blake that he had cleverly planned this home invasion on a weekend so that no one at Denver Carrington would expect to hear from him for a few days...then makes it clear that when he departs the mansion, he's taking Krystle with him. Blake growls, "You're going to have to kill me first", to which Matthew chucklingly replies, "If I have to." He then orders Blake to light up the fireplace, then takes the Blake/Krystle photo out of the frame, rips it into two, and burns the Blake half.
"Taking Krystle is going to mean neutralizing me in some terrible way."
"I consider that a pro, not a con."
Matthew applauds his captives for being mostly cooperative, then shares that his goons are part of the general group of people who saved him from dying in the Peruvian jungle all those years ago. To return the favor, he taught them and their families better ways to grow their crops and live their lives...and they all bonded to the point where they'd happily die for one another. Unimpressed by the fantastical story, Leslie demands to see Dex, who was injured in the initial attack, to which Matthew barks, "Later!" and once again rubs his sore head. He makes it clear that they're all confined to this room (unless accompanied by one of his goons), and warns against any escape attempts. He then bends down and coos at Kristina about what a cutie patootie she is - prompting an alarmed Blake to tell Matthew that he has some jewelry in his bedroom safe that surely he'd be interested in looking at right now. Matthew perks up at that and decrees that Krystle be the one to accompany him...and when Blake tries to physically lunge at Matthew to prevent him from forcing Krystle to go with him, the goons restrain him and hold a knife to his throat.
As Matthew forcibly escorts Krystle upstairs, she asks about Lindsay, then clucks sympathetically when Matthew tells her that his daughter didn't survive the jungle crash. Confoundingly, Matthew then declines to show even the slightest interest in Lindsay's mom's tortured life between the end of Season 1 and her subsequent death by fire, and instead changes the subject to all the times that they (he and Krystle) would secretly meet up at his apartment to hit the sheets. Krystle plays along by faux fondly reminiscing about how much she loved his kindness and gentleness - but that it's all water under the bridge 'cause of how happy she is with her life now. Matthew grumbles that Blake steals other men's oil and women, then tries to caress her face - but Krystle snaps her head away. Blake, meanwhile, has managed to escape the sitting room and storms into the bedroom with one of the goons in close pursuit. Matthew orders the goon to exit, then tells Blake that since he's here he might as well open the safe. Blake complies and pulls out a large velvety bag of expensive looking jewelry...but when he reaches back inside the safe for his gun, Matthew is too quick and swiftly grabs it away from him.
Later, Matthew drops by the room where Dex is recovering from his injuries sustained when he fought off the goons during the initial attack. Matthew remarks on what a decent man (his father) Sam Dexter is, then stares wild-eyed into space as he poetically natters about the impromptu party he's throwing in order to celebrate his return to Carrington manor:
The scarred, wondrous journey was nearing its end
He called for a festival
And all the tribes did attend.
As Matthew looks almost bemused by his own nutbaggery, Dex reacts by scrunching his face perplexedly.
Downstairs, Matthew orders that champagne be served, then amuses himself by forcing the housekeeping staff to wear the expensive jewelry that Blake just pulled out of his safe. When he holds up the necklace Krystle pawned in Season 1 in order to help keep his oil rig functioning and tells her to wear it, Krystle declines...and for the umpteenth time this episode, Blake lunges at Matthew in protest - but is stopped by Steven. A few seconds later, the phone rings, and Matthew takes the call and learns that a reporter from The Chronicle is interested in interviewing Blake about his plans to enter the upcoming governor's race, a revelation which prompts Matthew to stare into space with an expression of puzzlement.
Over at the hospital, Alexis regains consciousness and is all 'where am I? How did I get here?', so the nurse informs her that she was rescued by a super hot young stud, who left the hospital once she was safely admitted. Alexis stares confusedly into space as she digests that fascinating tidbit, then falls back asleep.
"Where on earth did this Good Samaritan, who rescued me from drowning, come from?"
"No idea - but he was hot as fuck."
Across the country near the Mojave Desert, the local sheriff pulls up next to Fallon's abandoned car. He looks around perplexedly, then seats himself in the driver's seat and uses the car phone to report Fallon MIA. He then looks around and calls her name, but gets no response.
After Kristina nods off, Blake and Krystle put on a show of pretending to argue, in an effort to fool Matthew into thinking that there's something amiss in their marriage. After Matthew leaves the room, Blake covertly explains to Steven and Dex that he just cobbled together in his brain a genius plan to get them out of this predicament:
- Make Matthew think there's a sudden wedge between himself and Krystle
- Offer Matthew the use of a private Denver Carrington jet to ferry him, Krystle, and his goons to Peru
- Convince Matthew that he can get him a lot of money from his fat-cat friends - but that it's something he can only do face-to-face
- Assuming Matthew buys the above, Blake will go straight to the police
- Steven and/or Dex will somehow get Matthew to stand on the west terrace for a private conversation at 7:45am sharp, at which time a police officer will open fire on him ... "one single shot, and that's it"
Dex is like, "That plan is just crazy enough to work!" and assures Blake he'll do his best to help make it a success, while Steven clucks sympathetically about the very real possibility of poor deranged Matthew getting killed.
Over in the study, Matthew is slumped in the chair by the fireplace and is sipping from his little bottle again when Blake enters the study and fibs that he no longer gives the tiniest of rat's asses if Krystle continues living at the mansion or jets off to Peru with him (Matthew) - as long as she leaves Kristina behind. Matthew likes the sound of jetting back to Peru with his beloved and orders Blake to get on the phone with his pilot...and Blake complies while Matthew listens on the other extension. He looks satisfied enough with the call, then decides that, yep, it'd be a good idea to allow Blake to leave the mansion (while escorted by one of his goons) for the next several hours to gather up a large pile o' cash. He barks at Blake to be back at the mansion by 8:00am.
Alexis climbs out of her hospital bed and rummages around the closet for her clothes. When the nurse enters the room and urges her to get back into bed, she insists on leaving so that she can go find the hottie who saved her life.
Back in California, more police cruisers arrive at the site of Fallon's disappearance. The sheriff informs Jeff that Fallon had called for help from her car phone...but by the time he arrived, she was nowhere to be found. Jeff berates him for not searching the area hard enough, then storms back to his car to conduct his own search. After driving for a few seconds, he manages to locate her laying unconscious in front of a set of wrought iron gates. He's all, "Faaaaaaallon!" and picks her up and carries her over to his car.
"Your wife has seemingly vanished from her car and into thin air."
"Nooooo! Last time my wife disappeared this way she was horribly recast."
Blake is driving his car with Matthew's goon in the passenger seat...and when he spots a police car parked in front of a diner, he deliberately crashes into it. The police officer races over and angrily declares him under arrest, and Blake's like, "Good! Now take me to headquarters!"
At the police station, Blake explains to several detectives that a madman is holding his friends and family hostage at Carrington manor. The detectives assure him they'll do everything possible to rescue everyone.
Alexis manages to locate the handsome young man who saved her (apparently by asking a ranger about any locals who match his description) while he's outside of his cabin, chopping wood. She tells the handsome young man she's extremely grateful to him for fishing her out of the water and administering the weakest form of CPR ever to be dramatized on primetime TV, and then introduces herself - but he just shrugs disinterestedly, says, "I know your name, Mrs. Colby", and tells her to go away 'cause he has a lot of wood chopping to do.
Leslie whispers to Sammy Jo that she wants to attempt a half-assed escape and has hatched a very bad plan she's ready to put into motion. She then pours herself a drink, flirtingly grins at one of the goons, and sashays over to ask him if he'd like a sip. The goon looks visibly intrigued by her as he takes a sip...and so Leslie starts cooing about how lonely he must be feeling, so far away from home. She takes his hand and leads him out of the room and into a nearby bedroom (while Dex grimly looks on). Leslie urges the man to mount her for an amorous canoodle, then reaches around for his firearm - just as Matthew suddenly appears, grabs the pistol, and snarlingly warns her to not do that again. He admonishes, "Sex is obviously some kind of plaything to you, Miss Carrington. These men have never met women like you." He then grabs her, shoves her towards the man she tried to seduce, who proceeds to backhand her across the face.
