Recap: Alexis is having a troubled sleep, dreaming that Sean has sneaked into her suite wearing a camouflage outfit and carrying a large knife. She sees him looming over her - just as she wakes in a panic and turns on the lights to reassure herself that he's not really there. She then climbs out of bed and sits in front of her vanity mirror, chiding herself for worrying about all the things that aren't going to happen [but - spoiler - actually do happen]:
Dana tries to explain to a furious Adam that while she can't unsay what she said in court during the previous episode, it's entirely possible that the judge could still rule in their favor. She weakly insists that she wants the surrogate baby as much as he does...and that since they're a rich married couple, they stand a far better chance of getting custody than Karen, a poor-ish single mother of two. Adam snarlingly points out that they're hardly a loving married couple anymore, given that they now sleep in separate rooms. Dana reminds him that when they first got married he had pronounced "together we can do anything" ... then begs him to not hate her, and presses herself against him in a clingy hug. Blake has requested local air time to deliver a speech that addresses "the dark cloud" that's been looming over his campaign, aka the false accusations of gun-running out of Natumbe. He holds up a stack of papers and says they offer authenticated proof that he was the victim of an evil plot that was designed to bring down him, his family, and his gubernatorial campaign. As Alexis grimly watches the speech from her living room, Russ Kelton tells her they need to immediately do something to counter Blake's sudden momentum - but Alexis disagrees and reminds him that her saintly image wasn't tarnished in any gun-running scandal, and that she's A-OK just sitting idly by and passively hoping for the best election outcome. Adam is at the hospital, staring at his baby through the nursery window. He asks the nurse if he can hold his son - and she says that even though visiting hours haven't started yet, she'd be more than happy to bend the rules for him. She leads him into the nursery and hands him his son...and he cradles him while cooingly promising to never abandon him. Adam drops by Karen's house (where Jesse and Karen are getting ready for court) to implore Karen to not rob their child of a life without his bio dad. He suggests they enter into an agreement of joint custody, and that she could move into Carrington manor with her daughters so that they all can live under the same roof [which is probably a tad weird]. Jesse's like, "That's enough, I want you outa here" and Karen makes it clear that she has zero interest in bunking with a bunch of dysfunctional rich people and asks him to leave. As Adam ambles towards the front door, he shoots Jesse the stink-eye and sternly pronounces, "He is my son, and you are not going to raise him." Alexis summons Leslie to her office to smugly inform her that, as part of an effort to cut out the deadwood from ColbyCo, she's officially fired. As Leslie stares back at her with a look of aghast horror, Alexis orders her to vacate the building immediately, then hands her the bracelet she once gifted her and tells her to consider it severance pay. In court, the judge natters about what a conundrum it is for him to make the best decision for the welfare of Karen's/Adam's yet unnamed baby and weighs the pros and cons of each party getting custody:
At the mention of that last thing, Gloria interrupts the judge's speech to make a dramatic announcement: Karen and Jesse are officially reconciling, which effectively means that Karen is no longer a single parent. Adam bellows, "That's a cheap trick!", while his lawyer sourly calls the announcement "an insult to the court". When Gloria insists that Jesse and Karen are able to offer a secure environment in which to raise a baby, Adam screeches, "For how long?!" ... and then he and Jesse start bickering back and forth - until the judge bangs his gavel and yells at them to shut it. He says he's going to go off somewhere quiet to deliberate, and will notify them when he's reached a decision. After exiting the courtroom, Adam is swarmed by the press, which he does his best to ignore. When the press swarms Alexis and asks her whaddup with her scoundrel of a husband, she curtly declares that there's nothing to discuss 'cause he's dead. At Delta Rho, Jeff tells Sammy Jo that after his rollercoaster of a life this season, he's somehow decided it makes total sense to jump