Recap: Brandon arrives on campus, looking all fancy in a suit and tie. He rushes into the Administration Building for a meeting with the dean, who informs him that he's been chosen as the university's representative for the National Task Force on Higher Education. Brandon looks thrilled, and is blown away when the dean tells him he'll get to go to the White House, meet the president, and present the findings of the task force. The Peach Pit. The Walshes, along with Kelly, Donna, and Steve are celebrating Brandon's implausible appointment on the important sounding national task force. Steve is mystified why Brandon got selected and reminds everyone that he snubbed the Greeks and thumbed his nose at the Progressives - so Donna explains that "the world just loves Brandon." That it does, Donna. That it does. Mama Walsh announces that she's now a student at CU and is enrolled in a master's program for child and family counseling. Steve congratulates her and tells her that the university could always use another pretty coed. Brenda's inner bitch suddenly pops out and snarks at Steve not to encourage Cindy. She doesn't want her to get any more ideas about learnin' - otherwise she might decide to pursue her PhD. Dylan slouches into the diner and congratulates Brandon on the task force, and then Nat interjects himself to needlessly remind everyone that he gave Brandon his first job. Dylan asks Nat if he's still looking for a waitress, and Nat says yes and that he's desperate for help. Dylan tells him that Suzanne is looking for a waitressing job, and Nat urges him to bring her in for an interview...the sooner the better. Donna tells Kelly that her flirtation with Chad during the previous episode made her realize how much she wants David back. Kelly keeps mum about David's drug use and just says he has some problems at the moment...and adds that his feelings are probably muddled with confusion. Donna says she's just happy that David is still living in the apartment, and Kelly blurts out that David's seeing a therapist. Therapist's office. David tells the therapist he barely passed his finals and that he's on academic probation. He admits to using sedatives (aka the codeine he stole from Mel's office), and that he dumped his girlfriend for not puttin' out, but now wants her back again. That's fickle...and slightly confusing, considering the no sex problem ain't going away any time soon. The therapist asks him what role drugs played in his general meltdown, and David says it didn't really play a role...and that his problem was that there just weren't enough hours in the day, and that speed (crystal meth) allowed him to function. Sort of. The therapist expresses surprise that he's been using sedatives and speed, so David quickly says he used whatever drugs he could get his hands on. He insists that he's stopped using drugs altogether, and the skeptical looking therapist tells him that staying clean requires hard work. Beach house. Kelly and Donna are in the living room, giggling while they do a yoga exercise video together. David arrives home and, to Donna's great surprise, actually behaves like a pleasant human being. He says he has something to tell her, so Kelly leaves the room to give them their privacy. He admits that he's been doing crystal meth for the past few weeks, and she responds by furrowing her brows and staring back at him in confusion. Poor Donna. Information is hard. He explains that the drugs screwed him up, and then apologizes for acting like such a horse's ass whenever he was high. She asks him if he's OK now, and he assures her that he's drug-free and seeing a therapist. He says he knows he trashed a good thing and would understand if she never wanted to date him again...but he really wants to fix things between them. Donna looks happy to hear that and says she just wants him to get well. California University. Ahn-drea enters the Student Union wearing a frumpy, pregnancy concealing flannel shirt. She spots Kelly, joins her at her table, and breaks the news that she's pregnant. Kelly pretends not to have noticed her burgeoning waistline and and asks her what she's going to do, and Ahn-drea says she doesn't have a whole lot of choice. She asks Kelly if she's ever had an abortion, and Kelly tells her she hasn't...then prefaces her next question by saying she doesn't want to seem rude, and asks her if she even knows who her baby daddy is. Mmm...that might be rude if we didn't all know that Ahn-drea jumped in the sack with Jesse two minutes after she dumped Dan, who she was also doinking. Ahn-drea says for sure the baby is Jesse's, and admits that they slept together