"My innocent rube gunmen have no idea that cheap floozies such as yourself even exist in the world."
"There must be at least one South American harlot these men have stumbled across."
Blake sketches a layout of the mansion to show the police chief where the west terrace is, and says that Matthew is going to be lured onto it this morning. He specifies, "That's where Blaisdel has gotta be picked off at 7:45 this morning." The chief, who seems fully onboard with taking 'shoot to kill' orders from Blake, murmurs that that timeframe doesn't give them much time - but the SWAT sniper glances at the makeshift map and assures the chief that he's pretty sure he'll get a clear shot.
Minutes later, the police quietly descend on the mansion and wait for Matthew to show himself on the west terrace. When nothing happens, Blake asks the chief if he can go inside the mansion to see whassup...and the chief's like 'you're the boss...why the hell not?' Blake ambles across the patio area, then enters the mansion and wanders around, puzzled when he sees that all the rooms are empty. He mutters, "Where is everybody?", then finds Kristina's stuffed animal abandoned in the vestibule, a troubling discovery that causes him to stare worriedly into space.

"Third soulmate's a charm."
Original airdate: 5/6/1987
Episode summary: When blood tests are inconclusive about Clay's parentage, he leaves Denver forever...and his exit is followed by Ben, Dominique, and Nick Kimball. Adam and Dana wed in a lavish ceremony at Carrington manor...and following the reception, the mansion is infiltrated by South American thugs and their apparent leader, the long lost Matthew Blaisdel.
Dana reiterates to Adam that they really need to just grit their teeth and endure all the hoopla of a Carrington mansion wedding, and he reluctantly says he'll do it - but mostly 'cause it's so important to the love of his life.
Steven gives Danny a football helmet as a special present, then breaks the news to the tot that he got a job in a different city and therefore has to leave Denver. Danny sadly says he understands, then hugs his dad and runs off...and a bemused Sammy Jo's all, "Did you really get an out-of-town job?" Steven says he was fibbing 'bout that - but that he intends on making it the truth so that Danny will think there's a compelling reason as to why his father no longer lives with them at Delta Rho. Seems somewhat nonsensical, but OK.
Late that night, a restless Krystle gets out of bed and glances out the window, and is alarmed when she sees a mystery man roaming the grounds. She wakes Blake to tell him what she just saw, so he gets out of bed and calls up his security team and orders them to sweep the property for possible intruders. Krystle races down the hall to check on Kristina, and is relieved to find her in bed, sleeping peacefully. A few minutes later, Blake tells Krystle that security assured him no alarms were tripped, and suggests that maybe she just thought she saw a mystery man. She insists she definitely did see something, then tells him about finding the weird workman in the conservatory after the rest of the workmen had finished prepping the mansion for the wedding - but Blake breezily doubts it's anything to worry about and steers her back into their bedroom.
The next day, Blake and Alexis are meeting with attorney Earl Thompson to finalize some legal paperwork they both expect will be a wonderful surprise for Adam and his future. Alexis thanks Blake for agreeing to do it, then leans in and gives him a cheek kiss. These two have really come a long way from the Season 6 finale, when Blake tried to choke the life out of Alexis after she (temporarily) acquired ownership of Carrington manor.
Clay and Oscar Goldman burst into Ben's Denver Carrington office to demand that he accompany them to the nearest blood testing clinic so that they can get to the bottom of the 'who's Clay's bio dad?' conundrum. Clay insists on learning the truth about who his father is, while Oscar grumbles that he thinks it's a dumb idea 'cause he's pretty sure he already knows the truth. Ben decides 'ah fuck it' and says he's willing to undergo the tests if it can finally put this icktastic storyline to bed.
The head of security drops by the study to show Blake something he found on the grounds: a white card with a weird insignia of a W or M, depending on which way you look at it. Blake stares at it curiously and says he has no idea what the strange symbol could mean.
While enjoying a pre-matrimonial breakfast in her mansion suite, Dana confides in Krystle about what a stressful adjustment it's been to move into Carrington manor in advance of joining Adam's dysfunctional family. She waxes on about how in love with Adam she's been for a long time...but because she never imagined she'd actually have the chance to marry the freak, she invited other men into her life and bed. She laments her non-virgin status, pointing out, "This family does seem to have a pretty strict set of rules." Krystle somehow refrains from reminding her that Adam has been married twice and no doubt enjoyed countless liaisons before the two of them hooked up, and instead tells her she had a right to live her life before settling down. She then confesses that she too had a pre-marital dalliance with a (married) lover prior to falling "madly in love" with goat daddy, and smilingly pronounces, "And from that moment, the past didn't matter."
"I regret not remaining an unsullied virgin for my wedding night."
"With that subservient attitude, you'll fit into this patriarchal family just fine."
When Leslie returns to the mansion, Ben informs her that he's leaving Dynasty immediately following Adam's/Dana's wedding. He further explains that he's graciously exiting her life in an effort to help soothe her misery after losing Clay. Leslie insists that she forgives him and pleads with him to stay - but he says he can't forgive himself...plus his usefulness on Dynasty has completely run its course now that he and Blake aren't constantly at each other's throats anymore.
Oscar Goldman is boozing while staring at a framed photo of deceased Emily and having a flashback to when she swore to him that Clay was his son as she lay dying on the street. Oscar murmurs, "I believe you, Emily" - but is secretly thrilled that he has accomplished his life's mission: ensuring that Clay is forever done hooking up with Carrington women.
Adam is summoned, along with Steven, to the study by Blake and Alexis. Blake ceremoniously hands Adam a bundle of legal papers and explains that it's a Decree of Adoption, which states that he - Adam Alexander Carrington - is entitled to inherit Carrington property and cash as if he had been Blake's/Alexis's bio child [which he could actually be - but I digress]. Adam is speechless for several seconds, profusely thanks his faux(?) parents, and promises to never again do any more fucked up shit that hurts anyone within the Carrington clan. Steven congratulates him, while Blake urges him to sign the papers so that they can all focus their full attention on today's nuptials. Adam happily obliges, and Blake smilingly says, "Welcome back, son."
Steven hangs back to inform Blake that he's made the decision to leave Denver and maybe go to the east coast (e.g. New York), where he was once happy. Blake acknowledges that his life couldn't have been easy, not least 'cause of all the homophobic hatred he's been spewing his way ever since Season 1 - but is very worried about him venturing into the big scary world in which he could so easily get infected with AIDS. Blake points out, "It's no longer just a gay disease", so Steven assures him that he's a grown ass man who's fully capable of slipping on a rubber if circumstances should arise, then needlessly clarifies, "I know about safe sex, and I know about celibacy if that becomes necessary." Blake implores him to reconsider moving, 'cause the threat of AIDS scares the bejeezus out of him...and says this as though AIDS is a not-just-gay New York disease that doesn't exist in the state of Colorado.
"I'm thinking about moving to the east cost."
"If you do that, you'll die of AIDS."
Leslie is primping in her bridesmaid gown when Dex enters the room. He clucks sympathetically about her relationship with Clay abruptly going kaput, then offers to promote her to Clay's now vacant position. Leslie hems and haws about being expected to just excise Clay from her mind, then decides that maybe having a more challenging job will help ease her broken heart and put the icky visual that she might have been knocking boots with her half-brother out of her mind.
Gavin arrives at the mansion, much to the disapproval of Dex, who demands to know what the hell he's doing here. Gavin smugly tells him that Alexis - aka his ex-wife - invited him, then makes it clear how little of a damn he gives that Dex doesn't think he belongs here.
