Recap: Dex continues to stare incredulously at Virginia in her skimpy-wear, muttering, "It can't be.." and remarks on how long it's been since he's last seen her. She snarls that it's been over ten years, and admonishes him for reneging on his promise to rescue her from - I can only assume - the grisly life of a teenage hooker. As she produces a strip of photo booth photos (of the two of them hugging and beaming) and throws it at Dex, he vehemently denies "throwing her away" ... and the two start bickering back and forth when Joanna enters the apartment, takes one look at the scantily-clad Virginia, and chucklingly calls Dex "you sneaky thing". Virginia decides to call it a night and tells Joanna, "My time's up. You can take over, babe" and storms out, leaving the strip of photo booth photos behind. Over at Casa Pizza, Fallon is getting dressed when Sergeant Zorelli wakes up and looks miffed that she's about to sneak off in the middle of the night, instead of spending the night with him. Fallon says she can't do that, not least 'cause he's the cop who's trying to jail her father. Zorelli gets all prickly and accuses her of only hitting the sheets with him in an attempt to soften him against going after Blake, and Fallon makes it clear how insulting she finds that allegation and storms out. Joanna tells Dex she's feeling a bit sheepish about pretending not to know who Fritz Heath is, and reveals that Fritz recently requested a meeting with Sable - but is unwilling to offer up any more details, 'cause she doesn't feel the need to report on her boss's business to him. She then says she mostly stopped by 'cause she assumed he was lonely tonight and could use a back rub...and Dex admits it's been an awkward night with Virginia unexpectedly coming over and reminding him of their past connection. Joanna shrugs and dismissively tells him he'll have to rub his own back, then kisses him goodbye and sashays out...leaving Dex staring forlornly at the photo booth photos that Virginia left behind. Joanna phones Sable to tell her she's pretty sure that Dex doesn't know the full story behind their connection to Fritz Heath, and that she has people working on getting a full background check on Fritz. Sable says she'd love to get some leverage over Fritz so that he'll be more than willing to tell her everything he knows about ColbyCo and its various weak spots. Virginia returns to the mansion and runs into Adam. She fibs as she explains that she caked a ridiculous amount of makeup on her face to hit a downtown club, and Adam studies her tacky blue eyeshadow and red clown cheeks appreciatively and says he totally digs her look...and invites himself along next time she goes clubbing. A few seconds later, Jeannette answers the phone and indicates to Virginia that it's Dex calling for her - but Virginia makes it clear she has zero desire to speak to him. A puzzled Adam asks her what she has against Dex, and she declines to explain and races upstairs to her bedroom. Later, Adam is wandering around the mansion when Fallon tiptoes into the corridor. He taunts his sister about jumping into the sack with a cop who's trying to jail their father, and Fallon snarks back that he's the one with the complete lack of morals. Adam indignantly declares that he'd never betray Blake, and Fallon shoots back that that's 'cause he's afraid of being cut out of the will [which is, no doubt, true]. Adam smugly informs her that Blake is back home from Switzerland and called a family gathering earlier, and Fallon sheepishly says she had no idea, and correctly assumes that Adam tattled to Blake that she was out spending time with his nemesis, Sergeant Zorelli. The next morning, Blake is eating breakfast when Fallon enters the room in her PJs and expresses her deep sadness about Krystle's vegetative state. Blake thanks her, assures her he's doing OK, then says he missed her at last night's family gathering. His tone turns snarly when he chides her about how irresponsible it is to be engaging in hanky panky with the very police sergeant who's investigating him, angrily adding, "My own flesh and blood...and I swear, I don't know you." As he gets up and storms out, Fallon stares after him, her face scrunched into an expression of anguish. Over at Delta Rho, Sammy Jo and Jeff are canoodling while enjoying breakfast in bed. Jeff spots a folding knife on the side table and asks where that came from, so she explains that Danny found it in the stables and that she assumes it belongs to one of the ranch hands. Jeff picks it up and studies it carefully, noticing it has the inscription To my Scuba, With love. Jeff doubts it belongs to a ranch hand - but Sammy Jo breezily says she's not worried, 'cause it was found long after the ranch hands scoured the stables immediately after her attack. Sable drops by Blake's office to apologize for egging on Fallon to show Alexis the old photo of him next to Roger Grimes - but Blake breezily says he'll chalk that up to an honest mistake. She then reveals an interesting tidbit: when Roger was still alive, he and Jason had had numerous private meetings, and she had assumed the meetings were about the mining company. She adds that if there had been any acrimony between the two men, Jason wouldn't have thought twice about doing away with Roger. She tells him to keep that in mind amid Alexis's allegations that he (Blake) was Roger's murderer...and Blake thanks her for the intel, but says doesn't believe that Alexis is going to be much of a problem. Once Sable has exited the office, Blake phones Dex and summons him over, warning that they have a new problem. Blake tells Dex he's concerned about why Jason Colby would have had a connection