on at least one occasion without any protection. She hasn't told him about the bun in her oven, and assumes that because he's Catholic he wouldn't be pro-choice. Kelly suggests that Jesse may not be all that conservative, since he clearly had no problem doinking her out of wedlock. She tells Ahn-drea she'll support her in any way she needs, but strongly urges her to tell Jesse what's going on. Peach Pit. Dylan brings Suzanne to the diner so she can apply for the waitressing job. She hands Nat her resume, and after a quick scan of her fake references he hires her on the spot. He starts giving her a tour of the diner, so Dylan and Brandon take a seat and watch the cheese-tastic display. Brandon remarks that he doesn't miss working at the Pit, but does miss Nat. Suddenly, Nat looks distressed and keels over, sending glassware and cutlery crashing to the floor. Brandon and Dylan immediately rush over, call 911, and start administering CPR. Hospital. Brandon and Dylan are in the waiting room, waiting to hear news about Nat. Nat's cousin Joey comes over and tells them he'll be in the cardiac unit for a few days, and after that he'll have to have bypass surgery. He tells Brandon that Nat was asking for him, so Brandon enters the ICU and finds Nat looking sick and terrible...and, fortunately, too weak to talk. Brandon pulls up a chair, sits with him, and holds his hand. Peach Pit. Joey cancels all the regular food deliveries while a dismayed Brandon cleans up the glassware that Nat dropped when he collapsed. California University. Earlier, Ahn-drea left Jesse a message that they "need to talk". She shows up to meet him wearing a maternity moo moo under a thick dark blazer, and looks so grim that Jesse assumes she's about to dump him. She assures him that their relationship isn't over, or so she hopes, and he looks relieved and gives her a giant hug. He invites her to grab some lunch with him, then leads her over to where he arranged a little picnic for the two of them. He gives her the good news that he got a clerkship in San Francisco, and she congratulates him with a hug. He jests that she's hitched to a future power player, and she shoots him a funny look and repeats, "Hitched?" Jesse looks embarrassed, then backpedals and says that maybe "hitched" was a poor word choice...but then insists that she spend the summer with him in San Francisco. She agrees, and doesn't bring up her pregnancy. Student Union. David tells Donna he hopes he won't be tempted to fall off the wagon while doing his radio show that evening. Donna's surprised he's even contemplating doing the show, and reminds him that his therapist advised him to stay away from places that got him into trouble with drugs. She offers to do the radio show, but he points out that she can't handle the graveyard shift very well either. Steve suddenly walks over and asks whassup, and David tells him that he needs to find a sub for his radio show that night. Steve's eyes instantly light up, and he enthusiastically offers to do it. Donna encourages David to take Steve up on his offer, and David agrees. Hospital. Brandon and Dylan visit Nat, who tells them he's feeling better, then thanks them for saving his life. Dylan hands him a gigantic 'get well' card in the shape of a hamburger, and it's signed by the entire cast. Nat looks touched and murmurs, "All my kids." He asks Brandon how the deliveries are going at the Peach Pit, and Brandon looks uncomfortable and tells him that Joey's handling that stuff. Nat immediately looks alarmed and correctly assumes that no one's running the diner in his absence. Brandon and Dylan urge him to focus on getting well, but Nat gets upset and moans about how people count on the Peach Pit every day for breakfast and lunch. That's a scary thought, considering that the Pit's menu consists mostly of unhealthy, fried junk food. The Walsh house. Brenda's studying in the living room when Brandon gets home from the hospital. She tells him that Mama and Papa Walsh went to a movie, then sarcastically snarks that they won't be out late because "it's a school night for Cindy." Brandon looks amused by her irritated tone and asks her if Mama Walsh is getting on her nerves. Brenda bitchily retorts, "How could she not? Everywhere I go, there she is." I'm sure she could say the same thing about you, Brenda. Brandon points out that it's a big campus, but Brenda just grumps that she wishes their mother would just take correspondence courses and stay in the damn kitchen where she belongs. She changes the subject and asks how Nat is, and Brandon says that Nat seems more worried about the diner than his own health...and