The ceremony begins with 1) the two bridesmaids, Leslie and Sammy Jo, making their way down the staircase in their lacy pink frocks, followed by 2) Kristina (flower girl) with Danny (ring bearer), and then 3) Dana in her frothy white gown, as she's escorted down the aisle by Blake. The couple exchange vows and rings...blah blah blah...and soon the minister pronounces them husband and wife. As the two indulge in their first marital smooch, the wedding guests clap and titter happily.
"I assume you still have no qualms about marrying a deeply disturbed individual."
"To the contrary, it's all I ever dreamed of."
Over at the buffet table, Nick fixes Dominique a plate of caviar and smarmily proposes marriage. Dominique tells him that since weddings always put her in a romantic frame of mind, she's totes into the idea of them sneaking out of the mansion without a word to anyone and flying off to New York to "just do it". As an afterthought, she coos about how much she loves him, then leans in for a smooch...and that's the last we ever see of Dominique and Nick. Godspeed, newlyweds-to-be!
Ben wistfully watches Leslie as she dances with Dex, then gives Gerard a note to pass along to Blake after the wedding. He then sneaks out of the mansion, and that's the last we ever see of him too. Godspeed, Ben!
As Gavin dances with Alexis, he remarks on the torch she clearly still carries for Blake - but she denies that and points out that a woman doesn't always need to be with a man. Gavin glances across the room, sees that Dex is nearby, and plants a forcible smooch on Alexis's lips...and she reacts by angrily shoving him away from her and snarling, "When I want to be kissed, I'll let you know. And when I want to dance again, I'll let you know that too." As she storms off, Dex makes a beeline over to Gavin and tells him they need to have a private chat, and the two head over to the solarium. Dex warns Gavin to stay away from Alexis, not least 'cause he's just as big a crook as his uncle Dirk...and vows that he's not going to get a penny out of Alexis. An angry Gavin responds by taking a swing at Dex, but Dex easily knocks him down with one punch. As Gavin recovers from the blow, he mockingly says, "You might have won the fight, Dexter, but you lost the lady" ... and an incensed Dex hauls Gavin to his feet, shoves him towards the door, and snarls, "That is the way out."
Dana, meanwhile, has changed into her honeymoon suit and throws her bouquet from the landing of the staircase...and the lucky receiver is Sammy Jo, who clutches the flowers while staring wistfully at Steven. She then runs up the staircase looking visibly distressed...and Steven follows her and moans about how much he hates seeing her so unhappy. She tearfully chides him for walking out on her, says she's tired of making a fool of herself, and snappishly tells him to just leave her the hell alone.
Dex tells Alexis that he persuaded Gavin to leave the mansion by non-subtly punching him in the face...and when Alexis argues that he had no right to do that, he insists he does have that right, 'cause: "years of loving you, taking care of you." She angrily retorts that she doesn't need his protection, so he counter-retorts by needling her about what an empty shell of a life she lives, and describes her as a very lonely lady who has nothing and no one. Alexis looks deeply distraught by the critique, hisses, "Damn you!" and throws a drink in his face before storming out the back door. She climbs into a random car and squeals off, prompting one of the caterers to yell, "Hey lady, that's my car!" LOL. As she mindlessly hits the gas pedal, Dex's hurtful words run through her mind in a torturous loop, and she tears up and cries, "I don't need anybody!" She becomes so uncharacteristically overwrought by another person's opinion of her that as she drives over a long bridge at full speed, she somehow doesn't see the giant metal pole that's blocking the bridge exit. When she comes upon it, she panics and cries, "Aaaaahhh!!" and takes her hands off the steering wheel in order to shield her face from the horror of an imminent crash...and after she loses control of the car, it plunges off the bridge and into the murky water below.
To kick off the season's final scene, which seems suspiciously derivative of the Moldavian Massacre that followed the wedding of Amanda and Prince Michael, three armed South American thugs dressed in tuxedos storm into Carrington manor, needlessly manhandle Gerard, and successfully fight off an attack by Dex. Upstairs, Blake and Krystle are amiably chatting about Adam's/Dana's honeymoon plans when they hear the sound of glass breaking. Blake gets on the phone to inquire about what just happened, is puzzled when no one downstairs picks up, then tells Krystle that the phone suddenly went dead. One of the thugs bursts into their bedroom and points a gun at them...and we see that he has the weird M/W insignia thing tattooed on his wrist. He orders Blake and Krystle to go downstairs and into the study, where the thugs are in the process of herding everyone else. A few seconds later, the long lost Matthew Blaisdel - who now has an unsightly scar carved into the left side of his forehead - saunters into the room, causing a stupefied Krystle to gasp, "My God! Matthew!" When Blake growls, "You..?", Matthew nonsensically informs Blake, "I've come back for what belongs to me. What you stole from me." He then caresses Krystle's cheek and tells her that after all these years he's come back for her...and she tries not to recoil from the touch and discomfiting presence of the disfigured weirdo, and stares back at him in horrified bewilderment.
"I'm back from South America with a few screws loose."
"That will prove to be a major understatement."

Alexis puts herself back on the dating market
Original airdate: 4/29/1987
Episode summary: Clay gets icked out when he learns he may have been schtupping his half-sister. Alexis enjoys a fun night out with Gavin Maurier. Sarah Curtis has a major breakthrough in her recovery after visiting her daughter's grave.
Over in the conservatory, Alexis is directing Gerard to remove the living room furniture and put it into storage during the wedding. Krystle interrupts, asks Gerard to please go soothe Mrs. Gunnerson's ruffled feathers, and firmly reminds Alexis that she and Blake gave her permission to help plan the wedding - not insult their servants. Alexis explains that she unwittingly snubbed Mrs. Gunnerson only 'cause she prefers to work with her own caterers. Krystle insists that the caterers need to be comfortable working with the mansion's overly-sensitive kitchen staff, then declares that once the wedding is over, so is her involvement with the household and their lives...and as she storms off, Alexis grins in amusement at having caused such a kerfuffle.
Oscar Goldman drops by Denver Carrington to tell Blake that Leslie needs to stop dating Clay asap. Blake's all, "Why are you telling me this?" and advises him to go straight to Ben - but Oscar says that no good can come from him and Ben conversing, 'cause of the lame Fallmont-Carrington feud he can't seem to stop himself from perpetuating. He warns Blake that a major scandal will erupt if Leslie and Clay don't cool it, then blurts out an explanation: he's pretty sure that Clay isn't his bio son, 'cause apparently he was conceived during the time Emily was hitting the sheets with Ben while he (Oscar) was out of town campaigning. Blake's all, "Say wha-a-at?" and stares back at him in revulsed horror.
"I have reason to believe that Clay and Leslie are brother and sister."
"Ew."
Blake summons Ben to his office to tell him that Oscar Goldman just stopped by to warn him that since Clay was conceived while he was off campaigning, he can only assume that Clay is his bio son...and that the dolt has been possibly, unwittingly doinking his half-sister for the last several episodes. Ben says he doubts that that's true, not least 'cause Emily never once gave him the impression that Clay was his spawn. Blake reminds him that Leslie and Clay have gotten very cozy lately, and that the two should probably not be knockin' boots until they get to the bottom of their familial link. Ben says he's reluctant to tell Leslie any of this 'cause of how blissfully happy she is with Clay - but Blake warns that there could be icky consequences if she continues to have sex with a guy who could be her half-brother, and says that if he (Ben) doesn't tell her, then he (Blake) will have no choice but to bite the bullet and break the grotesque news to all concerned.
Blake drops by Clay's apartment and looks startled to find Leslie there. When she tells him that Clay is busy working at the pipeline job site, Blake thanks her and looks as though he can't get out of there fast enough.