to Roger, who was an architect and therefore should have had nothing to do with the tri-family mining company. When Dex asks him if he's spoken to Jason about this, Blake says he's out of the country and can't be reached...and adds that he's worried Jason has "broken the pact". Dex questions why Jason would do anything to implicate himself with whatever nonsensical horrendousness exists at the bottom of the lake, and Blake slaps his hand on the table and growls, "Damn it! Somebody is trying to unearth the collection!" (say huh?) ... and if that person isn't stopped, the Carringtons, Colbys, and Dexters will be destroyed in the process. Dex looks worried about that possibility, then promises to talk to Alexis about easing up on the 'Blake killed Roger' allegations once she returns from Natumbe. Blake irritably mentions that he's now going to have to deal with his idiot daughter, who's been sleeping with Sergeant Zorelli and unwittingly risking having the shameful (but yet unspecified) secret revealed. He declares, "If I have to, I'll confess to the murder of Roger Grimes" 'cause of how desperately he wants the police investigation to come to a screeching halt. Fallon is showering when she hears the voice of dead Roger Grimes, admonishing her for doing the nasty with Sergeant Zorelli, sourly remarking, "If you really cared for me, you wouldn't be fooling around with him." Fallon admits that, yeah, she kinda wants to know what intel Zorelli has on Blake...but then points out to the miffed Dead Roger that she can't care about him on account of she doesn't even know him. Plus...he's fucking dead. [Am I really recapping a conversation between Fallon and a dead guy she likely wouldn't have known while he was alive? Yes...I guess I am.] Dead Roger argues that she does know him, 'cause she keeps bringing him back [into her thoughts, as well as into her shower], and bitchily refuses to reveal anything of interest to her "while that cop's still around". After he abruptly vanishes, Fallon continues to shower while she (and I) stare into space in utter befuddlement about a subplot that made about as much sense as her ride aboard a spaceship in Season 8. Joanna reports to Sable that Fritz Heath is a degenerate gambler who currently owes a private casino (just outside of Denver) a lot of money. Joanna mentions that the casino's owner is Aly Samarkian, and Sable confirms that, yep, she definitely knows him...and applauds Joanna's good work in uncovering this useful intel. Over at ColbyCo, Jeff is going over the expense reports with Fritz, who was able to make a $4.5 million payment while simultaneously earning a substantial amount in interest in the process. Jeff, who's clearly playing "good cop", wankingly assures Fritz that Alexis will be very pleased with his work...and that he's had to convince Dex that there's no accounting fraud to be suspicious of, 'cause of how brilliantly he (Fritz) has been performing such superb accounting skills. Jeff invites him to show him all of the transactions he's been working on so he can doubly assure both Alexis and Dex that everything is on the up and up...then reminds him that ColbyCo has a $56 million payment to make in the near future, describing it as "a tough nut to crack". Fritz says he has it under control...and when Jeff says he'd like a blow-by-blow description on how he's going to generate that kind of cash, Fritz nervously agrees. During a pre-dinner gathering at the mansion, Sammy Jo tells Blake et. al. about being attacked by an unknown assailant in the Delta Rho stable, and Jeff adds that the attacker likely dropped a knife with the inscription To my Scuba, With love. Sable looks visibly stricken by that revelation, while a disinterested Virginia strolls across the room. Dex wanders over and tries to speak with her, but she refuses to talk civilly and snarks at him to "can it". As the conversation drifts back to Sammy Jo's attack, Blake urges her to stay at the mansion for safety's sake...and Dex concurs about how it doesn't hurt to be extra careful. Virginia snarls at him for giving the unsolicited advice, then grumbles, "When the chips are down, you're out the door." As everyone glances at each other confusedly, Virginia continues to bitch at Dex before throwing a drink at him, then rushes out of the room. Fallon's like, "What the hell's gotten into her?" as Blake offers to go upstairs and check on her. Sable, meanwhile, decides she's had enough of the mansion for one evening and bids everyone adieu...and then Adam, Fallon, and Sammy Jo decide to head over to the dining room to enjoy an evening meal. As they walk down the corridor, Sammy Jo tells Adam and Fallon about how Virginia beat up a drug dealer downtown a few weeks ago...and that at first she assumed it was a one-time thing, but now realizes it's "a permanent defect". Fallon chuckles and quips, "Like Adam", so Adam snaps back that she's betraying the family by bumping uglies with Sergeant Zorelli. Sammy Jo yells at them to knock it off, rhetorically asking if they ever get sick of sniping at one another. Adam replies, "I don't" - a reaction that made me laugh out loud, and prompted Sammy Jo to roll her eyes in exasperation. Blake tells Virginia that people can be pushed to do weird things they'd never ordinarily do, and coos about how much stress she's been under lately. When Virginia laments her inability to control herself from throwing a drink at Dex, Blake says, "I know all about it", and assumes that the source of her anger is the pain over losing Krystle. When Virginia refrains from explaining the real reason she acted out, Blake says they all need to be grateful for the time they were able to enjoy in