head-first into yet another marriage...and officially proposes. The camera then pans over to Danny, who has tiptoed into the room and is quietly eavesdropping. He contorts his little face into a poutish expression before he turns around and runs off. Sammy Jo, meanwhile, points out how rapidly their romance has progressed - but Jeff insists that he loves her, knows it's right, and doesn't want them to miss an opportunity to be happy. Sammy Jo chews on that for a few seconds, then tells him she's gonna need time to think about it. Over at Carrington manor, Dana remarks to Adam that it's obvious he's been avoiding her all day...then points out that if Karen happens to win custody, they can still appeal the ruling. Adam snarlingly admonishes her for not wanting their marriage to succeed, and for helping the court take his son away. Dana sadly concludes that perhaps there is "no us" anymore - but insists that he needs to take at least part of the blame for everything going awry, 'cause right now she's kinda feeling like a scapegoat. She then declares that, upon further reflection, she feels pretty darn good about standing up for Karen in court, and chides Adam for always taking and having no clue how to give. She stares at him sadly as she says, "We could have had it all. Now we have nothing", then makes it clear how much she utterly hates him in this moment. As a startled Adam stares back at her in stunned silence, she bids him goodbye and hastily exits the room. At Denver Carrington, while waiting for Steven to finally end the work day, Danny asks if he'll still be his daddy in the event that mommy gets married again. Steven assures him he will, then wonders aloud why he'd ask such a thing...so Danny blabs that earlier he had overheard Jeff proposing to Sammy Jo. Sammy Jo is enjoying a glass of wine in her living room when Steven drops by to sourly ask if it's true that she's marrying Jeff. Sammy Jo says it's none of his business - but that, yeah, Jeff did ask her to marry him...and so she's taking time to seriously contemplate the proposal. Steven reminds her that Jeff just got divorced, and warns that he and Fallon have always had a tight bond that is sure to last for eternity. Sammy Jo's like, "Whatever, this is my decision to make", and an irked Steven reacts by bitchily stalking out. Sean Rowan (!) is holed up in a hotel room, watching news footage of when Alexis told reporters that her husband is dead. He grins at the TV and mockingly asks, "Is he?" Later, Sean sneaks into Alexis's hotel suite [which apparently Alexis took no security precautions to keep him out of, despite there being no definitive proof that he was actually dead] and tiptoes around the living room. He pulls out his gun, attaches a silencer, then quietly makes his way into the (empty) bedroom. A few seconds later, Alexis returns home after walking her adorable Shih Tzu, who immediately senses Sean's evil presence and races over to the bedroom door and starts growling and scratching the door. A puzzled Alexis is about to investigate the source of her pooch's displeasure when Dex drops by to tell her that Sean was reportedly spotted in Nairobi last week. Alexis dismisses that claim and says she's continuing to cling to the theory that he died on the oil tanker after it exploded. A skeptical Dex is like, "Mmm...not", but then brushes off his immediate concern about Sean posing any kind of threat and invites her to lunch. Alexis happily accepts, then heads into her bedroom to do something or other and finds her window wide open. I'll take this to mean that Sean climbed out of it...and, assuming that this penthouse suite would be on an upper floor, somehow didn't plunge to his death in the process. Sammy Jo heads over to the mansion to discuss Jeff's marriage proposal with Krystle...and Krystle's all, "Wha-a-a? Didn't he just divorce Fallon?" [right??] and warns that their coupling could cause some pretty awkward moments at family gatherings. She urges Sammy Jo to give this relationship more time to develop, accept the fact that Fallon will likely be a constant presence in their lives, but then just do whatever feels right. Krystle suddenly gets another debilitating headache and starts rubbing her temple...and when Sammy Jo asks her whaddup with that, she breezily assures her niece that she's just fine. Leslie drops by Alexis's suite to beg her forgiveness for hitting the sheets with Sean - but Alexis coldly tells her there's no room at ColbyCo for a company tramp. Leslie whimpers that she was manipulated by