Blake arrives at the pipeline job site via helicopter and rushes over to Clay, who has just pulled up in his jeep. He tells Clay that Oscar Goldman came to see him earlier with some shocking news, then spills the beans that Ben Carrington might well be his bio dad. Clay stares back at him in stunned bewilderment, then says he can only assume that Oscar is lying in a sick attempt to put the kibosh on his relationship with Leslie. He vows that Oscar won't get away with it, then hops into his jeep and drives off.
"I have reason to believe that you and Leslie are brother and sister."
"Ew."
Inside the High Meadow Sanitarium, Sarah is still too out of it to grasp that her daughter Cathy is no longer among the living. As Krystle watches from behind a two-way mirror in the adjacent room, Sarah gets visibly upset every time Dr. Miller uses the past tense when referring to Cathy. The doctor motions at Krystle to enter the room...and when she does, Sarah implores her to explain to Dr. Miller that Cathy is still alive. Krystle says she can't do that and confirms that, indeed, her child is dead - but Sarah refuses to accept that reality, accuses both women of lying, and demands proof of non-life.
In the next scene, Krystle, Sarah, and Dr. Miller are aboard a private jet, en route to Wyoming.
Leslie drops by the pipeline job site looking for Clay. She tells Dex she hasn't been able to reach him all day and is growing concerned. Dex remarks on how much she must really dig the guy to worry this much...then tells her to chillax, 'cause no doubt the two of them are going to live happily ever after [spoiler: not].
Sammy Jo arrives at Carrington manor to pick up Danny and runs into Alexis, who nonsensically calls her a fraud who enticed her gay son back into her life just so she can hurt him again. Sammy Jo stares back at her with a hurt expression, says she has no right to accuse her of something that really makes zero sense, then races upstairs to fetch her son.
Dana sneaks into Adam's office, gives him a from behind canoodle, and suggests they take an extra long lunch...like, for the rest of the day. Mmm hmm.. Adam says he wishes they could elope to Vegas and avoid all the hoopla that comes along with a big mansion wedding - but Dana argues that they couldn't/shouldn't disappoint his faux(?) family. She promises to love him for who he is (aka a possible changeling) and vows to always be there to support him. Adam chews on that for a few seconds and agrees to go through with the fancy wedding, then gives his bride-to-be a big smooch.
Over in Wyoming, Krystle and Dr. Miller accompany Sarah to a graveyard, direct her to Cathy's headstone, and urge her to face the truth so that she can start healing, like for real this time. Sarah looks down at the headstone with her daughter's name etched onto it and starts sobbing while Krystle looks on, her face scrunched empathetically.
Jackie enters the pipeline trailer office and huffily orders Nick Kimball to stop dating her mother so that she and her boring bio dad Garrett can get back together. Nick coos about how sympathetic he is to her feelings, 'cause he himself suffered through his own parents' divorce - but then insists that he loves Dominique very much and would only walk away from her if she asked him to. Jackie sobs as she implores him to prioritize the feelings of his girlfriend's immature daughter by disappearing from their lives, then yells, "Forever!" as she flees the office.
"I'd consider it a personal favor if you broke up with my ma."
"When you put it like that...definitely not."
Later at the mansion, Dominque confronts Jackie about her bitchy edict to Nick, then firmly says she really should have come to her first. Jackie wails about how much she wants her and Garrett to rekindle their non-existent flame and remarry, but Dominique makes it clear that 1) she doesn't actually love Garrett - not least 'cause he's a giant bore, 2) she'd be living a lie if she resumed their relationship, and 3) she wishes that she (Jackie) would grow the hell up and get this dumb, little girl fantasy out of her head.
Clay returns home, where Leslie has fixed them some tasty looking snacks. She happily tells him she's officially decided to move into his place, then notices his ashen-faced expression and asks whassup. He snappishly tells her he thinks they're moving too quickly and that she should put a pause on her plans to move in...and when she demands he tell her what has changed his mind all of a sudden, he reveals that Oscar Goldman claims not to be his bio dad, and that he was conceived by Ben and Emily when they were having their illicit affair. Leslie stares back at him in stunned incredulity and says that this can't possibly be true - but Clay says it's possible it be true, and that they're going to have to deal with the blechiness of them maybe having committed incest as recently as earlier that morning.
"I have reason to believe that you and I are brother and sister."
"Ew seems like way too much of an under-reaction."
Over at Delta Rho, Danny is practicing his steps for when he walks down the aisle as Adam's ring-bearer. When Steven enters the room, Danny's all, "Yippee! You came back!" - but Steven tells him he really just popped by to get a shirt for the wedding, not to stay for any length of time. Danny pouts, says he has important stuff to do in his room, and runs off...and then Sammy Jo makes it clear to Steven how unhappy she is with him for needlessly abandoning their family unit, then tearfully says that she too has important stuff to do in her room.
Dex runs into Alexis on his way inside the Carlton Hotel and thanks her for inviting him to the wedding. A few seconds later, Gavin pulls up on his motorcycle...and Dex looks on in disapproving dismay as Alexis hops onto the back of the bike and smugly chirps, "See you at the wedding!" before she and Gavin squeal off. LOL.
That evening at the mansion, Krystle tells Blake that her trip to Wyoming was very fruitful...and a few seconds later, Sarah emerges in the corridor and happily reports that she's now on the road to recovery in terms of coping with the death of her daughter (and husband!). She thanks Krystle for all of her help, asks her to say goodbye to Kristina, then heads off with Dr. Miller...never to be seen on Dynasty again. Phew.
As the Kenny Loggins' smash hit Danger Zone revvs up in the background, Gavin and Alexis zoom around Denver on his motorcycle. The two stop for dinner at a food truck called Burgers Plus, pop into an arcade to play some pinball, then boogie the rest of the night away at a dance club.
Headin' into twilight
Spreadin' out her wings tonight..
Alexis enjoys her eventful night on the town eating a hotdog...
Playing pinball at the local arcade...
And bustin' a move in da club
The following morning at the mansion, Krystle finds a mysterious looking workman in the living room, fiddling with the telephone cord [spoiler: a bad omen]. She asks whassup with him being here, so he tells her he's with the work crew, taking measurements in preparation for the wedding. A puzzled Krystle tells him he was supposed to be finished with all that yesterday...and when he just stares back at her mutely, she turns her back on him as she telephones Alexis to ask why one of her workmen is still at the mansion. Alexis is annoyed at being woken up for something she considers so trivial, then asks to speak to the workman - but when Krystle turns around, she sees that he's silently disappeared through the French doors. Alexis snappishly advises Krystle to take something for her nerves and to never call her before 9:00am again...but Krystle just continues to stare at the open French doors, her face scrunched in concerned puzzlement.

Blake and Alexis bond in their struggle to parent their grown, non-biological son
Original airdate: 4/22/1987
Episode summary: Adam confesses to Alexis and Blake that, despite no real proof, he may not be their biological son. A catatonic Sarah is transported to a private sanitarium. Alexis meets a handsome young stranger who has ulterior motives.
Alexis bursts into Blake's office to ask about the latest developments in Kristina's disappearance - and is disappointed to find that only Dana is there, standing by his desk and shuffling papers. Dana tells her that Blake is likely conferring with the police about his missing daughter, to which Alexis snarks, "I suppose you're concerned about that", then snarlingly asks her if she's also concerned about what's happening to Adam, and tells her that he was just picked up by the police after they found him lying drunk and beaten in an alley. She nonsensically tells Dana that she holds her - aka a shameless gold digger - responsible for her son's idiotic decision to get drunk and then challenge a bunch of muscular boxers to a fight, which resulted in him getting ass kicked and thrown into the drunk tank. Dana tearfully reminds Alexis that she had tried to warn everyone that something was seriously wrong with Adam - like more than usual - but no one would listen. Alexis sinks into a sofa chair as she mutely chews on that accusation for a few seconds...then admits that, yeah, Dana did try to warn them. She assures Dana that she's finally listening to her pleas, and that they need to put their heads together to figure out what in blazes is wrong with the tormented freak they both love and care for.