that without the Peach Pit, he doesn't seem to have much of a life. No duh. Brenda furrows her brows worriedly and informs him that Papa Walsh and Joey had a big meeting earlier. Turns out Joey owns 50% of the Peach Pit, and he and Papa Walsh agree that the only realistic option to avoid bankruptcy would be to sell the diner. Brandon looks troubled and says that selling the diner would kill Nat. And this is bad because...? Steve is on the air, DJing as "Steve Silver", and babbling about "the interactive superhighway". He decides to entertain his listeners by placing a call to a 1-900 number that charges $3/minute. David, meanwhile, is listening to the show from the beach house, and looks dismayed when Steve's naughty call goes through and he starts chatting with a gal who calls herself Kinky. Donna rushes into David's room, also dismayed by Steve's radio bit...and the two listen with horror as Steve tells Kinky that he's wearing lace panties. LOL. When a fake doorbell rings on Kinky's end, she tries to put Steve on hold, but he wisely retorts that at $3/minute, she should call him back...and then hangs up and plays a song. After that, he exits the booth and accidentally locks himself out. David tells Donna he never should have let Steve step in and do his show, and Donna sheepishly tells him it's her fault for encouraging him to accept Steve's help. David then tells her he regrets the douchebaggish way he broke up with her, and says he's been telling this to his therapist. The two start kissing just as the song on the radio starts skipping. Steve realizes he's locked himself out of the radio booth. The Walsh house. Brandon breezes into the kitchen wearing a suit and tie and announces that he's going to a fancy luncheon for some Nobel laureate. Brenda discreetly asks him if he talked to Papa Walsh about the Peach Pit being sold, and he tells her he hasn't. Mama Walsh tells her family that this will be their last full service breakfast, since she's starting classes the following day and will no longer have time to cook...and everyone assures her that they're capable of toasting bread or pouring themselves a bowl of cereal. Mama Walsh asks where Lindley Hall is, and Brandon mischievously points out that it's where Brenda has most of her classes. Mama Walsh perks up and suggests that she and Brenda start carpooling together, but Brenda says that Donna is picking her up, then swiftly flees the room. Papa Walsh tells Brandon that Joey came to see him yesterday, and he thinks that the best thing to do is sell the Peach Pit. Mama Walsh is like, "Whaaat?!" but Papa Walsh says he's inclined to agree now that he's taken a look at the books. Brandon accuses Joey of stabbing Nat in the back - but Papa Walsh insists that Joey's not the bad guy, and that he just wants to make sure Nat has something to live on when he gets out of the hospital. Brandon sanctimoniously retorts that someone should ask Nat what he thinks is best for himself. Mmm...nah. California University. Kelly is reading an article in the school paper about Brandon's appointment to the task force when Ahn-drea ambles over, looking very pregnant in a lumpy blue sweater. Kelly asks her how Jesse reacted to the baby news, and Ahn-drea says that the topic never came up. Kelly points out to the dimwit that the topic never will come up unless she brings it up, and Ahn-drea wails that she can't bring herself to tell Jesse, especially since he just got a prestigious clerkship in San Francisco. She wants to get an abortion, but Kelly insists that Jesse deserves to at least know that he knocked her up. Plus she looks way too far along for any doctor to consent to aborting her spawn. Kelly throws the Rap Line in her face and advises her to follow the advice she herself used to give to pregnant teenagers when she was a hotline operator. Haha! Hospital. Brandon visits Nat and learns that he's getting out of the ICU tomorrow. Nat's bummed about having to sell the Peach Pit, but thinks Joey is probably right. Brandon doesn't agree, but Nat points out that every day the diner is closed, it costs him money he doesn't have. Plus, the doctor says he has all the risk factors for a heart attack. Brandon flippantly tells him to start exercising, adopt a healthier diet that doesn't include artery hardening mega-burgers, and take an aspirin once in awhile. A nurse interrupts and kicks Brandon out, and Nat tells him not to worry about the Peach Pit and assures him that everything will be all right. California University. Kelly runs into David as he heads over to the radio station to try to find someone to cover his shift that night. He really