Sean, to which Alexis murmurs, "Weren't we all?" then decides that Company Slut best describes Leslie's skanky skillset. She then screams at her to get out, and Leslie tears up as she beats a hasty retreat. [It remains unclear why Leslie doesn't stop debasing herself about her ColbyCo job and just go back to working with Dex on the pipeline project.] Steven has dropped by Jeff's apartment to sourly admonish him for proposing to Sammy Jo after dating way too briefly, so then Jeff accuses him of being irked 'cause of his need to control Sammy Jo, who's been feeling smothered by his over-protectiveness. Jeff tells Steven that if he truly believes he's the right man for Sammy Jo, he'll back off...and instead of reminding Jeff that he's gay, Steven dismayingly contemplates what this interaction could mean in the context of the herky-jerky way in which the Dynasty writers feel like portraying his sexuality on any given day. Election night! As the results come in, it's clear that Blake has a commanding lead in urban areas. As Alexis grimly watches the election coverage, Russ Kelton suggests they head over to her campaign headquarters and cobble together a concession speech - in the likely event that she'll lose. Alexis declines and nonsensically says she's never conceded defeat in her life. That evening, Blake intercepts Adam at the courthouse before he can make an ass of himself by personally imploring the judge to award him custody of Nameless Baby Boy. Blake warns that this kind of behavior isn't going to help his cause, urges him to just sit back and let the judge make the decision, and assures him he'll offer him all of his support. Adam takes a deep breath, chillaxes, and agrees to not confront the judge. Later, Blake and Krystle watch the election coverage. Bill Cochran warns Blake that, despite his significant lead, the election isn't over. Dex drops by Alexis's suite to cluck sympathetically about her losing so badly to Blake, then wankingly adds that he's proud of the way she gave the two male candidates a run for their money. He then draws her to him and reminds her of all the good times they've had...and after a smooch, she chucklingly marvels about how full of surprises he is today. She then tells him she'd like them to head over to Carrington manor to congratulate Blake on winning the governorship. Back at the mansion, Steven drops the bombshell on Fallon that Jeff has just proposed to Sammy Jo, and Fallon's all, "Say wuh?" She tears up and says she figured that Jeff would one day end up with someone else...she just didn't think it would be before the ink on their divorce papers had barely had a chance to dry. Blake enters one of the mansion's sitting rooms and finds Adam binge-drinking. Adam thanks him for his earlier words of encouragement...and when Blake asks him where Dana is, he fibs and says she's lying down 'cause she's not feeling well. Bill Cochran tells Blake that, in all likelihood, he will be Colorado's next governor - but Blake reminds him that only 40% of the votes have been tallied. A few seconds later, Alexis and Dex arrive to offer their congratulations...and Blake applauds her for putting up "one helluva fight", and she graciously concedes as the two amiably shake hands. A little while later, Bill Cochran pales as he continues monitoring the election coverage, which is now reporting that Blake's lead has been cut dramatically in the last hour...and that all of the ballots in the rural areas are yet to be counted [I can only assume that Blake hasn't been polling well in those places]. The newscaster sheepishly admits that projecting victory for Blake Carrington was premature, and Alexis perks up at that, then happily skips off with Dex. At the hospital, Karen and Jesse ask the nurse if she wouldn't mind letting them visit Nameless Baby Boy, and the nurse is all 'sure, I'd be happy to bend the rules for you' and then ambles off somewhere. Blake pokes his head into Adam's bedroom and is puzzled to see that Adam is nowhere to be found. The nurse ushers Karen and Jesse over to the nursery...and is mystified to see that Nameless Baby Boy is gone. As a panicked Karen asks, "Where is my baby?!", the nurse mutters that she just fed the tot half an hour ago. Jesse yells at her to do something...and after she runs out to alert security, Karen grows hysterical and wails that she's leaping to the conclusion that Adam has ruthlessly snatched her baby. Er, their baby. Thanks for reading! If you are enjoying TVofYore's recaps, consider thanking me by buying me a "coffee"!