Adam returns to the Carlton Hotel and barks at a clerk to get him $500 (assuming to pay his bail) and charge it to his suite. After that, a bellboy approaches him and gives him a message from Alexis that he needs to call her asap...and Gordon Wales, who's been watching him from across the lobby for the last several minutes, wanders over and offers to buy him a drink while they discuss Alexis's attempted buyout of Trouville Industries. Adam snappishly replies that he's too busy at the moment, then hobbles off.
Alexis returns to her ColbyCo office and finds an angry Dirk Maurier waiting for her. When she asks him what he wants, he growls, "You really dare to ask me that?" and accuses her of "internal frauds" when she and/or one of her staff leaked info about the Trouville Industries buyout, causing the stock prices to plummet. Alexis shrugs unconcernedly and suggests they have the matter investigated - but Dirk snarks that she'll probably just whitewash the findings. He then tells her he strongly suspects Adam of being the leaker, not least 'cause he babbles a lot whenever he drinks, which is pretty much all the time these days - but Alexis insists that her son would never do such a heinous thing.
"Your son is a drunken, snivelling man who leaks."
"Correction; he's a drunken, snivelling man who's acting uncharacteristically weak."
Gordon Wales drops by Alexis's office to discuss her connection to Dirk Maurier - but she just shrugs and says that the business deal they went in on together somehow went bust...and that that's pretty much that. Gordon switches gears and asks Alexis if she has given any money to Dirk's nephew (Gavin) ... and when Alexis stares back at him blankly and says she has no idea who that is, Gordon expresses surprise that she hasn't "gotten into bed with him, financially speaking".
Over at the Carlton Hotel, Adam is poisoning his liver with more scotch and watching a TV interview with Gordon Wales. Gordon dishes about how Dirk and Alexis just lost a lot of money in their quest to take over Trouville Industries, then suggests that there must have been a leak - but from which camp? And which of the two is harboring the traitor? Adam's all, "Ack!" and hastily turns off the TV, then stares despondently into space.
Alexis is at the mansion, wondering aloud with Blake what could possibly be troubling Adam to the point that he's never not acting extremely strangely and guzzling hard liquor like he's a sailor on shore leave. She tells Blake that Dana suspects the source of his torment is somehow connected to Dr. Edwards and suggests they fly to Billings and look into it. At that moment, Adam suddenly enters the study and says, "Don't bother", tells them he's not Adam Carrington, then pours himself a drink. He clarifies that he's Michael Torrence, and that the only thing Dr. Edwards is going to confirm is that his grandmother was a sick, deluded woman who lied to him while she lay on her deathbed. He informs them that Neil McVane has accused him of being an imposter, and showed him a photo of "the real" baby Adam Carrington, who he claims - without a shred of proof - died shortly after the kidnapping. As Alexis gasps in shock, Adam sheepishly confesses that he was the source of the leak of the Trouville Industries buyout - but only 'cause Neil was blackmailing him. He then sadly decrees that since he doesn't share their DNA, he really doesn't belong in their lives...and self-piteously wishes that he'd died in the car crash that killed his [supposed] biological parents. Blake points out that he's in no condition to go anywhere and implores him to stay and hash this out some more - but Adam moans, "This has been tearing at my gut. I'm nothing. I'm nobody." After he dejectedly shuffles off, Alexis presses herself against Blake and remarks in a low, poutish whisper, "It's as if we've lost the same son twice."
"I have to get out of Denver."
"But - if you do that, we'll be left with just Steven."
Dana drops by Steven's apartment to ask if he's heard from Adam, then nonsensically blames herself for everything that transpired between him and Neil McVane - but Steven points out that she couldn't possibly have known about Neil's ill-fated blackmail scheme. Dana moans about how she spent the entire evening going from one bar to the next in search of Adam [a sensible strategy], then phoned the police to inquire about whether anyone reported stumbling across any dead men who resemble Adam. She tells Steven that Adam once suffered a nervous breakdown and that she's extremely worried he's headed for another...so Steven promises that he's going to do everything possible to locate his faux-bro and bring him back to her.
Over at the High Meadow Sanitarium, a small team of specialists are crowded around an inert Sarah, shining a light into her eyes and injecting her with something they hope will pull her out of her catatonic state. The doctor urges Krystle, who's standing there observing all this, to talk to Sarah and see if she recognizes her voice. Krystle obliges - but when Sarah opens her eyes, she just stares at Krystle blankly and says she has no idea who she is, then demands to know what they've done with her baby. As she slips back into subconsciousness, the dismayed doctor tells Krystle that Sarah will likely remain in this condition until she faces the truth about what happened to her daughter (and husband, lest everyone forget that he too perished in the car accident).
Clay tells Leslie he wants to put an end to the tedium that is the Carrington-Fallmont feud and invites her to move in with him. He professes that he's been in love with her ever since they first snarked at each other, and Leslie says she's definitely into the idea of co-habitating and seals the arrangement with a kiss.
Blake and Alexis are at Denver Carrington, anxiously hoping that Adam gets back in touch with them. Steven calls from a phone booth in Billings to report that he spoke to Dr. Edwards, but that the old man has no earthly idea where Adam could be. He says that Plan B is to get in touch with Adam's old friends, and promises not to give up until he locates the weirdo. Blake passes along the update to Alexis, who merrily remarks that whenever the chips are down, they can always be counted upon to come together as a family.
Adam is sitting in front of his grandmother's gravesite, asking the headstone why she lied to him and thereby prevented him from living his life as Michael Torrence. He says he should prolly hate her - but can't, 'cause of how good she was to him all those years. As he cries, "Why did you lie?!", Steven appears out of nowhere, squats next to him, and reminds him that a lot of people care deeply for him...most notably Dana, who he'd be a fool to walk out on. Adam silently thinks about the woman he loves, then stares contemplatively into space.
"You should be grateful that, despite your startling psychotic tendencies, a lot of people named Carrington care about you."
"You raise a good point."
Over in the trailer office, Dominique gushes to Nick about how wonderfully he treats his work crew. He invites her out for another dinner - to the moon! (huh?) - and when Dominique reminds him that she's "a two time loser" when it comes to marriage, he insists that he loves her regardless and urges her to grab hold of happiness before they're both abruptly written out of Dynasty at the end of Season 7.
At Carrington manor that evening, Steven updates Blake about his encounter with Adam in the Billings graveyard. He says he doesn't know where Adam went after their chat, 'cause he insisted on wanting to be left alone. He then changes the subject and asks why Danny is spending the night at the mansion, so Blake tells him he's going to need to find a way to make the young tot understand that it's not his fault that he (Steven) no longer wishes to co-habitate with Sammy Jo.
Dana is lounging in her apartment wearing a filmy negligee and high heels - 'cause, sure, what better outfit to relax in when you're sitting at home by yourself? - when Adam drops by. He plants a giant smooch on her lips, begs her to forgive him for the appalling way he's treated her for the last several episodes, and asks her to run off with him and get married. Dana's like, "Yes and yes!" and gives him a joyful hug.
"Wanna get hitched?"
"Since I've somehow convinced myself that there are no better marriage prospects out there, sure."
Steven admonishes Sammy Jo for involving Blake in their parenting issues, so she tells him that Danny was the one who involved Blake 'cause of how miserable he is to now be living at Delta Rho, fatherless. Sammy Jo moans about how skeered she is of losing Danny, then wonders aloud why they can't put Danny first in reaching a suitable compromise. Steven implores her to understand that he can't live a lie by shacking up with a hetero woman - but Sammy Jo shoots back that their love for Danny is real...then tells him to go pee up a rope until he's willing to be unselfish enough to actually help remedy the situation.