needs to consider just quitting the radio station altogether. He tells Kelly that he and Donna had fun together the other night, and thinks that maybe they'll get back together. Kelly reminds him that when Jackie first got off drugs, she too thought it would be easy - but David brushes off her concerns and assures her that he's fine. When David arrives at the radio station, Jackson (another DJ) tells him that "Steve Silver's" train-wreck of a radio show got a lot of complaint calls. David asks Jackson to cover his graveyard shift, and after some initial grumbling he agrees. Jackson then asks David to fetch him something from Howard's office, so David obliges, goes into the office, and opens Howard's desk drawer. He spots some meth, and looks conflicted for a few seconds before he grabs it, shoves it into his pocket, and glances around suspiciously. Ahn-drea is moping around her dorm room when Brandon drops by. He rambles on about the Peach Pit, and tells her he wants to run it until Nat gets well...and thinks he can simultaneously squeeze in all of his classes, along with the task force. Well that's just stupid. He finally notices that Ahn-drea's not really listening, so he stops talking, sits next to her and asks her whassup. She tells him she's preggers and considering an abortion. He asks how Jesse feels about that, and she says she can't bring herself to tell him. She adds that she loves Jesse and doesn't want to ruin his promising future, but Brandon thinks that Jesse needs to know about the baby. This prompts Ahn-drea to burst into tears, and Brandon gives her a comforting hug. Radio station. David calls Donna and fibs about not being able to find anyone to cover his shift...and tells her he's going to stay all night and do his show, along with a hit of meth. She offers to keep him company, but he says he's OK and that he'll see her in the morning. As soon as he hangs up, he drugs himself up. The Walsh house. Mama Walsh is doing homework and has all of her books and papers spread out in the kitchen. Brenda enters the room carrying a bag filled with CU paraphernalia that she gives to her mom. I guess this means she's suddenly OK with her being a fellow university student. Elsewhere in the house, Brandon and Papa Walsh are having a heated argument, and Brandon storms out of the living room. Papa Walsh is angry that Brandon insists on running the stupid Peach Pit, but Brandon insists that he can fit it in with his classes and the task force. Papa Walsh thinks that that's incredibly stupid and naive - which it totally is - and points out that running a diner is a full time job. Brandon says he doesn't want to let Nat down, since Nat's the only person who's never disappointed him. Ouch. Brandon gives his father a cold stare and tells him he has to get up in time for the breakfast shift. Ahn-drea arrives at Jesse's place looking anxiety ridden and contemplative. Jesse's on the phone with a buddy from Yale, and the two are talking about his clerkship in San Francisco. He sees Ahn-drea standing at his door and invites her in...but when he notices her glum aura, he cuts the call short. She tearfully blurts out that she's pregnant, and tells him she also wrote it down on a piece of paper in case she lost her nerve. Jesse reacts with a smile and pulls her into a hug. In mid-hug, she starts prattling about how she'd know exactly how he felt about her by the first thing he did...and he tells her he thought she already knew, and kisses her forehead. David's hyped up on meth as he DJs in the wee hours of the morning. Brandon wakes up to David's frenetic playlist and looks very tired. The radio alarm also woke up Brenda, and she enters the communal bathroom and asks Brandon if he needs any help...but he says he doesn't. He asks her if she thinks he's insane (yes), and she quickly replies, "Not for helping Nat." Brandon staggers back to his room to get dressed. The Peach Pit. Brandon enters the diner, and goes over to where his shirt is hanging (in a framed case!) on the wall. He hears the door open and is about to grump that the diner's closed, but sees that it's Steve...who's followed by Dylan, Kelly, Donna, and Brenda. He looks touched that they've all shown up to help out. Donna goes over to the jukebox to pick a song, and a delighted Brandon walks over to the door and flips around the We're Open! sign. Now Andreas wardrobe makes clothes make tons of sense. I had wondered why she was dressing like she lived in Siberia. I hate that they are doing another peach pit focus. Like in season 2 or 3 there was a story of the peach pit being torn down to build a giant shopping center