Krystle's serene presence, and wants them (and by them he means her) to always behave with dignity and courage, like Krystle would have. He then says that surely Dex didn't mean to say anything offensive to her, and she just stares back at him mutely. Sable heads over to a motel, where Gibson (the grey-haired gentleman she met with at the Carlton Hotel) and his lady friend are holed up. Sable asks Gibson what in blazes he was doing at Delta Rho yesterday, and reveals that he left behind a folding knife with an inscription addressed to my Scuba. Gibson continues to insist that he's innocent - but Sable doesn't buy it and warns that if he doesn't leave Denver in 24 hours, she'll reveal to the police whose fingerprints are on that knife [and says this despite the fact that numerous people have handled the knife since it was uncovered in the stable]. The next morning at Carrington manor, Jeannette informs Fallon that Sergeant Zorelli is on the phone for her...and Blake overhears that, grabs the phone, and angrily tells Zorelli that he won't tolerate him using his family members against him and wants him out of their lives. After he slams the phone down, Fallon irritably reminds her father that she's a grown woman, so Blake tells her she has no idea what she's messing around with in spending time with a man who's trying to pin a murder charge on him. When he comes right out and asks Fallon if she's riding Zorelli's baloney pony, she indignantly retorts, "That is nobody's business but mine" and storms out of the room. Over at the police station, Sergeant Zorelli receives a copy of something from his earlier surveillance of Fallon: the old photo of Blake and Roger Grimes. Zorelli's colleague reminds him that he got ripped a new one by the captain for continuing to work on this case, then asks where he thinks he's going to stand with Fallon if she ever finds out that he secretly obtained a copy of this incriminating photo. That evening, Fallon heads over to Mama Novelli, a cheap looking Italian restaurant where Zorelli is eating his dinner. He tells her he's waiting for an apology for Blake's outburst on the phone, while Fallon says she's waiting for an apology for the bitchy way he treated her after they doinked at his apartment. She faux insists that she's not interested in him because of his investigation into Blake, and Zorelli says that being a cop is in his blood, and that he strongly suspects that Blake knows more about Roger Grimes's death than he's letting on. He then back pedals and says he too has feelings and denies using her to get more intel to prove Blake's guilt, then wearily gets up and exits the restaurant. Fritz Heath is at the private casino outside of Denver, playing a game of blackjack. Sable is in the adjacent room with the owner (Aly Samarkian), watching Fritz through a two-way mirror. Aly informs her that tonight Fritz is already in the hole for $210,000...and explains that he hasn't booted the imbecile from betting at the casino 'cause he somehow always manages to pay up. A few seconds later, Aly gets a call about the arrival of Dex, who saunters into the secret room for a one-on-one with Sable. The two watch Fritz sitting at the blackjack table, looking despondent as he continues to rack up more debt. Dex accuses Sable of being interested in Fritz just so she can use him to hurt Alexis...and when Sable asks Dex why he went through the trouble of following Fritz to the casino, he joking retorts, "He's a guy you just can't get too much of." Sable chuckles, likens Fritz to a fascinating science project, and muses that if they dissected him, all sorts of fascinating things would likely fall out. Jeff calls Sammy Jo from the Carlton Hotel lounge, telling her he'll be by Delta Rho after he meets with someone on Dex's behalf. A few seconds later, Joanna arrives and looks insulted when she learns that Jeff is a stand-in for Dex. When Jeff politely introduces himself, she remarks on all the terrible things Sable has said about him, then says she has a message for him to pass along to Dex: a (literal) slap across the face. After she storms out, the bartender brings Jeff a drink...and when Jeff tells him that this is now the second time a woman has slapped him in this bar, the bartender earnestly replies, "Yes, sir. I noticed that." Bwahaha! Back at the casino, Sable rags about Dex's unwavering loyalty to Alexis, then advises him to not work overtime for a woman who cares so little in return. When Dex insists that he'll never ever hurt Alexis, Sable likens her cousin to an albatross around his neck. Dex asks if she thinks she's much better, and Sable insists she is 'cause she's not nearly as slutty as Alexis. This prompts Dex to accuse her of setting up a private meeting with him tonight...and as he leans in close and hovers over her, she sprays his face with what looked like some mild mace. She makes it clear that she has zero romantic interest in him while he's amusing himself with her "hired help", then flounces out of the room...leaving Dex chuckling in response. Sammy Jo is ambling around the Delta Rho stable when she hears a noise. She quietly heads over to a nearby cabinet and pulls out a shotgun and fills it with bullets, then tiptoes back to the stalls. When Gibson suddenly emerges from one of the stalls, he raises his gun and shoots at her, prompting her to shoot back at him...and the bullets that are flying around hit the electrical panel, which results in some flammable liquids getting set on fire. Sammy Jo, who looks to be shot, is lying unconscious with flames all around her. Eeeeek! Thanks for reading! If you are enjoying TVofYore's recaps, consider thanking me by buying me a "coffee"!