Adam and Dana have packed their bags and are about to flee Denver when Blake and Alexis drop by Dana's apartment. They're startled by the sight of all the luggage, so Adam explains that he and Dana are getting married at City Hall, then leaving Denver forever. Alexis decrees that they're not going anywhere, and that they're getting married in the Carrington mansion as originally planned. Blake concurs and tells Adam that, in their hearts, he's their son...and that they love him dearly [despite having demonstrated a disturbing predilection for being revenge-fuelled, rapey, and traitorous]. Adam looks touched and hugs each of his faux (?) parents, while Dana smiles approvingly.
Dirk Maurier looks less than thrilled when he spots his nephew, Gavin, in the Carlton Hotel lounge. Gavin giddily chuckles at Dirk for taking a bath in the Trouville Industries deal, though as a result of that experience he gained a valuable partner: Alexis Colby. He then prattles about his plans to change the face of aviation and could really use more development funds - but Dirk makes it clear that he can't/isn't willing to lend him anymore money. Gavin says he knows that he (Dirk) hated his father, and by association him...but is confident that he'll come out on top and find the money he needs, adding, "Somehow" with a mischievous grin on his face.
Gavin drives his fancy sports car to the pipeline worksite to meet up with Dex and see if maybe he's interested in funding his aviation venture. Dex informs him that since Lex-Dex is defunct, he has zero interest in investing in anything that risky...and Gavin mulls that over, says he knows that he and Alexis were once an item, and calls her "quite a woman". Dex snarlingly asks him if he came out here to do business or find out about Alexis...then snappishly says that, either way, he's too busy for this nonsense and saunters off, leaving Gavin grinning evilly after him.
Adam storms over to Neil McVane's apartment and declares, "You're finished!" He explains that he told Blake and Alexis everything, and that they fully accept him as their son regardless...and that he doesn't give even the tiniest of rat's asses about what the rest of the world thinks. When a startled Neil accuses him of "pulling some kind of a bluff", Adam assures him he's not bluffing, and that he just swore out a complaint with the police regarding his blackmail attempt, which is a direct violation of his parole. He smugly pronounces, "You are going back to jail, McVane" then hastily exits, leaving an ashen-faced Neil staring concernedly into space.
Gavin is following Alexis's car as her driver ferries her to the Trimble Gallery. When her car pulls up to the entrance, Gavin parks across the street, staring at her creepily.
Inside the Trimble Gallery, Alexis is browsing sculptures as a possible wedding present for Adam and Dana. Gavin slithers over, caresses her hand as she touches the art piece, and schmaltizily asks her what she's thinking while she gazes at the sculpture of a man and woman embracing. She mumbles something about it reminding her that she fell deeply in love a long time ago, then asks him who he is...and he replies, "Your future" before walking off, leaving her staring after him in intrigued puzzlement.

Adam copes with his identity crisis by guzzling more booze
Original airdate: 4/8/1987
Episode summary: A drunk Adam is brutalized when he ventures to the wrong side of town. Nick Kimball wines and dines Dominique before proposing marriage. Krystle gets a tip that Sarah may have rented an apartment.
Over in the sublet apartment, Sarah shows Kristina how she embroidered Cathy on the apron of her Raggedy Ann doll and tells her they now have to start calling the doll Cathy, not Ann. Kristina pouts, "I don't care!" and pronounces that the doll is no longer her favorite toy...and when Sarah refers to her as Cathy, she growls, "I'm not Cathy, I'm Kristina." Sarah spacily replies, "Yes, of course you are", but then stares confusedly into space.
Over at ColbyCo, Alexis hands Adam a big check to purchase Trouville Industries stock and cautions him to keep the transactions on the down-low. Adam implores her not to partner with Dirk Maurier, who he considers "a monster" ... and when Alexis asks him why he's so adamant that she not go through with the deal, he says he can't give her any specifics, except to say that he has very negative instincts about Dirk. Alexis argues that Dirk can earn ColbyCo a lot of money, and that acquiring controlling stock in Trouville Industries will give her the kind of 'east coast clout' she's always craved. Adam makes it clear that he still disapproves, and Alexis is like, "I really don't give a rat's ass, 'cause I'm the boss who gets to make all the big decisions." She then stares at him concernedly and asks him why his hands are shaking, and he assures her it's definitely not from all the booze he's been guzzling lately, then beats a hasty retreat, leaving her staring worriedly after him.
Neil summons Adam to his apartment asap, so Adam rushes over (looking extremely sweaty) and fibs that there's nothing to report about the Trouville Industries takeover. Neil remarks on his sweatier-than-usual appearance and that it's usually a sign someone's lying...and warns that if he catches him lying, "this Adam Carrington charade" will come to an abrupt end. A tormented Adam cracks and wails, "I can't betray my mother!" to which Neil points out that she isn't actually his mother, then demands he spill the beans on whatever insider info he has. Adam meekly reveals that, yeah, there is a deal in the works between Alexis and Dirk Maurier, and Neil grins evilly and urges Adam to continue.
"The sweatier the man, the bigger the liar."
"I submissively concur."
In the next scene, Dominique and Nick are aboard a private plane, en route to San Francisco. Nick explains that he's suddenly gotten very rich after two of his wells [that he was somehow able to finance] struck oil. He declares today "a special day with a special person" ... and Dominique marvels about how different he is than when she first met him. And by different she mostly means wealthy enough to date a well-heeled diva such as herself.
Back at Carrington manor, Blake laments to Ben and Dana that Krystle is anxiously pacing the bedroom and that Kristina's abduction is "too much" after everything else she's been through with their daughter's health issues. Leslie arrives and tells Blake that Dex too is on his way...and then Blake gets word that Sergeant Benson wishes to speak to him in the study.
Sergeant Benson shares with Blake and Krystle that as part of the police department's search for Sarah Curtis, they've set up road blocks, and that he has officers covering the airport, bus station, and train terminal in the event that she tries to flee Denver. A few seconds later, Dex arrives and reports that Sarah hasn't been spotted at her Wyoming property, then emphasizes to Blake that she's incapable of hurting anyone (intentionally anyway). After he ambles off, an agonized Krystle moans to Blake, "Where is she? Where is she?", and he reminds her that they're doing everything possible to find Kristina.
Alexis calls Blake to ask if there's any news regarding Kristina's whereabouts...and when he tells her the tot is still missing, she offers to print a special edition of The Denver Mirror that features photos of both Sarah and Kristina and offers a reward in exchange for information leading to the tot's safe return. Blake expresses his gratitude for her help, and she lowers her voice into a throaty whisper as she reminds him that they've always joined forces whenever their children are in need. She adds that she has also arranged for a local news crew to arrive at the mansion later and set up their cameras so that he and/or Krystle can appeal directly to Sarah for their daughter's safe return.
Back at the sublet, a sad looking Kristina is in bed, mumbling, "I want my mommy" before she falls asleep. Sarah gaily replies, "Of course you do. Your mommy's right here, Cathy."
During the TV broadcast, a tearful Krystle begs Sarah to bring Kristina home, reminding her that she's still recuperating from heart transplant surgery and needs to be carefully monitored. Kristina hears her mother's voice from the other room and excitedly runs into the living room - but Sarah hastily turns off the TV and breezily tells her she must have been dreaming. She then announces that it's time for her meds - but Kristina defiantly runs back into the bedroom, leaving Sarah to sadly whisper, "Cathy, why don't you listen to me anymore?"
"Sarah, bring Kristina home or else."
"How did Krystle get inside my TV?"
Michael Culhane is over at Neil McVane's apartment raising a glass and toasting, "To Adam Carrington, our benefactor." Neil chuckles about their cleverness in preventing Alexis and Dirk from gaining control of Trouville Industries by leaking their takeover plans and causing Alexis to be out "a king's ransom" now that the stock price has plummeted. Neil says he can't wait to see the look on Alexis's face when she learns she's been outfoxed by a dumbfuck who has zero ability to move on with his life even after being released on parole, then smugly pronounces, "Revenge is almost as good as sex." Yeah...whatever, pedo.
Adam returns to his hotel suite and guzzles more scotch while having a flashback to when Alexis first acknowledged that he's her long lost son. He then walks over to the mirror (that I guess the hotel replaced after he shattered the previous one) and rhetorically asks himself, "How can you stand to look at yourself?"
Dr. Chadway tells Blake that time is of the essence in terms of locating Kristina and ensuring that she's getting her daily meds on time...'cause if she doesn't, her lungs will start filling with fluid. After he hangs up, Krystle demands to know what the doctor said, so he passes along the dire message...but the two agree on their hopefulness that, at the very least, Sarah is giving Kristina her meds.
Meanwhile, Sarah urges Kristina - who's starting to look visibly ill - to take her meds and holds a spoonful of it in front of her [making it look a lot more like cough syrup than anti-organ-rejection medicine - but then, I'm a recapper not a post-organ transplant recuperation specialist]. Kristina refuses and cries that she wants to go home, then starts coughing uncontrollably...and Sarah hugs her while desperately praying for nothing bad to happen to the tot.
Adam has drunkenly ventured to Denver's seedy underbelly and enters a boxing club. He staggers around the gym for a few seconds, challenges any of the men (who are all far buffer than him) to a fight in the ring in a weird effort to work out his self-loathing issues...then pulls out his wallet and says he'd be willing to pay his opponent. The gym owner tells Adam he's in no condition to fight anyone, grumbles that he has a business to run, and orders him to get lost. A disappointed Adam gives up his desire to get pummelled by one or more of the muscular boxers - but after he exits the building, one of the boxers follows him out to the alley. He asks Adam if he still wants to fight...and when Adam says he definitely does, the boxer easily beats him senseless, throws him onto a pile of garbage, and then steals his wallet before racing off.
Back at Carrington manor, Krystle is rifling through Sarah's room, desperate for any clues that could reveal where she might have taken Kristina. Blake enters the room and reminds her that the police have already searched the room, then urges her to hang in there and be strong for their daughter.
Sarah sings Kristina a lullaby, refers to her as Cathy, and tells her that soon they'll be back in their Wyoming home.
Dominique is impressed when she sees that Nick has reserved the entire swanky San Francisco restaurant so that the two of them can enjoy a romantic dinner in near solitude. Nick schmaltzily tells her that she's totes worth the cost and effort, then raises a glass as he toasts her awesomeness...and when Dominique warns that this fancy courting doesn't mean she's automatically going to fall into bed with him, he tells her he's less interested in bedding her than he is in wedding her and proposes marriage (!). Dominique stares back at him in stunned silence, not least 'cause the two have barely even interacted with each other...and Nick strongly urges her to think about jumping head-first into a marriage with a person who is essentially a near stranger.
"What do you think about marrying a guy you barely know?"
"That it sounds like a totally reasonable idea. "
Krystle wakes up from what she assumes/hopes has just been a bad dream...but when she gets up and runs over to her daughter's bedroom and finds it empty, she desperately cries, "I want my baby!" She chides Blake for his general state of calm, so he explains that he can't allow anger to cloud his thinking. Krystle eggs him on to be angry with her, since she's the one who trusted Sarah and brought her into their home - but Blake tells her that whatever lapses in judgement she's guilty of, they're guilty together.
The following morning, Sergeant Benson informs Blake that a child has just been found dead after an accident...and since it's a possibility it might be Kristina, he'd like him to go to the morgue and identify the body. Blake agrees, then fibs to Krystle that he's off to the police station for some kind of routine thing-a-ma-jig...and an oblivious Krystle heads upstairs and hugs one of Kristina's teddy bears. While she's doing that, the phone in Sarah's room rings, so she rushes over to answer it. The caller is someone named Mrs. Broderick who asks to speak with Sarah, then explains to Krystle that she's returning Sarah's call regarding an ad she placed in the local paper for an apartment sublet. Krystle perks up at that intriguing clue, then rushes downstairs to look at the Classifieds in yesterday's newspaper. She notices that one of the ads has been circled in pen [way to cover your tracks, Sarah] and calls the number...and when it rings in the sublet apartment, a frightened looking Sarah stares at the phone mutely.
Sarah calls Dr. Chadway to tell him that a child he once treated isn't taking her meds as required...and Dr. Chadway instantly recognizes her voice and urges her to bring Kristina home asap so that she doesn't put the poor girl in further jeopardy. Sarah huffily insists on taking care of "Cathy" in her own way, snarls that she doesn't need him or anybody, then hangs up.
Dana tells Dex she's extremely worried about Adam, and that he started acting stranger than his usual strange self after Neil McVane was released on parole. Dex mulls that over for several seconds and says he has no clue what the connection between the two men could possibly be, and Dana predicts that something terrible is going to happen to Adam.
Alexis arrives at the police station to pick up Adam and explains that one of her reporters discreetly called her after learning of his detainment. Adam sourly tells her he doesn't want or need her concern, cries, "Leave me alone!", and scampers off.
Blake returns home and learns from Gerard that Krystle rushed off somewhere shortly after checking the Classified ads. The two men then scan the newspaper and see the circled address, prompting Blake to call the police.
Krystle arrives at the sublet apartment, knocks on the door as she calls out Sarah's name, and implores her to open the door. Kristina hears her mother's voice from the bedroom and runs over while screaming, "Mommy!" Sarah tries to hush the child and convince her that she's her mommy - just as Kristina starts coughing uncontrollably. When Krystle begs Sarah to not let her die, Sarah finally decides that the badly planned jig is mercifully up, so she opens the door, then sinks onto the floor with a despondent look on her face...and Krystle rushes in and hugs her daughter tightly as she sobs with relief.
"The jig is up, Sarah!"
"In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have used permanent ink when I circled that sublet ad."

Episode summary: Steven rides Valez too hard and causes an accident that results in the poor horse breaking its leg. Alexis agrees to enter into a business partnership with Dirk Maurier. Sarah kidnaps Kristina.
Over at the Delta Rho, Sammy Jo wakes up and finds a tortured looking Steven sitting at the foot of the bed with his head in his hands. When she asks him whassup, he moans, "We're wrong" and laments that he can never be the kind of hetero live-in lover she wants him to be, and he can't lie to himself no 'mo. Sammy Jo asks him what he wants, and he's like, "Dunno, but it can't be this." She tears up as she asks him what in blazes they're going to do, and he hugs her and says he wishes he had a damn clue at any given time if the writers will ever be able to come to a consensus about him being..
- Gay
- Straight
- Bi-sexual
- A-sexual
- At least mildly happy regardless of sexual orientation
- A combination of any of the above
Dirk Maurier summons Alexis to the Carlton Hotel lounge after he finishes his press conference. He tells her he wants her to partner with him in Operation Take Over Trouville Industries - but she tells him that taking over companies is not her style and chides him for being power hungry. Dirk proudly pronounces, "Power and sex, what else is there?" to which Alexis replies, "Love - power and sex can never replace that." A few seconds later, Dex enters the lounge...and Dirk condescendingly tells him he'd invite him to join them, but is pretty sure that their complex deal-making talk would be way over his head. An unfazed Dex retorts that he's been privy to every kind of business-related conversation there is, then ambles off...and when Dirk motions at Dex and asks Alexis if that's the love that can't be replaced, she just stares back at him in mute poutishness.
Elsewhere in the Carlton Hotel, Adam accuses Neil McVane of hiring a PI to follow him around - but Neil says he couldn't be bothered to expend the energy doing that, not least 'cause if he wanted to find him, all he'd have to do is go to the nearest watering hole. Fair point. He then tells Adam he wants the latest intel on Alexis's Trouville takeover plans and warns that if he refuses, he'll see to it that word gets out - without any actual proof - that "Adam Carrington is not Adam Carrington". He calls him "a pathetic fraud" and asks him if he truly absolutely 100% understands that if he doesn't want his world blown up he needs to get him the super secret intel, and Adam snaps, "Yes." The two then ride the elevator together...and when they reach the lobby, Neil bitchily reiterates that he wants that intel asap - a superfluous interaction that gets witnessed by Dana, who's at the hotel on Denver Carrington business. Adam stomps over and accuses her of taking over the morning spy shift, and she tells him she has no idea what he's talking about - but that if he's hanging out with a disgraced pedo like Neil McVane, something clearly is amiss and maybe somebody should be following him and figure out why he's acting so freaked out all the damn time.
"When will you stop tormenting me?"
"When it finally dawns on you that I have no irrefutable proof that you're not a biological Carrington."
Steven heads over to Denver Carrington to inform Blake of his decision to end his co-habitation with Sammy Jo, lamenting the ill-fated decision. Blake's like, "Shocker" [sorry, no - that was me] and says he totally gets that he needed to be part of a strong family unit, assures him that Danny will one day understand his incessant 'am I hetero/non-hetero?' angst, and that he (Blake) has learned his lesson after years of being a judgey dickwad about his grown son's sexual orientation and vows to love him no matter what living situation he chooses.
Over at the mansion, Kristina confides in Sarah that her Raggedy Ann doll is her favorite plaything - but that she keeps it on the down-low 'cause she doesn't want the rest of her toys to feel bad about themselves. Sarah gushes about what a wonderful little heart she has, then stares sadly into space.
Adam meets up with Blake in what looks like a private Denver Carrington dining room. He tells Blake he's concerned about Alexis's business dealings with Dirk Maurier, who's clearly manipulating her...and when Blake points out that Alexis has set plenty of precedents "playing hardball with the big boys", Adam insists that she's vulnerable - but then clams up when Blake asks for specific details. Blake asks him why he's been acting so skittishly lately, then confesses that he was so concerned that he hired a PI to follow him around town...and Adam's all, "You did wha-a-at?!", rails about the lack of trust between them, and storms out of the dining room.
Dex drops by ColbyCo to warn Alexis not to do business with a scoundrel like Dirk Maurier. He explains that, years ago, Dirk suckered him into a shady investment deal and depleted his funds, along with that of fifty other silent partners. Alexis breezily retorts that any investment is a risk, points out that he can't prove that the investment was inherently shady, and reminds him that she's beaten many men at their own game. She then shoots him the stink-eye as she chides him for not warning her about his deceitfulness when it comes to his infidelity, then orders him to get the hell outa her office. Dex bitterly says he should be a happy guy, knowing that Dirk is going to screw her over - but he's not, 'cause he can't help but always have her best interests at heart. He then exits the office, and a peeved Alexis slams the door after him.
"Dirk screwed over me and fifty other investors."
"Looks like you idiots could have used some of my 'playing with the big boys' savvy."
Over in the pipeline trailer office, Clay ogles Leslie and gushes about how his mom would have really liked her, and is sad that she got run over by a car before they could meet. He says he has terrible dreams about the car accident that killed her and wishes it had been his shitty father who had perished. He adds that he has no earthly idea why his mom stayed married to the abusive shitbag - right? - and Leslie gives him a comforting hug.
Alexis tells Dirk she's thought it over and is definitely interested in getting in on the Trouville Industries takeover - but first wants to look over the profit/income statements. Dirk warns that that kind of information is highly confidential, meaning that they can't talk about the figures over the phone or make copies of anything. Alexis snippily tells him she doesn't need lessons from him on security...and reminds him that, as far as this deal is concerned, they're equals.
Dominique drops by Sarah's room to ask her something and happens to notice an open photo album with pictures of Cathy in pigtails and wearing the same blue dress that Sarah made for Kristina. She makes a beeline over to where Krystle is and reports this odd discovery...and Krystle isn't sure what to make of the weirdness. She wonders aloud if maybe Blake was right about Sarah...and if so, how does she express her concern to the woman who saved her daughter's life?
Blake tells Alexis that something is troubling Adam - like, beyond his usual broody moodiness. He adds that he's been so worried that he hired a PI to follow him around, and stands by the intrusiveness 'cause he's certain that their freak son desperately needs help.
Sarah tells Krystle how peaceful it is at Carrington manor, then tells her she fully gets that it's time for her to leave and get on with her life. She thanks Krystle for being such a good friend and says she plans to leave tomorrow, and a visibly relieved Krystle tells her to let her and/or Blake know if she ever needs anything.
"You're going home soon, right?"
"If by home you mean a nearby apartment I'm going to rent in secret, then yes."
Alexis runs into a mopey Steven at Denver Carrington and snidely asks him if Sammy Jo is the cause of his bad mood, adding that she wishes he had talked to her before moving to Delta Rho. Steven argues that 1) Sammy Jo loves him, 2) he loves Sammy Jo in his own special way, and 3) his unhappiness is his own doing.
Leslie is over at Clay's place, and the two are enjoying a romantic dinner. He turns on some boring muzak, and the two slow dance and agree that they're really starting to dig each other.
Back at Delta Rho, Sammy Jo finds Steven staring moodily at the fireplace...and when she urges him to come to bed, he snappishly tells her he needs time to himself, and that she has to accept that he's not the hetero lover she wants him to be. As he bitchily storms off, she anxiously cries, "Steeeeeeeven!"
Sarah is looking at a prospective apartment to sublet, and the landlady tells her she really really needs a tenant asap. Sarah's like, "I'll take it!" and mentions that she and her young daughter will be living in the apartment together. Oh dear.
Steven is riding Valez on the vast grounds of Delta Rho, repeatedly smacking the poor horse with the reins to get him to gallop increasingly faster. When they approach a ravine, Valez loses his footing and throws Steven, then collapses to the ground.
Sarah tells Blake she bought a plane ticket for her return trip to Wyoming...and when he tells her he would have been happy to fly her home in his private jet, she firmly tells him that she needs to start doing things on her own again. She bids him adieu, and he tells her that he and Krystle will never forget everything she did to contribute to their daughter's survival.
Sammy Jo and Danny come running over to where Valez has collapsed. Steven sheepishly admits that he rode the horse a whole lot harder than he probably should have. The veterinarian insists it wasn't his fault 'cause horses should be ridden hard [though probably not that hard], then says that he can set Valez's broken leg - but after that, he has to be put out to pasture and can never be ridden again. As Danny softly pets his favorite horse, Steven laments that his son will never get the opportunity to ride him [on account of his foul mood].
"So...what's the diagnosis?"
"The diagnosis is that a stupid fucktwat rode this poor horse so hard down a ravine that it directly resulted in him breaking his leg."
Sarah tells Krystle she's going to miss her, then gives Kristina a big hug and explains that she has to go 'cause she has a big Wyoming ranch to take care of. Jeannette pops in to inform Krystle that she has a long-distance phone call...and after the two scurry out of the room, Sarah stares wide-eyed into space for a few seconds, then hastily gathers up Kristina's medications, puts her little coat on her, and tells her they're going for a walk. Kristina seems OK with that and asks her if she can bring Raggedy Ann along, and Sarah says she can, then hustles her downstairs and out of the mansion.
Steven whines to Sammy Jo about how he has no idea what to say to Danny after Valez's untimely accident...and that since he's been such a dickwad of a father lately, he's going to entrust him to her while he wanders the earth and decides if it's possible for him to ever find happiness. Sammy Jo's like, "Godspeed, cranky pants."
Krystle asks Jeannette if she's seen Kristina, and Jeannette says she hasn't a clue where the tot could be. Blake returns home just as the servants begin scouring the mansion...and after Gerard contacts security, he reports that Sarah was seen driving off with Kristina. As Blake scrunches his face worriedly, a horrified Krystle cries, "She's taken our daughter!"
